Nah, Kakashi pretty much laid it out for him after him and Naruto fought on that rooftop. He basically said: "If you stay here and train with me I can make you stronger and teach you a shit-ton of jutsu, but it'll take a while before you're strong enough to fight your brother." Meanwhile Orochimaru had basically said: "Fuck that hard work shit, I got drugs and shit for that."

He wasn't manipulated, he was just impatient. He thought he wasn't getting strong enough fast enough, he was pissed Naruto was outstripping him and his pride couldn't handle it. That's why he left, that picture is painted pretty clearly.
