I can present no source but it's true. PR will follow some time in 2013, I guess.

Just wanted to post some positive news at the end of 2012. Happy new year GAF!

edit: and here's the source

Pretty amazing numbers, imo.

Horribly shallow and boring, Diablo 3 is ages ahead despite the disaster thats the Ah and drops.

Def the last TL i buy. Quit playing one after 15 hours, 2 after 10. Total snoozefest.

Good for them.

Funny how I thought that Torchlight 2 coming out after Diablo 3 would make it a huge bomb.

Now I wouldn't be surprised if TL2, coming out after D3 actually helped drive sales. So many dissapointed D3 byers trying to get their fix from another source.

there's a joke here about not being 100% and not liking a great game (TL2) but i can't find it.

also congrats to Runic, just wish they'd have implemented controller support somehow.

Are you sure you aren't thinking about Diablo 3?

Nicely done, now improve the online and do it again. :p

Oh man i totally forgot about the gamespy online straight from 2000. Made me never playing it online with my buddy i bought this game for as a gift (at least he liked it).

Oh well, glad to see waiting until after Diablo 3 wasn't all doom and gloom.

I felt the game was a pretty huge let-down unfortunately, something felt very 'off'.

Just curious, how long did torchlight 2 manage to keep your interest? How long did you expect diablo 3 to? It definitely doesn't seem like many people played it beyond 10-20 hours, despite the claims that torchlight 2 would be the real diablo 2 successor

You're a pretty blatant troll, considering the garbage that is D3 matchmaking.

Is that a super duper success, or just a super success?

Either way I hope they don't go through with their plans from a while back to do a Torchlight MMO. :c

you are welcome :)

I'm only just getting into the game, but I got to say it seems much more interesting character development wise than Diablo 3. D3 looks pretty, but holy shit is character progression linear! May as well just make leveling up automated and be done with it :/

Great game. Not terrible well balanced, and the skills seriously need better descriptions, but the game was really fun anyways. Tons of builds possible, with most of them feeling quite unique. Huge surprise for me, as I didn't particularly care for the first game. The loot was the highlight, however. Far more interesting drops than anything in D3.

I hate to be the party pooper but the sales alone don't tell that much, what about the revenue ?

7-10 million$ at worst I guess. Steam's cut is 30% and it wasn't heavily discounted but it was sold on sales. The base price is 20$.

Launched at $20, I believe never sold for less then $10. Let's say average sale price of $15, steam gets 30% cut. So around $10 million for the company

Played both for ~50 hours each. Found TL2 to be more fun since I started out at the hardest difficulty level and didn't have to be bored out of my mind waiting for the game to be challenging.

Would love to see this as a 720 XBLA launch title. The first was great on 360. Worked really well.

I would happily double-dip (again).

Yeah, TL2 couldn't hold my interest. First off, the skill trees sucked. Second off, combat just wasn't fun because of that. That kills 90% of the enjoyment of the game. Maybe modders can fix it but I'm not optimistic.

I played TL1, buyt got turned off by the extremely repetitive dungeons and gameplay. Everything was just a new tileset of previous levels. Did TL2 fix those issues?

That looks like more of a crude hack than official controller support to me. But my curiosity is piqued, I have to try it.

Edit: Yeah, it's garbage. All it does is remap your controller to mouse/keyboard functions. It's not anything close to official controller support. The movement and attacks are all still cursor based so this utility isn't anything close to playable. Official controller support would be better because movement and would be direct input and attacks would be directional and not cursor based.

I pre-order mines and haven't played it, TL2 was going to be the game i played while i waited for GW2, it got delayed and i never installed it one of these days i will play it...

is $14.99 the cheapest it has been discounted during the holiday sale?

I know prior to the holiday sale, it was available from Gamestop for $10 for like, a day. That's when I picked it up, and am immensely glad I did. Great game. I enjoyed D3 for what it was, but I've enjoyed the loot and build variety so much more in this game.

Still no Mac version, yay. -_-

I played TL2 in Hardcore mode, and eventually died in Act3 in a single hit, it was fun though formulaic and 'safe'. I couldn't bother to read even a single line of dialogue..

I tried playing again using a non-HC character, and it just felt so boring to me! There was no challenge/reward, just potion spamming and constant loot gardening. It just isn't any fun without any real risk to me.. I guess I had my fill of Diablo-likes.

I wouldn't say it is that bad but I quit playing pretty fast too. It lost some of its charm of the 1st one. I won't be buying a 3rd unless it gets rave reviews.

Path of Exile is better imo and is free.
