Top game website maintainer charged with sexually assaulting a 15 year old

Before I post the news script, the person in question is a person by the name of Seashell "Eric" Gray, known in the video game community as Pachuka, or Reala. His claim to fame is running a website known as "Sonic Cult", known for having a lot of Sonic secrets information [although admittedly "stolen" from other websites or people who did the research], and practically booting out any other website based on the same material by means of being a tool.

Police arrest man for molesting teen girl

ATHERTON — An Atherton man is in jail on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old he met on the Internet.

The girl, who lives in Santa Cruz County, told police she met the suspect, Eric Robert Gray,
25, several months ago at a beach in Santa Cruz. The two exchanged addresses for instant messaging and corresponded until a couple weeks ago, when Gray suggested they meet in person again, said Atherton Police Sgt. Chris Madsen.

Gray invited
the girl to come see a movie, picked her up and then drove her to his home — a converted garage apartment on the first block of Shearer Drive, Madsen said. One there, he allegedly sexually assaulted the girl.

Gray drove the girl home afterwards, telling her
not to talk to anyone about what happened, Madsen said.

Gray was arrested on suspicion of oral copulation and digital penetration of a child under 16.

Madsen said the case is a good reason why parents should be aware of their children's
Internet activity, and in particular who they are chatting with.

"Just like ID theft, this is sort of the crime of the future," he said.

Police ask that anyone with further information call Sgt. Chris Madsen at 752-0512.

Sexual assault suspect pleads not guilty

An Atherton man charged with assaulting a teen girl he met on the Internet pleaded not guilty in San Mateo County Superior Court Wednesday.

Eric Robert Gray, 25, is charged with two counts of oral copulation, as well as sexual battery and penetration with a foreign object for allegedly forcibly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl he met online.

The prosecution alleges that Gray, who has a 2001 conviction for unlawful intercourse with a minor, met the girl in a chat room and communicated with her online for three months. On Dec. 7, Gray allegedly picked the girl up in Sunnyvale and brought her to his Atherton home to watch a movie. The defendant attempted to fondle the victim and, when she resisted, used force to sexually assault her, according to the prosecution.

Gray then allegedly drove the victim home. The victim told her friends of the alleged assault and the friends told the police, the San Mateo County district attorney's office reports.

Gray appeared in Superior Court Commissioner Joseph Gruber's courtroom with his recently retained defense attorney Kathryn Fontaine. He returns to court for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 23 at 2 p.m.

He had sold off his website [of others material] to his community for around $800, then months later came back after the community could not run the site very stable. Well, if you ever read his posts on the old eidolons-inn.de, you knew he was a nutter. Then again, most hardcore video-game collectors are (he had a great deal of unreleased Sega stuff).

That's seriously fucked up. I remember when he went to jail for the same kind of stuff years ago, it became a running joke on irc. Hell 2 days ago people were joking about this, I was wondering why people were talking about him. When I saw the thread title, I clicked, knowing deep inside that it was probably him again.

It's sad, because pachuka was a damn ressourceful guy, I recall He also worked at sega for a while, thats where he got all those betas and stuff like that. Last time I spoke to him privatly on irc, he was hacking stuff into the genesis version of mk3. He discovered all sorts of things that was left inside the rom, it was damn cool. He's a really knowledable guy.

Too bad he had to go around messing with underage girls. Oh well
 
Seriously. I know what he did is wrong, and he should rot in prison, etc., etc. But, please, SOMEONE, reach out to these 15 year-old girls who are going off with random 20- to 30-somethings they meet on the internet and EXPLAIN TO THEM what MIGHT HAPPEN.

Good god, that name brings back memories. That guy was the most arrogant poster I've ever known. I saw him on old 16-bit Sonic sites I used to go to.

His latest Sonic site just scares me. I knew something was wrong with him. I better contact my old friends. Maybe they'll take note of this news like I have... I never thought I'd hear the name Pachuka again.

I've lost them. It was a while ago, about 2001? I think the one and my friends mainly went to shut down. I think it was called Emulation Zone or something like that. It was mainly based on Sonic 2. I had friends, Hyper Saiyan Sonic and SoniquePC. Sonique had a SatAm Sonic website, but I can't remember that link either. They used to link me all the time to the board, talking about how stupid this "Pachuka" guy was. I haven't talked to those guys in ages, though. I also lost most of my favourites after a format to my hard drive a couple years ago that I needed. Since then, my friends have changed AIM names.

It used to run sites such as "Secrets of Sonic the Hedgehog" and "Sonic Area 51", among other smaller sites dedicated to other bits and pieces. Emulationzone is basically just a hosting destination now. They host Sonic HQ, my old site Sonic Fan Games HQ, The Green Hill Zone, one of the best places for Japanese Sonicteam info, and my current Secrets site, Secrets of Sonic Team

Seriously.....why in the world a 15-year-old girl would think it's safe to hang out with someone 10 years older than her, who she met online, is beyond me. I mean, I guess I could understand if she talked to him a lot and "knew" him well, but still....at least meet with him in a public place.
 
Man, I haven't heard that name in a while. Ah well, he deserves what he gets. No matter how smart the guy is technically, what a fucking dumbass.

nope, he went to sega shortly after he left 3do (which is where i met him). i'm still shaking my head about this...not that i'm in disbelief that he did this, just that i actually worked with someone who gets off on minors. damn...makes me wonder about some of the other characters i've worked with in the past.

First party I think. All I know is that he worked on that SEGA Classics pack [The GBA one], and Sonic Mega Collection. I think he worked a bit on Sonic Adventure 2 as well.

Hmm, he never posted here before? That's wierd. Anyway, he's not gonna do too well in jail looking like that. Hope he's hitting the gym already, he'll need it. Who knows, maybe the girl's mother will argue for leniancy. But fucking with the kiddies is a no-no. No pity here. PEACE.
