The Kyoto arc is where things finally kick into gear. The arc I'm reading now (I'm on Chapter 51) is very "shit gets real". Even though it's another Shonen rescue arc.

Considering that the second half was mostly just talking, it was pretty watchable. Definitely a good look at Franky as a character plus an appropriate amount of exposition.
