I can see why American kids gravitated towards this. Considering DBZ is more than likely the first anime they've seen.

But I've seen so many Toei movies that seeing an immensely over-powered villain beatdown the heroes is really nothing new.
Then again, this was the 90s so this might be a case of "Seinfeld is Unfunny"
