Today I had KFC for the first time

God dammit why do people like chik fil a. Their batter uses way too much sugar. Save the sugar for pork. Keep that shit out of a fried chicken recipe. I do respect their sauce game though.
You don't like dipping their breaded chicken nuggets and waffle fries in some tasty Polyasian sauce, Ya Dick? !🥴

Im supposed to trust chicken made by an old white guy lol.

It was all the wife. They had a place in Shelbyville, KY. (right down the road from me) called Claudia Sanders Dinner House. That was the origin of the famous chicken recipe. I think he was the business mind but not the chef.

It is still going. Obviously closed for the stupid pandemic. It's more of a classy sit down place, not like a KFC. Chicken buffet on weekends for lunch.

KFC is dirty these days. Generally agree with everyone else that Popeyes is better. Church's is good too, just a bit greasy.

Though most of the time I'll just go to a bar and get wings/tenders, plenty of great bars here with better wings/tenders than most chicken places.

At university one of my flatmates worked as a chef at KFC at the weekend and would always overcook a few pieces towards the end of his shift and bring stuff home. Good times.

It was in florida. First and last time I ordered fried chicken in the states. No french fries, no gravy, served with biscuits so dry you can choke on these things.
Lol wait they didn’t have fries on the menu? Yeah that’s lacking indeed.

Yep they only had mashed potatoes and other weird stuff like beans.

I mean dont get me wrong, I like beans, but not with fast food like fried chicken.

My local KFC hires some dumb fuckers.

Last time I went there I ordered a meal that came with a side. I asked for gravy, they said they'd run out. I asked for beans - they'd run out. I said I'll have corn on the cob - "sorry, we've run out". I asked what other choices there were and they told me, so I picked one - "sorry, we've run out of that". It turned out that they only had 2 choices left. I said "it would have been a lot quicker if you'd just told me the 2 options at the beginning", but they just respond with "that'll be £6.19 please".

As for trying to use the drive through part, it's like this: -

I tried KFC for the first time in a long time a... couple years ago? It was awful. Don't plan on another trip.
There are already so many great chicken places by me. Chick-Fil-A, Popeyes, PDQ, Chicken Au Gogo (local fried chicken place) are all better.

I find places like "Popeyes" and "Wingstop" better but it's good food, it's sort of ordinary food.

I used to manage a Wing Stop when I was younger. Our bone in wings were so good that it sorta ruined other chains for me.

I still make their honey mustard potato salad and bourbon baked beans for family functions even though they stopped serving those a while ago.

My family thinks I'm like a side dish genius 😅

I'm not gonna turn down kfc or really much any fried chicken but yea it's kinda pricey so I rarely stop for it. Also yes, popeyes spicy chicken sam is incredible.

I activated a free month of Uber Eats premium just to get some damn KFC today. They didn't have my nearest location available, but that ended up being a good thing.

I got some extra crispy bliss delivered to my door and biscuits that were so warm, fresh and moist that I didn't even recognize them as being from KFC.

I love KFC. I think it's better than Popeye's personally but I do like Popeye's too, especially their cajun rice and fries. But for chicken and biscuits it's KFC for me.

El Pollo Loco is also good. I love their Al Carbon tacos. Their grilled chicken is really good too.

They gave me a free month of no delivery fee and 5 percent off all orders of $15 or more a couple days ago.

When I have money I'm gonna order a good chicken meal deal for me and my dad.

I don’t really care for KFC here in the States, but I’ve never tried the international stuff, so I don’t know what I’m missing either. We don’t have a Popeye’s here. The only time I ate Popeye’s was when I went to visit my brother on a military base in South Carolina. We just got the bone-in chicken, and I fucking wanted strips. The sandwich wasn’t available yet to be my knowledge. My favorite chicken here in my area is Chick-Fil-A by far. Wendy’s is good too, but Chick-Fil-A is so fucking good.

Game over once this comes to town..

OP you need to get bucket of hot wings. Those are fucking amazing. Same as Zingers.

Here at home, Popeye’s quality is waay better than KFC’s.

Many people say that McDonalds and KFC are waaaaaay different in Europe. So it might be local difference.

I think Popeye's kinda sucks. And Chik Fil A is just chicken sandwiches and tenders. It's not like you can get a bucket of fried chicken parts from there, so I don't even understand the comparison.

I feel sad for those who think KFC and Popeyes is 'real fried chicken'. It's just not. You need to find a local place run by a nice old black woman. Its important inside the restaurant that they use old school plastic tablecloths. Yes they have tables but no one eats IN the store. Yet they are super busy. They should receive al least 2 phone orders while you are there. The person taking your order must call you, honey or sweetie. They have to have a huge thing of sweet tea brewing.

If you have checked all those boxes you have found a REAL fried chicken place. Be sure to never tell others where it is or how good it really is. Let the plebs have the KFC and Popeyes.

The fried chicken hipster, that's a new flavor I hadn't seen before.

If im a hipster for liking good chicken sign me up.
The problem is that KFC and Popeyes is NOT going to spend the money buying good chicken, its just small pieces of super oily, very inconsistently cooked chicken.
I get the convivence of it but feel like that's the only reason people should get it over some good shit.

good to know you like them. KFC can be a hit or miss in the states for me personally but if it's oversea, all bets are off.

it's always so puzzling to me that big chains like KFC or McDonalds won't at least improve their food or import some of the great items from oversea. the US KFC is mediocre at best and down right terrible sometimes. and since I have a Popeye's near me, I usually get my fry chicken there instead. I know KFC in Japan and China has some kick ass food but the US branches seem to hate money or something and keep sticking to the terrible crap.
Yeah.......i've always wondered this as well. Why the hell won't American fast food chains put in more effort here? McDonalds CAME from us and yet we get the short end of the stick when it comes to menu items and selection. Other countries have much more experimental and interesting food items and we just get the same old stuff. It's really boggling, maybe it just says something about the preferences and tastes of the American people?

I worked as a Deli Clerk for 6 years so I just can't stand the sight and smell of it lol
That's one of my fears with working at a restaurant who's food I enjoy, I'll eventually get completely sick of the smell of the food as well as the food in general.

well, one thing I can think of being the reason would be it's hard and risky in terms of investment and reward to bring new and "exotic" items nation wide. but you can solve that problem easily by doing limited runs in big cities like NYC/LA/SF/Boston/Chicago and what not. only select locations will be providing these specials. that way you don't have too much to lose. then if there is increasing demand in other regions, expand the operation.

I’m in southern OH near KY so basically KFC country. If I’m in the mood for chicken though Chic-fil-A’s spicy sandwich is my go to. Popeyes is alright but the service at my local one is complete trash so
Chick-fil-A > KFC > Popeyes

Service at every Popeye’s is trash

They had a KFC buffet near my college. $7.99 with all the fixings. That was the only one I ever saw. During my powerlifting days, I shot well over 300lbs going there daily. It was ridiculous.

Glad to hear yall got KFC. Loved their chicken in the 1980s! Was really great chicken back then. In the US it seems to have followed the McDonalds quality trend. Still solid but not what it use to be. Damn now my fat ass wants some friend chicken.
