for those interested in giving darktide a shot if you haven't already, tomorrow would be the day. Despite the new class focus, they are actually overhauling the new player experience, to make the difficulty curve more natural and the story more cohesive. No more will new level 15's decide to dive into the hardest content in the game, much to the horror of those they are matched with. You have to earn that right.

However a new class with a pet dog certainly brings something new to the table, and everone is looking forward to seeing the Mourning Star taken over by our furry/mechanical friends and their Judge Dredd masters.

What a badass class and trailer. i need to redownload this game. I played it 1.5 years ago and it changed a lot since and i have a new GPU too, so i could run this at max settings now with RT. Shit looked insane

Have been playing the game for the past eight months almost nonstop, and it's an extremely high-quality PvE shooter. In particular, I have never experienced better melee combat in an FPS. Trailer looks badass, happy to see that they are still developing the game.

Must have about 60 hours of gameplay time on PS5 but, I don't know, this game is missing something, it's the same 5 missions on repeat (with various modifiers) and as soon as you reach lvl 30...that's it, do it with another class all over again®.

I don't get it, Vermintide 2 wasn't like this, it had more maps, more variation, more... everything, this one still feels like it's in beta state ffs and I don't get it, it's been what ? 3 years since it released ?

Love the music, the atmosphere, the moment to moment gameplay but the repetition is just too strong.

Don't think that's true.
The game is "finished" after you have become an auric storm survivor and reached Havoc assignment level 40.
I would go even further and claim that you are only truly "done" with the game if you can handle yourself in an auric maelstrom mission without being dependent on the rest of the team. An astronomic skill level is required to achieve that.

Which, to achieve that, you have to repeat /grind the same 5 missions over and over and over again.

This is exactly what I'm talking about Goal 😁

except there are 7 zones now which outside of "Inter-Zone Void Sector Omega-12" which has 1, has between 1-4 missions. these missions outside of maybe 2 areas which act as the "zone hub" are completely unique and can take between 25-40 minutes depending on difficulty. Add onto that Rolling Steel (a short 15 minute mission on a moving train) and the Mortis Trials (horde mode with modifiers) this has not been the case for this game for around 2+ years now.

STARS, explain it to me like I'm 5 : does it have new maps yes or no ? 😁

it depends when you last played but yes,

very close to release they launched Hourglass (im talking like 2 weeks in) which where the desert outside areas. they also added Throneside a few months later and then The Carnival after a year and bit most recently they added "Inter-Zone Void Sector Omega-12" and later "rolling steel"

seen below

each zone have a unique overarching aesthetic, but outside of the latter two have multiple missions that lead into more unique places, Throne side for example you can be "outdoors" within the middle spires trying to retake a key defensive base one mission, or "indoors" in another delving into the spiralling staircase of a giant library to the datacenter at its core. You often forget there the same "map" until you wander into a middle area, that another mission shares at one point.

At launch Darktide had Metalfab 36 (a smelter complex) The Torrent (lower hive water plant and related ganger cartel area) and Chasm Terminus (the generic hive area, featuring transport hub and living quarters) and each zone had 2 unique missions for a total of 6, they have also expanded all these areas since launch with additional missions on top of what they started with so these zones have 3-4 taking you to more areas, which like I said prior outside of a room or two are unique.

Is this a free update or paid?

Outside of very strange server connection behaviour they've finally fixed both the game and the meta.

Looking forward to return to my veteran Ferik Jurgen.

The update is out including the new campaign and improved early game experience. The class is not released for a few hours but if you are looking to try the game on gamepass with one of the free existing classes. Now would be a great time to start.
