Any chance to watch Rick and Morty is a chance that should be taken. I watch all episodes of Bob's Burgers on tv even though i've seen them all already.

How bad was the Superbowl? Not even a whole bunch of Pizza and brownies could save it. And I got in a twitter fight with Bass over the Bruno Mars halftime show (Which was shit, by the way).

Also, I started Naruto Shippuden UNS3FB, which I got for 20 on Amazon in their PC sale. Its really pretty to look at, but I have no freaking clue whats going on. My Naruto history is I read the manga up till the time skip (ie, the start of Shippuden), so apparently i'm going to have to read the manga or get summaries, because the game is so confusing.

I hate to be that guy but from the two and a half episodes of Rick & Morty I've seen I just don't see the hype/love. I guess I have to watch more to get it?

I expected Rick and Morty to have a lot more toilet humor, I suppose based off some previews and the fact it's an Adult Swim show. The one episode I watched wasn't such at all, which was nice. I might make time for more episodes.

You think Dan Harmon would stoop that low? For shame.

I got it after one *shrugs*

I'm just fucking with you :P

which ones were they?

The pilot, the one where they go into a Math teacher's dream while dogs take over humanity and then half of one where they're inside some homeless dude till I changed the channel cause something else I was interested was on. The first episode was AWFUL. The second episode was definitely better but I wouldn't call it something that actively encouraged any positive feelings in me. Maybe it improves A LOT later? I could force myself to watch more I guess *shrug*

i'd say watch the fourth and fifth episodes as those were my favorites by a long shot. though i liked the pilot so i dunno.

Lol we have 2 things in common lol. I also had brownies. I also got in a Twitter fight, but with some bitter British guy upset about Americans having a fun time enjoying one of our biggest pastimes.

I keep seeing people say that the pilot was weak but the rest of the show is great. I've liked every episode so far, including the pilot. Maybe people just get bugged out by all the belch-talk in the first episode? I always felt that Rick's erratic speech in that episode shows how he's always on the verge of just being completely nuts.

"Pure Betrayal, and a Fleeting Plea!"

Clones getting sucked up left and right! SUMMONING JUTSU? It's the J-man with the save! Frog tongue to Naruto.

vfd893rl.jpg

Not so fast says the Antlion dude who throws a kunai at Naruto as he is grabbing onto the frog's tongue. SWERVE it's a clone. Three Narutos start talking shit and whenever you see multiple Naruto's in a formation you know what is coming. Rasengan+Fastball special. One down, two more to go...They run like the cowards they are.

XqfCRn4l.jpg

"Man they are quick...especially when they are running away!" Wise words Naruto.

Cut to them standing outside the now lopsided temple. Jiraiya reminds him that he's forgetting someone (too soon, too soon)

eMheqZR.gif

Sakura and character of the day are just fine. Sakura keeps the perv away from her. J-man doesn't like them that young! No more calling him Pervy Sage but both of them are scared of Sakura. Sakura clues them in while Jiraiya talks about the Fuma clan bros he beat up.

Ein3crFl.jpg

The two genin are legit shook that he found something useful! Sakura stopped respecting the Toad Hermit a long time ago! Sick burn.

No one knows where Orochimaru is...except Sasame that is! She's still wounded though. Orochimaru has a foggy mountain lair.

mE4CX3cl.jpg

There's Sauce in them there hills!

XqfCRn4l.jpg

Jiraiya calls for a lunch break. Jiraiya has a sweet heart in the tavern who gave him a full spread. Sasame leaves to make tea...and drugs it!

v269NFQl.jpg

Shifty eyes, shifty eyes. Pervy Sage is down! Naruto is down! Sakura is down! Sasame sends up the flare! The three evil ninjas get the single but Antlion guy is still shook from that Rasengan! If they capture the Leaf Ninja Orochimaru will restore the clan!

FLASHBACK: Sasame has her mask on but gets caught in a snare. Meets with the evil ninja and asks about her cousin. She can see him...only if she joins them.

Evil Ninja show up...but they altered the deal, they're gonna kill the leaf ninja! She protests; they said that Lord Orchimaru only wanted to "examine" them not their heads (I'd rather be dead myself!)

8ZbNME0l.jpg

He's gonna kill Sakura! Sasame gets belted by a giant pair of Scissors Kill la Kill style...

UAGM626l.jpg

Only to be caught by Naruto! They didn't drink that shitty tea! Triple Substitution Jutsu. Sakura takes care of the traitorous girl.

Naruto cuts a promo. Evil ninja with Gaara's voice says that the girl wanted to betray them...and has the best kind of evidence...

t4OR9mIl.jpg

FLASHBACK evidence! You can tell it's a flashback because it is almost always foggy in flashbacks.

OBJECTION! You said you wouldn't kill them, only have them examined. She claims that Orochimaru isn't trustworthy and that the bandit leader Jiraiya fought is right in that they should fit him while evil Gaara Scissors man says that her cousin is with him and that the bandit is a traitor. Restore the clan's honor, yadda, yadda.

Naruto calls Scissor Gaara a trickster and they square off.

lz22RCnl.jpg

Uzamaki BARRAGE, Vintage Naruto!

RntlAVnl.jpg

J-man with the green mist (shades of Tajiri!) to the spider dude before he can interfere followed by a Rasengan! Naruto promises a bigger beating but Antlion guy shows back up, no selling the Rasengan.

More poetry! He's going to die! He takes off his shell to reveal...

hLa8SgWl.jpg

EUREKA?!?

Naruto and Jiraiya are LEGIT SHOOK. More poetry. She says she is going to sacrfice it all. Ninja Art Ephemera! Big fucking death laser chakra geyser!

fF5yiQFl.jpg

Jiraiya used the toad stomach thing from way back to protect them. They pop out.

aFzcyY5l.jpg

She cuts a death speech about how she believed in Orochimaru and that this is the end before disappearing in a white flash and blowing away in the wind.

Naruto cuts one final promo as Orochimaru's theme plays. The Fuma are the same as the Leaf and that Orochimaru playing with them cannot be tolerated!

aksmbayl.jpg

She didn't disappear, she teleported to the Sound Village! She's also only mostly dead! What a twist! They are begging Orochimaru to save her, but he says they failed! He says there is only one way for the two of them to atone! They attack him first but are cut down!

qXrEjQpl.jpg

A dead pile of henchmen! Bah Gawd it's the Denver Broncos!

NEXT EPISODE: "Pure Terror! The House of Orochimaru"

The House of Orochimaru was pretty funny if I remember right. Or maybe it was just me, but I remember enjoying it.

This arc as a whole despite feeling fillery is pretty good. I remember liking it a lot and if all eighty episodes were this good people wouldn't have complained as much. There are seemingly real stakes involved here.

One Piece has a similar filler arc between Skypeia and Davy Back where besides some of the characters having that filler feel to them the story has some weight to it and everything else "checks out" more or less. This is the Naruto equivalent of the G8 arc.

i'd say watch the fourth and fifth episodes as those were my favorites by a long shot. though i liked the pilot so i dunno.

One of those was the Love Potion episode right? I just saw that. I thought the ending was a great twist and it's becoming clearer now why some of you guys were making comparisons between Rick & Morty and Space Dandy. However, holy shit was the whole "cronenburg" part of the episode disgusting. I seriously couldn't even stand to look at my TV screen. Some of the gross humor from earlier episodes was already bothering me but that was way over my personal limit. Sorry, that show isn't for me :(

That was the sixth one; the show has never really been that outright gross before up to that episode, for what it's worth. It could get worse though haha

If there is any reason I feel dandy > R&M its because of the laters seemingly obligatory gross moments each episode. I find those even more cringeworthy then Dandy's boobies obsession.

We were supposed to get a ton of snow, but it's not that cold out so its coming down as rain. Hope it stays like this cause I can't take any more snow

One Piece feels awkward to me at times too. Like, the conflict sometimes feels artificial or something, it's hard to explain. Also people yell too much. Anyways I think what it does better than the other two is balance in the cast. The main cast works off of each other much more effectively than the other shows, and I think having them stick together most of the time is actually beneficial to this effect. Each character certainly had their own motivations, traits, and quirks, but at least they all feel relevant and significant, and keeping them mostly present helps.

All noteworthy shonen should be forced to have a fighting video game made, so fans of under-appreciated characters can enjoy the huge cast that no writer has the time to flesh out.

I do enjoy the fact that OP treats everyone like they are worth spending some time on. But as much as I believe this, I also look back at some archs in retrospect, and wish more would have happened with a lot of the characters.

The differences between cable and network are huge as well. I am astonished with some of the shit Adventure Time gets away with.

Japan has some weird censors as well. Particularly the rule NOT THE FACE, NOT THE FACE!

Adventure Time is so... weird.

I love Korea's version of the NOT THE FACE rule, but moreso the "Sharp knives cannot be shown on TV" rule. It's so oddly inconsistent! Especially when you see a blade censored when it's being used to cut food or something. That would make Food Network look like a really kinky channel...

I wonder if my tolerance of Bleach comes from the fact I marathoned it as opposed to reading/watching it weekly. I imagine had I gone at a much slower pace over the course of 2-3 years I'd have gone crazy and begun to be bitter the way a lot of people are.

I've always been pretty Chill with Bleach as it aired on US TV. Filler was cool, Main story, lengthy breaks for MORE filler... I was always just impressed it had a constant TV presence, that barely ever stopped.

As I've watched so many other series die off, get cancelled, or disappear, I appreciated having something stay on TV, in the shrinking market.

... I kinda miss SyFy's Animonday. GUNDAM ON TV! And got to see things like Monster, Toriko, Requiem from the Darkness, and Now and Then, Here and There.

Did anyone post the Dandy preview yet? I take back what I said about it looking promising, looks like a 'butts vs bobbies' episode *sigh*

http://youtu.be/CNKDldDzsbw

If an episode staring a little girl with neither of those attributes can get by without BooBies being mentioned (or her butt being the focal point of a shot), I think one can just give up hope on this matter.

Well, that's the next unlockable for the first Next-Gen DBZ game right there! That'd be pretty funny, even if
mama Gine
isn't suppose to be much of a fighter.

I remember running into Gundam 00 on animonday.

Flipping through channels randomly and then

what the fuck I saw a gundam

"SCI-FI HAS ANIME AGAIN! REPLAY VAMPIRE HUNTER D!" was probably close to my initial reaction.

Thanks 1990's Sci-Fi, to playing "Tenchi Muyo in Love", and having my cable go out mid-broadcast. Past me will never get over that anger. Future me would just pull up the DVD or Bluray... or find legit ways to stream it for free online. Past me wouldn't have believe that'd ever happen.

My first exposure to anime was Vampire Hunter D, Project A-Ko, and Dominion Tank Police, all on Sci-Fi.

*THE Brofist*

Sci-Fi, TBS, and any random channel that would play Twilight of the Cockroaches, D, or Robot Carnival really was a fan of mine in those days. Come to think of it, alot of of those channels were owned by Turner, eh? I guess anime has always been of interest to them.

I don't think I ever saw A-Ko on TV. Tank Police used to come on Showtime, and any time I could randomly see it or Fist of the North Star on those premium channels, I'd be on clolud 9.

It wasn't until middleschool that I understood that Voltron, Tranzor Z, Saber Rider and the Star sheriffs, and Robotech were all just as Anime as the rest of those...

toonami is lacking in the giant robot department

Why does the US dislike Giant Mecha stuff? They hooked me back in the 80s, and I'd figure it'd be as common to love as fighting and steak! Did Transformers somehow backfire? No... it was probably the Go-Bots fault.
