He is under the same contract. He also regularly takes paycuts so they can build around him. They probably offered him $40 or 50M.
Ah. Thanks. He is under the same contract. He also regularly takes paycuts so they can build around him.
One of the funniest and most accurate memes I ever seen was.
Other QBs: How does Tom Brady do it every single year?
Tom Brady *takes paycut to let team build around him*
Others QBs: Hmmm, new record QB deal please!
Something along those lines.
The counterargument is that his wife is worth half a billion and he's already accumulated a large amount of money early on. He's been talking pay cuts for over a decade to get the surrounding talent right. He is under the same contract. He also regularly takes paycuts so they can build around him.

Being tied for the best regular season record in the league is definitely "over 500," yes.I’ll mention he never officially retired, the quarterback spot is open everywhere for Brady I love the Bucs fit, they won the super bowl and were over 500 last year obviously Rodgers went on a late season stat tear I kinda felt like Brady was the MVP.
So is it about retirement?
With bonuses factored in it’s about $20M. A bargain compared to what some quarterbacks are making.Ah. Thanks.
I did a quick skim of Google and it says for 2022 its $9 or $10M depending on the site. Not sure how accurate.
Typical Brady hater. So you go to Manning as the GOAT?Tom Brady ain't the GOAT. He routinely took less money from his employer because he knew he wasn't talented enough to win with level talent surrounding him.
Manning is the GOAT.

Do you mean Peyton, who relied completely on the defense to win a Super Bowl, throwing for 141 yards, 0 TDs, and 1 interception? Seems like he wasn’t talented enough to win without the talent surrounding him.
Or do you mean Eli, who had a career win/loss record of 117-117?
TB12 is the best to play the quarterback position and I can't imagine that being challenged anytime soon. As for being the GOAT of the sport overall, that's where I take a little umbrage.Tom Brady ain't the GOAT. Manning took the deal that was given to him. Playing what ifs when actual results are available is all dream talk. Nobody knows how anything would play out differently. I doubt Manning would have been as successful under Belichick but we will never know.I like Brady. Plus, you're referring to the Manning Superbowl when he was 40 and suffered a debilitating shoulder injury that made him throw lame ducks?
The real question you should be asking is if Peyton Manning would have ever lost a game if he played for Belichick and took team friendly contracts his whole career. We both know he'd have more rings than Bill Russell if that ever happened.
How could I convince you about him being the GOAT when I don't believe it myself? As for the arguments made, I'm struggling to see the logic. Most people would commend TB12 for taking less money to have more productive teammates, so how is that a knock against him? As for being drafted into Cleveland that didn't happen, he went to New England with a tremendous coach and cakewalk division. Once again those things were outside his control. You'll never convince me that Tom Brady would be considered the GOAT if the Cleveland Browns drafted him, or he took Peyton Manning/Aaron Roger's type money.
He's a great QB that prioritized winning over getting max money from his employers. Smart, but on a neutral playing field he's not even in the top 5. Teammates and coaching are vital to success in the NFL and Brady made sure he had the best.

Well it's a team sport, what do you expect? And the superior weapons around Brady have always varied, so even that isn't a suitable argument. You're knocking him for strategizing in a game where strategy is the main point. Many players in other sports do similar things. It's not a knock against him, the person. It's a knock against him the football player. It was genius doing what he did. He successfully gambled that building a legacy would be more beneficial than taking as much money as possible in the short term.
The way I assess a players talent is by trying to determine which player would have the greatest impact if everyone was surrounded by iRobot replacement level players (equal playing field). Tom Brady said "F that" I want superior weapons around me so I'll take less money to insure that happens.

You're preaching to the choir Men_in_Boxes . You keep talking about Brady's teammates whilst forgetting that the QB is the most important position on offence. Yes TB12 had good receivers, a top 10 defence and cakewalk division, but the QB is responsible for the offence and he's won so many Super Bowls and games. He's simply one of the best to ever do it.If you're an NFL scout in charge of drafting a college player to your team, do you...
A) Draft the college player with the most national championships, the player who benefited the most from having superior teammates?
B) Draft the best player who can most positively impact your team?
I wouldn't draft the kid who was smart enough to benefit from ideal circumstances, would you?
The devil must have scared him when he stopped by for payment.
Wonder how this guy feels now:
Tom Brady’s ‘final touchdown ball’ sold for $518K hours before he unretired
Nobody lost more than the person who bought Tom’s final TD pass.www.sbnation.com
Article says he sold Brady's "First Toudchdown" ball for $400k~ days before buying the last touchdown ball for $518k.First thing I thougth about when I saw he unretired. That dude that bought the "last TD" is totally fucked.
