Tite Kubo's Bleach Manga Nears Ending

My apologies if I was too harsh on that- I probably should have added in the disclaimer that's my opinion.

I'm just being very honest on the matter: I've never read Ichigo and Rukia's interactions as being romantic. The two are very emotionally intimate with one another, no arguments there, but that doesn't inherently equate to them being romantic with one another. Is Rukia Ichigo's best friend? Sure, you'll hear no arguments from me there. But neither of them have ever given me the impression that they're at all interested in the other in that way.

But hey, feel free to disagree with me and ship as you please.

So should I read the Arrancar arc or should I keep pretending the series ended after Rukia's rescue?

I remember it starting off good but it completely overstayed it's welcome and by the end, all I wanted was for it to be over, especially since he would waste so many chapters on bullshit.

Someday I'll understand what the point of this arc is. I honestly feel like none of this shit matters and bleach could have ended after aizen's defeat. I kept reading, hoping we'd get another arc like the first two, but no. It's my fault for continuing to read bleach after that point.

Oh I didn't think Ichigo would stop being a shinigami. That'll always be him. I just don't think he's gonna move to Soul Society and leave his sisters and friends behind. I also don't think Rukia is gonna abandon her duties and go live in the human world.

Also, have Rukia and Ichigo even really had any emotional scenes together since the Soul Society arc? I honestly can't remember. Seems like they always get separated and never meet up.

Its not as if they need to drop everything for each other right away, they can go meet each other through the worlds either way until they decide what they want to do.

As for emotional scenes, after they got forcibly separated...

If it really does end I will miss it, as crazy and stupid as it is now I read that shit for YEARS.

Gin will always be my favorite.

I'm kind of suprised. I know it's been like 4 years since the final arc started, but I figured Kubo would try to keep it going for as long as possible. I suppose there's not much room to drag it too much out now though considering where we're at in the arc.
So should I read the Arrancar arc or should I keep pretending the series ended after Rukia's rescue?
I recently watched it (and caught up on the manga) It starts off alright, then drags on, then drags on even more, then keeps dragging on and on and on until it finally gets to the Aizen bits at which point it gets enjoyable again and then finishes.

Honestly I could skip most of the arc and get straight to the final battles and I'd feel like nothing of value was lost, but the Aizen stuff was great.

Lets see if it can regain the lost buyers, the manga lost like half of its past buyers during I believe 2011

i think the time for gaining readers has passed a long time ago...the only thing he can do now is end it without embarrasment. this entire arc was just pointless to make the scale of the stakes super high

I hopped out midway through. Read a chapter yesterday literally titled The End, but that definitely wasn't the end. If only it had actually ended with Aizen smh...

This chapter... what is Kubo gonna pull out of his Troll Box next week. :?

kubo should not be allowed to draw another managa after this garbage. get his mangka privileges revoked
or make him the artist and leave the writing to someone else.

No, your right. It was designed to be as ambiguous as possible from the start, so its no wonder you may not have picked up on the subtleties of the relationship that IchiRuki shippers do.

But Kubo denies it being platonic, while at the same time denying it being romantic either, or atleast that was his view point in 2008.

But since then, he's come out openly teasing fans on their future possibility in certain interviews as opposed to shutting them down, so it seems to me, he has never thought of their relationship as one particular thing instead of constantly being in motion at different points, which i really like.

At some points she acts like a mentor, some points like a mother figure, other times like a best friend, and, at other times...

Ah now I remember those. I didn't retain that arc too well for some reason.

Honestly, I'd be fine with those two if it works out in the end. I'm more worried Kubo will do the whole ambiguous thing at the end. Maybe I'm just being a pessimist.

He might, considering he's kind of tried to back away from romance in general and made things nakama oriented.

but if there is a relationship at the end, i fully expect it to be ichiruki

*Wakes up read current chapter. *
Oh Ichigo why are you so worthless?
That was pretty pointless

It's fascinating that 10 bleach chapters worth of content are 1 chapter of one piece. This chapter showed that again lol.

Ichigo gets drained
Uryuu talk ~nyuu~
Sternritter die because lol why not
Gate opens
BS about "Keep coming after me and u are dead"

...it's not like everyone would die now even if they don't do shit.

Guess the daddys will pull out BS out of their ass.

The initial premise of Bleach was so up my alley: an urban fantasy story about death and loss and moving on, with a cool art style and neat characters. Ichigo and Rukia had a nice duo dynamic. And look at that anime OP!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVaKesaMDkA

That still looks great. Why couldn't Bleach have been that?

People say it went downhill after Soul Society but honestly it started going downhill when that started as far as I'm concerned, because that's when it stopped being all that stuff I just said and turned into a save-the-girl shonen in a weird old-Japan setting. But at least the Soul Society arc was a decent execution of its idea, even if it wasn't the thing I got into Bleach to see. Everything since has been hot fucking garbage.

Completely agree, while I enjoyed the Soul Society arc a lot, if it had just stayed as how it was in the first 20 or so episodes and ended earlier I'd have loved bleach even more. That OP is great and is what got me into bleach, it sucks that it turned out the way it did.

I stopped reading bleach a year or two ago, one day I thought that I didn't really care what's gonna happen next and I haven't looked back.

Bleach is finally about to end, huh? I still look back fondly at the beginning as pointed out above, but otherwise it's not been up my alley outside of raw style which is its strongest point. I actually, unlike many others from what I've been able to tell, enjoyed the Fullbring Arc quite a bit as it was a step back to the smaller urban setting and actually gave Ichigo some emotions and conflict. So it's not as if Kubo still can't tell a cool story.

This being said, I think I'd be fun if the anime came back with a great fast-paced adaptation... even if it never will. Bleach: Hell Verse is a good example of how fun such a romp could be.

I just skimmed through volume 1 and man, I forgot how well executed the first 6 chapters are in this book with it's small cast and small setting. Did it ever recapture that feeling?

No, I'm usually pretty damn keen on picking up the subtleties of character interactions. Moreover, I went into Bleach specifically with the goal of observing Ichigo and Rukia's relationship, since all my friends kept telling me it was this great romance and was a top example of how to write a really good relationship dynamic between characters.

So I was on the lookout specifically for the two as a couple, and while I took to their interactions right away, it just never came across to me as ever actually being romantic. Which, ironically enough, I thought was even cooler. You don't get to see that kind of intimacy in platonic friends very often.

But again, let's agree to disagree. I don't even care much about Bleach anymore myself and I'm pretty sure you and I have two very different views on the nuances of the series and its cast of characters. :)

Ichigo and Rukia have a nice dynamic early on but "a great romance" is the biggest overstatement I've ever heard and you should probably not listen to your friends' opinions on writing.

I have no disagreements there! xD

Again, I'm not even much of a fan of Bleach anymore (came in the thread originally because of the original subject that it's apparently about to end).

To be fair though, it was 2009. I was in the middle of high school and new to the world of manga/anime and (in hindsight) my friends all had generic favorites for their recommendation.

Considering how little interaction they've had on the past like 8 years who even cares anymore?

I cannot fucking believe this final arc has taken 4 years

The last time I read, I vaguely recall Mayuri wearing a sun costume and Kenpachi fighting some vague reality warper guy

Agreed with this

Soul Society was a great change up but I've always preferred the initial set up so much more.

Gonna say the same of other Shonen Jump manga that also went through genre shifts into bland shonen shit (like Reborn and Beelzebub)

Ill believe it when I can read it.

But man this was such a fantastic manga almost perfect shounen imo right up until he rescues Rukia then it shit the bed so hard.

What this? the bad guy's Shikai is to create an illusion with almost perfect accuracy oh unless you are blind or a god tier

Seriously if his Bankai isnt just HARD REBOOT and boom Bleach 2.0 starts as a hard troll what even is the point of him having a Bankai

BatDan

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
I hope an anime does happen because this arc has some monumentally stupid shit.
The world needs to see Gremmy, and Giselle, and the giant hand, and the sniper that turns into a bullet with butterfly wings then into an owl-centaur thing because Kubo had these design ideas and just wanted to use them even if they made no sense.

The latest chapters were called "The End". Watch it be like Deicide and be like 30 chapters long. "The End 28: We Mean It This Time" "The End 29: Ha, Still Going"

This is the final chapter! Good bye!
*explosion*
...That was your best move?
Nani!?
No, this is is the final chapter....for you!
*explosion*
Think on your sins, in the afterlife!
...You didn't think I'd go down that easy did you?
Nani!?
It's time to finish this series! Bankai!

Someone summarize what's happened since. Last I remember man magically started to fly and they were squaring up above ichigos town.

Aizen turned into a butterfly and Ichigo one shotted him and gave up his shinigami powers.
Ichigo's dad is a soul reaper.
Fullbringers are back and Ichigo gets his shinigami powers back almost as an afterthought.
Fullbringers? What fullbringers? Fuck you.
Quincy's are german nazis and return and kill a character nobody cared too much about.
Ichigo's sword turns out was head of the quincies and he loses his powers again.
Chunk of characters lose their powers so Kubo can draw new Bankais.
Ichigo's mom is a quincy.
Ichigo gets new powers of all his previous powers.
Bunch of stupid Quincy and soul reaper fights.
Fullbringers are back!
J/K they don't do shit.
Aizen is back!
J/K he don't do shit.
Arrancar are back.
J/K they don't do shit except kill 1 cannon fodder.
Ichigo fights main dude, his power is OP, and Ichigo lost his powers again.

4 years of Bleach in a nutshell.

Damn it's been 4 years!?!? What have I been doing with my life!?!?!?

I'm really interested in how they will end this; Kubo is copy Naruto right now with an awfully OP villain that I don't see how Ichigo will win unless he gets a phantom power boost

I'm surprised it persisted this long I have to admit.

This reminds me I finally stopped following this about 8 months ago, I should've persisted to see what more stupid could come out of this final arc.
If only I could remember where I dropped out, did Aizen get out of his chair yet?

Did they ever do something with Ichigo's two 'normal' friends? I remember they stated seeing ghosts at some point and that something more was hinted.

I thought it was done. The anime is done, right? Could they reboot the anime in the same fashion as Kai? Take the last 30 years of bleach and cut out most of the filler?
