Today I had KFC for the first time

They recently opened in my city (in Brazil), and boy, shit's good.

I had a "crunchy" sandwich with bacon and crunchy chicken, and 2 pieces of chicken. The french fries were bad, but hey, that's some good chicken, boy.

That concludes my blog, thank you!

Here at home, Popeye’s quality is waay better than KFC’s.

I don't think we have those... Wendy's opened up some stores in São Paulo and Rio, but I live to the south, haven't had yet.

I wish Brazil would import the burrito culture. It's pretty hard to find burritos and tacos here, and when you do it's expensive af.

Bojangles chicken is better than Popeyes or (especially) KFC imo. 1 (or 2 if I'm hungry) breast dinner w/ green beans and an unsweet tea is perfect. A good Broaster place is the only thing that comes close, although you have to go full junk food with it and get wedges, mac and cheese, maybe fried okra, and biscuits. And they all have to be fresh or it is worse than KFC.

good to know you like them. KFC can be a hit or miss in the states for me personally but if it's oversea, all bets are off.

it's always so puzzling to me that big chains like KFC or McDonalds won't at least improve their food or import some of the great items from oversea. the US KFC is mediocre at best and down right terrible sometimes. and since I have a Popeye's near me, I usually get my fry chicken there instead. I know KFC in Japan and China has some kick ass food but the US branches seem to hate money or something and keep sticking to the terrible crap.

Haven't had the opportunity to eat at KFC since it's too far from my home and the higher price doesn't help my interest within it either.

That new Mountain Dew sweet lightning is banging. Besides that American KFC isn't as good as Chinese KFC so I rarely actually get food there. I just got for the Dew.

I must try KFC in some other country some time, around here (Chile) it's horrible. Last time I went there (which must have been over 5 years ago) it really made me question if they actually use real chicken.
Thank god we got Popeye's at some point, though sadly like most of these big chains that make it here it has gotten worse in recent years (they are always amazing at first and then they start getting worse over time) but it's still pretty good and much better than KFC

Wow, that's strange. I got like real real chicken, wings, thighs and breast. And the crunchy layer part feels and tastes like good panko flour.

New storefronts for most fast food joints tend to have better quality in my experience, give them a year or two and it won't be what they were when they first opened

All the ones near me have been open longer than I've been alive and you're liable to get soggy chicken with a side of digestive issues (and the option of getting Taco Bell instead). Haven't ate there in years as a result

We actually just had a Chick-fil-A pop up for the first time in the area, place may get some social flack, but that chicken is on another level. Only downside is even after being open for over a year the line at the drive thru is always unreasonably long

That is what happened with the Five Guys that opened near me. The first few times I had it, it was so fucking good. It was worth the ridiculous cost.

Now it's $15 for a shitty burger and a regular amount of ok fries that are barely even on the same level of a Wendy's combo meal.

I swear it seems like KFC is better everywhere else but here in the States. I tried it when I went to visit my brother in Trinidad and it was so much better. It wasn't nearly as greasy, sure a bit but not like the oil pool it leves in a bucket here . And when I bit it to it i wasn't throat punched by salt, it was there but it wasn't the dominant flavor , everything blended well together .

I’m in southern OH near KY so basically KFC country. If I’m in the mood for chicken though Chic-fil-A’s spicy sandwich is my go to. Popeyes is alright but the service at my local one is complete trash so
Chick-fil-A > KFC > Popeyes

Are you near Cincinnati? Have you tried Raising Caines?

Yep! Not too far from downtown Cinci. Actually been thinking of relocating to the other side of the river after this mess clears up. And yeah we’ve got Canes and Tender Town. They aren’t bad but I do like a little more variety with sides, bone-in chicken, etc

I used to like KFC but about 10 years ago in Australia I think they changed the oil or something, and from then on whenever I have had some the oil cancels out the taste. The popcorn chicken is so wonderful though. I wish they sold big buckets of popcorn chicken, I wouldn’t mind the cost whatever it was.:messenger_smiling_hearts:

God dammit why do people like chik fil a. Their batter uses way too much sugar. Save the sugar for pork. Keep that shit out of a fried chicken recipe. I do respect their sauce game though.

They have. I have a Popeye's 5 min. from my house. It's awesome.

Also, São Paulo has a lot of burrito places. You can bump into one in every neighborhood nowadays.

Good to know, my father lives in São Paulo, maybe next time I visit I can check Popeyes (not sure when this will be with all the corona situation)

About the burritos, I've yet to find a place other than Zapata that serves them here in Curitiba, and they're pretty expensive.

That's cool. They opened a ton of Popeye's stores here last year. I haven't been to Curitiba in almost 30 years but I always hear great things about it.

I can’t really eat this kinda food anymore, but the last time I had KFC I didn’t like it anymore.

To me KFC was at its best when it had the honey bbq wings and the honey bbq boneless wings. They were soooooo good. But it’s been years since I had those. Mid 2000’s at least. I really don’t understand what their decision making has been going with their menu. I always see their new items advertised and I’m like who the fuck orders this shit weird little cheap chicken sandwich minis and like double downs and shit. What happened to the honey bbq wings?

The original recipe’s skin is like crack. I would eat 4 lbs of that seasoned chicken skin if it were healthy to lol

Their breaded tenders are probably the best. Or whatever they sell now, popcorn chicken or something. Haven’t been to a KFC in over ten years now I think....But apparently there was a chicken sandwhich that was so popular and good that they couldn't even meet demand for it in any of their chains in the U.S.

Be on the lookout for that one my brother, whatever the sandwich was called haha

Oh yeah man!!!!! I completely forgot about the honey barbecue chicken dude! Man! That stuff was truly a highlight in fast food. Just about the best chicken you can eat taste wise imo, even though it’s still technically just fast food. That stuff was crack. Could easily put down a few lbs of that if I had the money to blow on such exorbitant amounts of chicken lol

Fuck lol..brings back memories when I used to play Playstation way back in the day. Had a friend come over one overcast day, and we sat playing Road Rash for PS1 going through the campaign it had and eating KFC lmao. Fuck was that a great memory. Thanks PS, KFC, and Road Rash for that

Haven't had KFC in years. When I want fast food chicken, I mainly go to chick fil a or bojangles, but I might give KFC another shot someday.

Double Down is one the top 5 fast food items of all time

This was one of the most underrated fast food items ever. No one would bat an eye at someone who ate 2 chicken sandwhiches. However, two pieces of chicken together was the grossest thing to many people. It died because of bad PR.

KFC is a tragedy. It should be the face of American comfort food. Their recipes are great. When the food is relatively fresh, it is damn good. They are mismanaged and hire some of the laziest employees which results in an often sloppy product.

I agree, popeyes is doing it best right now.
