Total War: Warhammer 3 | Immortal Empires

Tag, you're it.
Creative Assembly is slowly revealing the biggest update yet for any Total War game. This is the quintessential sandbox experience of the Total War: WARHAMMER campaign...

WARHAMMER-III-Immortal-Empires-Map-Reveal_Banner.jpg

wh3_dlc_ie_parchment_map_english.jpg

Immortal Empires will have 278 regions and 554 colonies (respectively 183 and 401 in TWW2's Mortal Empire):

MORTAL EMPIRESIMMORTAL EMPIRES
SETTLEMENTS401554*
STARTING FACTIONS183278*
LEGENDARY LORDS7486
*These figures may change as CA receive beta feedback

The Immortal Empires map is MASSIVE: in fact it is the biggest map any Total War game has featured to date, and nearly twice as large as the Mortal Empires map from Total War: WARHAMMER II.

What's New in Immortal Empires

Immortal Empires is much more than the sum of each game’s content smashed together into a larger map.
Rather, the new game mode offers a variety of new features and approaches to the combined battlefield:
  • Access all 86 Legendary Lords from all three Total War: WARHAMMER titles
  • Be’Lakor is now a Legendary Lord with his own faction
  • Dedicated factions for a number of the older Legendary Lords, including: Grombrindal, Helman Ghorst, and Volkmar the Grim
  • New starting locations for 29 of the older Legendary Lords
  • Improved personal faction mechanics for a selection of the older Legendary Lords (such as Volkmar the Grim)
  • A new ‘Sea Lanes’ feature, which allow you to move armies between distant lands and continents from one side of the map to the other
  • New dynamic end-game scenarios: Randomized mid to late-game challenges where the player is so powerful that there’s little-to-no challenge left. Think Greenskin invasions or resurgences of the undead, as a few examples…
  • Revamped victory conditions: Better reasons to finish your campaigns and a greater level of satisfaction for doing so: simplified victory requirements into more meaningful objectives
  • Corruption rework: Players will have new tools for spreading (or reducing) corruption through more active usage of their armies. Small amounts of natural reduction will also be available to uncorrupted factions
  • 8-player multiplayer campaigns: And as a bonus, only the host of an Immortal Empires multiplayer campaign needs to own all three games

Introducing: Sea lanes

With the scale of the Immortal Empires map in mind, Sea Lanes have been introduced to add flexibility to your globe-trotting adventures.
Interacting with them will provide the option to travel from the East of the map to the West and vice versa (with the exception of the Underworld Sea), allowing for more exotic confrontations to be had, new allegiances to be formed, and unique roleplaying opportunities when once-distant factions meet for the first time. Any Lord or Hero will be able to move into the Sea Lane markers, allowing them to set sail and reach their destination after being at sea for a few turns.

Click [here] to access the map showing the new Sea Lanes.

As a chaos player I really want to play this, but Mortal Empires was the only mode I ever played on 2, so I've been waiting for Immortal Empires to drop before I pick this instalment up.

I'm also waiting for IE for TWW3. But i thought about playing Mortal Empires for TWW2. Is it worth it? And do i have goals since i've read it's basically Sandbox.
I would love to have victory goals in Mortal Empires.

I bought the game at launch which I kinda regret because the campaign is trash even with mods to remove the chaos gates and I only wanted to play empires.
The game is cheap now.

Amazing, can't wait.

Mortal Empires was pretty fun and the only thing I didn't like about III was the new mechanics (portals/nexus) so this should fix that.

It will be hard for them to top this afterwards. I'm not sure if I can go back to historic after going high fantasy. I'd like to see them do a Lord of the Rings series or Game of Thrones.

I'd say yes it is worth it but if you can wait a little bit longer it's gonna be better than ever in TWW3!

Yeah, i really want to play TWW3 and thought Mortal Empires would be worth it. Maybe i can wait a little longer. It looks really awesome in TWW3.
What about Goals, are there any or is it just straight Sandbox?

Fuck, yes. I really hope that's what's coming. Can't really imagine a modern setting with their engine but I'd be down.

Relic's take on Warhammer was amazing but couldn't get into III, it was a shame.

You set your own goal, there is a little bit of narration but that's it. You can have a quick look at how it is here.
Honestly it is worth it if you really can't wait to give it a try, but TWW3 will be superior in every aspect (just the diplomacy for example is already a big step up from TWW2).

Plus, the 8 player coop Immortal Empires campaign will be something to behold.

I love these games but.... they make time absolutely disappear into oblivion. I am over here like... ah this one turn... oh wait redo. Then 2 turns later I look at the clock and 2 hours have disappeared. I am like hold up... I gotta save scum again cause greenskins just invaded my territory with a wAAGGHH that I overlooked!

I call that the "just one more turn!" syndrome.

Ogre factions came as bonus for everyone who preordered or bought the game within a few weeks of release. Think its purchasable as dlc otherwise

New Legendary Lord announced, releasing alongside Immortal Empires in August. The next three LL's will be announced in the coming weeks.

I have Total War: Warhammer 1 and 2 on Steam but the loading times are so frickn long, i wish i've had an SSD.
I hope in TTW3 the loading times are shorter.

Has performance improved at all since May? I stopped playing due to the fact that every patch introduced more issues than the last. From crashing, to stuttering making the game unplayable, to the FPS dropping so frequently on a fairly decent rig (3070ti with an i9-12900 + plus SSD), to even MORE stuttering and somehow worse performance on med/low compared to TWW2 on ultra. I'd redownload the game but I don't want to waste bandwidth or time doing so if my experience is anything like the issues I've had to deal with a week after the game released. I managed to have fun the first week and after the first patch/hotfix it all went downhill to the point I couldn't even play it anymore. I might as well just wait until IE releases and they "fix" it a few dozen times. I am excited to play it, and I own all there is from the previous two games, but CA has seriously left me with a poor impression after this and Three Kingdoms.

I'm even playing a little bit of Kislev on WH3 right now just to warm up. I haven't played much of WH3, aside from the prologue. It's always been about Immortal Empires and achieving their original goal for me. Honestly once Mortal Empires came out for WH2 I never touched the Vortex campaign again.

My biggest issue with Kislev that it needs a rework, and more unit variety. Konstatyn should not be able to use Frost Witches, and should have different units to counter act his hate towards such magic. Him having the ability to use the same units without any change or different units is kinda meh

Really excited for this. Wood elves had a rework a while back so I may start with them. Chaos looks like a lot of fun as well. Khorne was insane in WH3.

Where will they go from here? Seems like the ultimate total war. Only thing I would love is that you can take over any soldier on the battlefield FPS view and fight, that would be epic.

Well WH3 will get content for two more years, maybe more. The other core team is making an historical game, rumored to be Empire 2 though Medieval 3 is a possibility. Hopefully we'll see an announcement next year.

It's anyone's guess what the core Warhammer team (not the DLC team) is working on now. I don't want them to do a 40k series tbh. I think it's too ambitious for CA's own good. They need to stick with swords and early gunfire weaponry. A LotR game is the most obvious setting though with the recent Embracer LotR IP acquisition, Sega will need to offer a deal to make that possible. A LotR TW game will print money for all involved so I imagine it won't be too difficult to convince Embracer to share LotR rights with the Total War IP.

They could use this template for future Total War games, even the historical ones.

The thought of this template within a medieval setting makes my rock hard hard member violently throb.

Medieval 3.1: Europe campaign. 3.2: Crusade campaign + both maps combined. 3.3: New world campaign + all three maps combined.
I can dream can't I? 😁

I've been meaning to get into Total Warhammer for years but never really had the time commitment for learning the game. Well, the rest of this year is quite barren for games I'm interested in and today's update looks incredibly awesome so ~$160 later I'm all in at last!

Just gotta suffer through 5 more hours of boring work...

If I want to play this, do I need to own all games and DLC?

Seems you can join a multi-player game if you only own the 3rd one but not play it on your own. Need the other games to play on your own and the dlc will unlock respective race/faction.

You're dream may come true. Rumor is the next historical Total War game is just named Total War: Medieval, not Medieval 3.

https://www.pcgamesn.com/total-war-medieval

What makes this fuzzy is that it could be part of their re-branding campaign for older games to bring "Total War" from the subtitle to the main title. Transforming Medieval: Total War to Total War: Medieval. Or the trademark was expiring and had to be re-established and they took advantage of that by adding a modern version of the title. Or they could be doing this for a remaster like they did for Rome.

I would love a Medieval game but that trademark could be a nothing burger.

It's a lot of fun but it's not perfect. I tried Chaos yesterday and in forty turns I had two battles. The rest were sieges which I auto resolve because they're so boring.

Empire campaign is better but also annoying since you have to run all over the map putting out fires after they nerfed garrisons so cities fall way too easily. Even high level Altdorf is an easy auto resolve for the ai now.
