Time to add it to the OP?
Besides Tesselation and TressFX what settings are the biggest performance sinks? I'm guessing High SSAO is also pretty big? What does High Precision do?

It's been in the OP for about 12 hours now.![]()
Tessellation fix for nvidia users.
Download nvidia inspector
Open nvidia inspector
Delete Tomb raider 2013 profile
Find hitman absolution profile
Link tombraider.exe
Change if you want af, aa and so on
Press apply button
And now hopefully you have no crash anymore with tessellation on. Have worked for me now an hour with no crash, use to crash before after 1-2 minutes after activating tessellation.
Thanks goes to a guy on steam for this fix.
Especially when you can get it for like $35 with promo codes. This game is amazing and they really deserve the money.
That being said, I can't believe my ancient PC is getting me a minimum of 30 FPS on ultra setting with just TressFX and tessilation turned off.

Pretty sad a game with an AMD feature doesn't even run right on AMD crossfire setups (other people w/crossfire are complaining about this problem and poor performance issues).
Time for a Geforce Titan? Maybe...
Except that GIF is on a Titan.
No it's not. It's taken off of a crossfire AMD setup. I have the same exact issue.
The GIF you are linking is mine and I've made that using 2 x Titans. Yes, it may happen on other setups but the GIF you have linked is with a Titan.
I posted it here; http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=48913326&postcount=113

And jesus the least he could do was admit he was wrong.
What kind of visual impact does Depth of Field have? After messing with the various settings I found lowering DOF from Ultra to High gives me a pretty big boost in FPS alone. (GTX 480 / i7 920 @ 3.36ghz)

Is it just a crossfire issue? Tressfx looks great on my single 7870xt

No, just a Titan issue.![]()
That gif is from Titan.
The game looks great in motion, some areas and scenes are a bit janky looking but overall it's a very very pleasing to the eye game
TressFX sucks though and has been terribly implemented, almost feels like a publicity stunt to try sell more on the PC or something as a gimmick. It not only shaved 20 fps off my performance (GTX 670, i5 3570k) but it doesn't look great either, her hair flies all over the place. They need a config that lets us adjust the rigidness/stiffness of her hair
Why would you get that impression? The game has a nice wide range of settings which can affect performance in a big way. I suspect my desktop isn't as powerful as your laptop and the game looks and plays great (considerably more so than the console version) with most of the settings turned up. If you have no problems with other console ports, you'll have no problems with performance on this one.Hmm, sounds like trying to play this game on a 2011 laptop with a (then) mid/high end Nvidia GPU (which usually handles console ports nicely) is pretty much a no-go? Would I do better to go with the PS3 version?

If you're talking about an m550/555, I haven't got a max setting gaming experience out of that since before Skyrim.
Well, I did try and play D3 outside once but that didn't last long because of the glare.
Is the very first spash screen after launching the game with the dev logos supposed to look bugged out (black flashing artifact looking things), or is it my system? It only happens on this first screen. Once the menu is shown, everything looks normal

Damn, I wish there was a demo of this. Or just a benchmark, or whatever. Can't decide between PC and PS3...
Funny how the only difference between "ultra" and "ultimate" is the TressFX
I run about 30-35% slower on Ultimate at 1080p compared to Ultra
i5 2500k @ stock
GTX570
12GB
probably about 30-35 FPS (never below 30) at 1080p resolution.
Even if you have to lower some settings, the PC version still looks and runs better than the console version.
Most of the crash issues are people trying to max out all the settings. What GPU do you have as well? Seems to be Nvidia is having the most problems, due to them not giving Nvidia the game code until a couple days before release.
tressfx is a huge resource hog for sure. It's worth it though i think
I answered that above, but it's a GT 555M, a 2011 mid/high end laptop GPU. I would obviously not try to run it maxed out, but if I could get better-than-console quality (which I usually can with console ports) I'm happy.

Not sure what you are getting at, but a whole bunch of the "Nvidia the way it's meant to be played" sponsored titles didn't run well on AMD hardware at launch, do you think AMD got the final code on a even footing???
