I said it before and I'll say it again... not expect anything anytime soon, perhaps even ever. I've always believed that MS might go and patch all their first party games that aren't working already and just leave it as that. They clearly don't care about BC.

There are TONS of games that I'd love to see BC, but I highly doubt MSFT is gonna do anything about it -- 200 titles out of the however many multiple hundreds out there is meaningful yes, but not when they're crap games.

And 3rdman, xbot man, whatever, If we dont have any idea what we're talking about, lets see your secret document, or stamp of awesomeness where you're any more right than we are in saying that we dont have a clue what MS execs are planning and you do... Blind faith is a bad thing, If I've ever learned anything from being a Nintendo supporter, it kind of takes over your common sense and then you just become a God Warrior like that fat bitch from Trading Spouses 2x1/2x2

Well, the stupid thing about those saying that MS will just up and abandon it as soon as possible fail to realize that once you've made a big deal out of it and given gamers a taste of it, you cannot stop working on it...lest you face a lot of negative impressions left on your userbase who you've communicated intentions to the contrary. Whether it's technically feasible to get them all working 100% is another story. I'm sure they'll get most of it...including the Sega stuff (JSRF/PDO/etc.) before six months' time.
 
bigtime crow being dished out here, as just yesterday i watched as a few GAF members waxed on and on how MSFT would never add another single game to the BC of 360.

i was literally fighting with xbox live right now, everytime i put Chaos theory in it'd disconnect me and then say "update available!" and im like yah install it... and it's like "oh shit, something went wrong!" like 3 times in a row for me :P

will give impressions on Chaos theory performance

looks like it runs about the same or possibly slightly better than on xbox

there's some weird sound cracking that happens like 5 times during the beginning of the intro video

Well thats great news. I'm eating a little crow now...I'll gladly eat a murder of crows when MS gets Metal Slug 3, Street Fighter Anniversary, Outrun 2 and Panzer Dragoon Orta running perfectly, and also fixes up the slowdown with both Ninja Gaidens.


Glad to see they haven't abandoned it.
 
Before any crow gets served to anyone, people should try these games on their 360s and see just how compatible they are. Weren't there a lot of 'supported' games that had horrible/game-ruining bugs?

some really good news...

better news would be they found a way to use the Xbox 360 dashboard while playing Xbox games. There are other games I want, but Halo 2 + 360 dashboard would have me more or less set at this point.
 
someone will have to post their impressions of these titles running in 720p with AA :D

I'm curious to see how GR2 runs in particular. It had a very inconsistant framerate but was still very much playable. Also, seeing people far awa was difficult with the combination of low res vegetation and SDTV resolution.

I just did a test run with the first boss fight.

First of all, when I put the game in, it downloaded a patch.

A round of applause for MS! It used to slow down big time during that Murai fight, but now it's silky smooth. I can't attest to the entire game being that smooth, but it certainly has been significantly improved.

Rainbow Six 3 only runs in 4:3 with black bars. Chaos theory keeps freezing on the same section during the loading of level one. My disc isn't scratched either.
 
I can confirm the original Splinter Cell works.

I noticed a slight stutter, it lasts just a second, and happens when I use a zipline (which is not a problem since you are not doing anything while on the zipline anyway). I got to level 2 and have had no problems aside from that short stutter every now and then. I'm not sure if it's because my disk is scratched or if it's the emulation. But overall, works damn good.

Great job, MS. Thought it would be a while before we see any BC updates (IIRC Peter Moore said on the 1UP Show that the emulation team was taking a break). But here we are just 2 weeks after launch and another handful of titles are added.

I can't wait to get off and travel thru the snow to test these games out. Damn UPS and you people shipping your gifts!
 
well it's possible this update was tossed into certification and they are in fact on break, it just cleared cert and was released
 
I'd expect a little delay while they get the localization BC patches done properly.

Pandora turned me off completely on the SP parts and have been waiting for the 360 BC to play CT. Time to finally pick it up :D
 
All I gotta say is - damn straight.

Get Prince of Persia: Two Thrones on there and I'm golden.

I knew people were going to be eating crow over the update comments. MS said they are going to get everything up and running. They will get so dissed if they don't live up to that promise.

Played the first one, and it was "pretty cool" although I liked thief better overall (more theme then anything), though I dont know if I like it enough to have both followups. If you had to choose one, which would it be?

Chaos Theory is excellent, and I usually hate stealth games...
