Most of my past nostalgic favorites are dead or not the same as they used to be. But my current favorite developers of all time are Rockstar, FromSoftware and Warhorse.

RGG Studio - good at different kinds of writting
Vanillaware - best 2D art
From Software - good art and level design
id Software - very good tech
Warhorse - great art, music, writting and tech

A few years ago I would have added Platinum and Capcom, but not today. Maybe Clovers are able to pick up the slack.

Whatever these studios put out, I'll keep an eye on, because they deliver.

Nintendo is the one exception: I don't generally buy their games, but I can't deny their willingness to change, evolve, and adapt. And they've been doing it for nearly as long as I've been alive. Always on my list of top devs.

GOTY for me right now, but just 1 game is not enough for me to enter not even in the top 20.

Top game developers != Top Engine Developer. Guerrilla Games hasn't made a good game since Killzone 3.

even the games are usually low budget, YS series, are among the best ARPGs I ever play

their pixel art & 2d animation is unbeatable back then
solid presentation and neat execution, even though not as quite inventor, but their games are very memorable
