Maybe the manga is a lot better? It seems to have a lot more details and it goes slower since it isn't trying to cram a ton of exposition every minute.

I was kind of into this show after the first couple episodes

loved what they were doing with the extradimensional stuff

but it's just stupid now because none of this makes sense

it is simultaneously overexplained and underexplained

That made infinitely more sense than last week! Still ... huh? Again, I get the feeling that if they'd have had 24 episodes and didn't have throw all of this out there in 2 minutes it could have been good. Could have spent the second season entirely on the island. Plenty of content apparently.

Like... the dots are connected somewhat, I just don't know how the dots got here.
