Well you obviously cant read because I never said that nor did I even remotely imply that at all. The target audience for this is what you are looking at in a video.
These guys are all a bunch of dude bro gamers so i'm not really surprised.
But yeah this make us look bad, and if some anti video games dude watch this you can be sure he will use it against us and seriously not much we can do I mean look a them they all look like a bunch of angry teenagers ready to kill someone .
Behavior like this is one of the factors why Professional Gaming is not respected. There's a standard to hold, absolutely.
This is a video game tournament with sponsors and money on the line. A little more self control would be nice.
Again, why should this behavior be vilified when we mute the same type of player online?
The spectacle of this serious sport we call video games (lol) doesn't mean we should be put through having to tolerate that kind of behavior.
It's not ok and if athletes have a moral obligation to their audience then why shouldn't these serious athletes playing games?
I've seen a lot of esport finals and competition (primary SC2, LoL, Dota2). Never have I seen such bad behavior. It still is not the way to behave and to promote your sport/team.
You are completely wrong I dont see how that comment says that "playing a console turns him into an idiot" at all.You kind of implied it. When you said look at this PC group playing, and now look at how civilized they are.
Thats exactly right people still get ejected for this behavior.Exactly. "Well this is how sports, and esports, are." No, it absolutely is not. I saw someone mentioning Wayne Rooney -- he doesn't mock and throw stuff at players after he wins a match. I used to play in Counter-Strike LAN tournaments, in my opinion the grossest gaming community, and I never saw anyone act like this. If you had disparaged another player like that you would have been banned from the tournament.
I don't think you can compare a sport where people are actually making contact with each other and trying to physically better each other to people sitting in chairs shooting fake bullets at each other.
This is more like a bunch of people cussing each other out at a chess or poker tournament.
I was just about to say that it's funny how the racial epithets were kept to a minimum but you can bet that it was only because they were being filmed. Now show US players but put them in their own rooms. The N-bomb usage would be staggering.

Man i really hope this is sarcasm.
Awful. Felt like punching a few of them. Swearing is one thing, but some of them just took it too far. There's no class, sportsmanship or etiquette there what-so-ever.

Yes but what happens in Pro league sports when stuff like this would go down? Suspensions? Fines?

I think its more funny than sad, so I agree. Not sure why people are acting so shocked and losing faith in humanity etc.
Except if you go online and play people talk like this regularly. Lets not sit here and pretend like its a select few people that have this level of maturity. I don't even plug in my headphones anymore unless I'm getting in a private chat because of how rampant this behavior gets.
As was mentioned a few posts back, this is something that you notice in these types of games. I, alongside others, have watched plenty of competitive online which doesn't quite get this bad.
Sure, in the history of mankind someone on every game has had an infantile fit. In these types of games (shooters) you tend to see it bring out a long of immaturity that is worrying to see how that shapes or affects these people.
It's more on the psychology side of things but it's very worrying. I brought up phones for a reason earlier. You know how many times I've gone out and seen 2-4 friends hanging out with their heads buried in their phones hardly talking? I lost count.
It may not seem like an issue now but I would argue that if this trend continues with aggressive behavior in games and phones for teens then I worry about the state of things come 10-30 years from now.
No not really, but would you mind to explain to me how can this not be used as an argument against gamers being dangerous and all that media are talking about lately ?
Reminded me of Top-level Halo competitions...
Any (most) games that are competitive brings this out of people, this is not exclusive nor more prominent in shooters.
You are completely wrong I dont see how that comment says that "playing a console turns him into an idiot" at all.
Yes they are less strenuous. Saying that they aren't makes me think that you've never actually played a sport. Having someone push you to the ground every other minute or constantly putting their hands in your face and causing you physical harm isChess and Poker have managed to cultivate more dignified environments where trash talk is not acceptable so I'm not sure the comparison is apt. Sure esports may not be as physically demanding as any real sport, but it doesn't necessarily mean they're less strenuous or mean any less to these players because of it. And really that's what it comes down to, when you consider the emotional investment that goes into playing something competitively, you're bound to hear trash talk or have instances of bad sportsmanship( if
it's allowed ) when emotions ride high; it's human nature .
I'm not wrong. I'm just saying that your statement implied PC Elitist. At least that is the impression that the majority of responders got from your statement. However, when you were questioned you explained what you meant by your statement. And I completely agree with your follow up explanation, "that the venue dictates the behavior" (paraphrased).

I'm not arguing that. I am saying that in these types of genres, shooters, it brings out this kind of behavior more. I'm not just trying to fabricate it, I've experienced it online and mute everyone for that very reason.
None of what I said implied that he would turn into an idiot for playing a consoleI'm not wrong. I'm just saying that your statement implied PC Elitist. Yeah man playing on my console turns me into a fucking idiot. Please save me.
Makes sense that a sport where you do not really expend your energy, it will find a different venting mechanism. Because the tensions run as high as ever.
However, some of the elitism and hypocrisy being shown in this thread already is baffling. Unless of course you are a saint and/ or have the patience of one.
You could fit an entire galaxy inbetween saying ''damnit'' when an opponent scores in Fifa and this.
In the esports scene, which is what this thread is about, that's just plain untrue. I've watched dozens of professional RTS tournaments (and even some PC FPS ones) and I've never seen any behaviour even remotely close to this.Any (most) games that are competitive brings this out of people, this is not exclusive nor more prominent in shooters.
Sure, obviously not every COD player acts like this. I never said they did. But its also not so rare that we should pretend like this is just some smart editing job done by Eurogamer. And if a league actually wants to be taken seriously then they need to make sure their competitors don't act like total asshole trolls.I'm not pretending anything. I also think that a majority of online (PC, PS3, 360) are all shit, certain games attract certain crowds, but it's not indicative of the entire scene. But with this situation you can't say "all COD players are cussing bro's" because this behavior is completely in control of the producers.
Shit on TV doesn't happen unless they want it to happen.
While I can't discount the behavior of the players, this is something that comes down to personal accountability, I can't help but thinking there was a producer in the ear of
these kids so they could make some "good TV".
I couldn't understand half of what was being said.

No one is going to take professional gaming seriously if there are people that constantly act like the people that we go out of our way to mute online. I don't want to watch a bunch of unlikable douchbags try to act like they're tough. I want to watch quality competitive gameplay.
If I was sitting and watching a stream of
COD players and a match started with a team like this acting the way they are I'd just turn it off. I go out of my way to avoid these people online, so why the hell would I subject myself to a bunch of assholes getting so mad that they will yell unintelligible words at each other?
I wonder who got suspended and fined. At least they have repercussions . Doesnt really prove your point.
