I love the shot of the vault with the "Song of the South" stuff in it.

The library does not house the animated films themselves such as Bambi, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, or Pinocchio. The staff did not know the storage location of these "original" films, and I would suspect it is a closely guarded secret. But I was told that the Library of Congress has a copy of many of the classics, and when it came time to restore Bambi, Disney utilized the copy held by the Library of Congress. The ARL's main role in these restoration projects is to have the original artwork available for review, provide high-resolution scans of the artwork for reference purposes, as well as locate any artwork that might be of use for bonus material.

Wow. That's frickin gorgeous. I also have a lot of admiration for the backround artists and ink & paint crew. The pictures in that link are just amazing.

It makes you wonder how the biggest company in 2-d hand drawn animation has now put all its hopes into a 3-d CG company like Pixar..

I mean dont get me wrong, I love pixar but Disney was built around its animated movies... Snow White, Lady and the Tramp, moives like that are going to be around long after I am gone, and I am so glad that Pixar is telling Disney that they need to start up their animation dept again, because When I think disney I dont think Toy Story or Incredibles... I think Snow White, Lion King, Peter Pan, Cinderella, ect...

But as a movie buff, and a film major when I was in college, seeing all that history gives me the chills.
