Idk where the myth came from that Pats fans aren't critical of Brady. Sure some people may not be, but I think most of us are to an extent. I didn't buy Brady's testimony in the press conference following the the Colts game, but I also don't think the Payriots and Brady are running some serious ball deflation scheme. I also think the punishment to the Patriots organization and Tom Brady is excessive.

My guess is that Brady knows he likes the balls a little below regulation and asked the equipment guys to try and get the balls to pass inspection under inflated, which may or may not be that difficult considering the lack of consistency in actually checking the balls.

Can anyone explain why the NFL would go after the Patriots and Brady for such a minor infraction?

It's a power play. Goodell wants people to see he can do anything he wants, punish any team or player he wants, even without evidence, any time he wants. If the NFL wins this, it sets a terrible precedent for the league.

I guess the Patriots are easy targets too.

IMO- the media blew the thing out of proportion from the get-go leading up to the SB, and the league pretty much had to respond with a full-blown investigation. Kraft made some foolish comments publicly about the situation around that same time, which led to a dick-wagging contest that kept escalating every time either side opened their mouth. Throw in heaploads of arrogance and bluster on both sides, and you wind up with the embarrassment that we now see before us.

I wouldn't blame the media entirely. The league allowed the false PSI reports to run rampant for months. They could have corrected that misinformation Immediately, but chose to let the media lie to the public.

To go even further, unless ESPN flat out lied about having an inside source, it was the NFL that leaked the false PSI numbers to them in the first place.

I guess the Patriots are easy targets too.

They're not easy targets. That's the point. If they can do it to the Patriots, they can do it to any team.

Goodell's close relationship to Kraft may have forced his hand to make this a much larger investigation/issue then needed.

I don't. I blame everyone involved for how out of control this thing has gotten.

More of an aside than a reply, but I'm guessing that "close relationship" is not the same as it used to be.

That's their own fault that the only way they could comprehend getting their asses consistently handed to them was by rationalizing some paranoia.

Hate us cause they ain't us and whitewashing the past all in one post.

Pats have pulled shady shit ever since BB took over.

Paranoia backed by nothing is paranoia. Paranoia backed by history is no longer paranoia, but active prevention from letting someone take advantage of you.

Hard to see that when your inside the sphere of influence I'm sure.

He already had that power, so not sure how this current battle proves anything.

Yes, self-delusion to the point that you shit yourself in the biggest games is pretty sad.

Nah, it's more sad that a fraudchise is set on breaking the rules, that an opposing team has to resort to such measures.

Step out of the matrix.

What is this "shady shit ever since BB took over"? We know about the fine for spygate, what else is there, or is this just innuendo and excuses to try and explain their success.

Radio communications are the most egregious.

Somewhat tied to Spygate, but ultimately buried in the scuffle.

Look up Doug Flutie and Karlos Dansby if you don't believe me.

I'm sure you'll just label them haters and sweep it under the rug.

Godslay you really need to take a chil pill and stop shitting up the thread.

I can share my opinion, what's the problem?

I'm not suggesting you take female viagra like someone in this very thread suggested I take to be able to join the conversation.

Godslay doing God's work up in here.

if it's god will to shit up the thread and continue pointless, broad sweeping statements that are backed up by little fact and pure conjecture, then god must be pumped right now.

I've asked for people to stop this shit, I'm not a mod so I can't do actually do anything. If this shit just goes on I'll simply have a mod close the thread and I'll make a new one. I thought having the thread's name changed to "News Thread" would ward off some of this shit, but apparently not.

Protip, when your only defense is, "I can share my opinion", you should probably step back and think about why that's your only defense to your opinion.

Really? How many other teams sweep for bugs in the New England visitors locker room? How do you explain the domination of the Pats over Peyton/Colts in Indy?

Step out of the cesspool that is the NFL OT thread and back into reality.

You just can't handle opposite opinions of yours. Happens all the time in the NFL thread with little incident.

It doesn't seem to fly here though.

Since Brady took over the team the Pats are exactly 3-3 in RCA Dome/ Lucas Oil Stadium.

Domination my ass.

The Patriots cheated.

They were caught in the early 2000s and were penalized.

They were caught in 2015 and were penalized.

The Patriots penalties will not be lifted. The Pats themselves will not get a draft pick back if the Judge rules against the Brady punishment.

Judges step in to reduce penalties all the time. They helped reinstate abusers like Rice and Peterson. There is a chance they could reduce Brady's penalty for cheating.

He cheated because they were caught. He cheated and lied. He destroyed his phone. Etc.

We don't need to have a smoking gun to call him a cheater. Our opinions aren't putting someone on death row. He was suspended for cheating the game of football.

The phone, the texts, science, the stats, the history, the bathroom detour, the Colts/Ravens suspicion and actions, Brady and the Pats public response to criticism and the charges are good enough for most people.

The old you hate us because you ain't us defense.

I don't need to run a smear campaign because John Q. Public knows that you run a cheating fraudchise hellbent on breaking any rules that stand in the way of illegitimate victories. That's the same M.O. that fueled Barry, Lance, and the like. A legitimate disdain for any rules that govern the game and provide integrity to said sport.

It's not my fault that I don't share your opinions or those of your franchise to win at any costs, including that of tarnishing reputation.

I don't have to post according to your guidelines, and I should be able to freely share my opinions as long as I am not attacking individual users. You are entitled to share your opinions as am I. Difference is you guys seem to not want to hear dissenting opinions, and feel that all of a sudden they must be squelched in the name of remaining on topic.

Nobody said anything when that albatross guy shared his crazy conspiracy theory of the world having it out against the Pats.

You didn't post anything substantial and have not addressed my point whatsoever. Kudos, you might as well run for office with this avoiding the question business.

You aren't sharing your opinion, I had four quotes of yours that were inarguably shitposting.

I didn't see that albatross guy but I would have said something if I had seen it.

In fact, your strawman arguments in the above post are something else.

How many QB/Coach combos are .500 against Manning in Indy?

I'm sorry you disagree. Don't single me out, because you don't agree with my stances.

Goalposts successfully moved.

Domination became, well at least we're 0.500.

What about everyone else? No one else claimed domination. You specifically claimed the Pats dominated in Indy. You were wrong, take your L and sit down at the kid table.

I have a meeting good luck with your campaign.

Spygate was taping signals in the wrong location. This is a fact yet you completely overstate how serious it was. The NFL is a league of teams pushing the rules and trying to get an edge, it's gamesmanship. You refuse to accept the official findings of it and continue to use it as some core concept that the Patriots are cheating every single game and every single game should be vacated.

What about your team? You know that under Chip Kelly's rein the Eagles has had more players suspended for PED use than all the years of Reid's? Sounds like an organization that's pushing for it's players to use illegal substances to gain a competitive advantage. I have the facts, if you deny it then you are clearly delusional and can't accept the fact your team is detrimental to the sport.

See how much fun this is!

This is stupid. This thread has been garbage from the start, but it at least gained some quality when they were in court and we got live tweets and a good flow of articles breaking down the legal side of this. It's pointless and I'm going to ask a mod to close it down. if someone wants to make another thread and try again, good luck.

I pointed out your shitposting. It's not opinions. Saying things like sorry to get in the middle of your circle jerk is the definition of shitposting. Are you having a problem understanding the difference in stating your opinion vs. shitposting?

Sorry you disagree.
