Transformer One is fucking awesome

I decided to skip this movie in theaters because of the promo materials looking goofy as shit, but good word of mouth and finally this thread made me give it a shot on the big screen.
It was indeed pretty damn good, glad I still went before it left theaters.

I only wish the art style was better. It reminds me of what happened with Ugly Sonic, but nobody was brave enough to correct these guys.

These movies are obsessed with taking Optimus's mouthplate off. But if it's half as dope as I keep hearing it is, I can forgive that. My local theater's dying and not playing it, but I'd love to catch this on the big screen if I can find it somewhere.

Hey instead of making you know, a Transformer the main character in this Transformers movie let’s get this douchebag zero people on planet earth like and name him Whitney Winkles or whatever and make him the star of the show!

It’ll be great. It’ll be great.

It’ll be great.

Just watched it with my kids best transformer movie by far!!!!
Same watched with my wee lad who was a big fan of original Bayverse and we really enjoyed it, I loved the whole Megatron descent, was handled really well, decent wee flick, really didn't like Optimus voice :-(

Its better than Rise of the Beasts, for sure. Chris Hemsworth sounds weird as Optimus. Megatron is a tad too emotional and Optimus was too goofy. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my time with the movie, my son loved it.

It is fine.

Isn’t your kid like 6 months old. I endorse indoctrination into transformers at such a young age.

Just watched it last night and yea, it was good. Very surprised. Cause the promo materials made it seem like a dumb kids movie with dumb jokes.

But the jokes were actually really well scripted and not cringe. And a lot of action. And yea its 'for kids' but they smartly placed in the violence and kills in a clever way to make the grade and still portray the impact.

Saying "Marketing dropped the ball" doesn't really give off the gravity of how much they failed.

It was the only one even remotely good beyond the first one.
And I saw them BOTH in the theatre!
But anyway…. ONE is good. My son enjoyed it.

Watched this over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised with the adult nature of the movie.

When he ripped that guy in half, ripped out his core, then shoved it in his chest I gained a new found respect for Megatron.

Hasbro is just incompetent. They also dropped the ball on D&D: Honor Among Thieves, a surprising actually good story. Also next to no marketing.

As much as I'd like to completely blame them when it comes to films it's generally the studio that pushes the marketing. In this case Paramount who should have been pushing but utterly failed in that but with that first trailer that turned nearly everyone off.

This movie was awesome!
I was surprised how enjoyable it was, I think it's a great movie for both who grew with the 80's show and those who never watched Transformers.

I watched the movie because of this topic and even tough i'm not transformers lover at all, the visuals , action , story and even humor was a 10/10 to me. Looking to by the 4k disc now !

I also watched it last weekend I also liked the movie as well. I am a big Transformer fans ever since I was a kid. I would watch the old stuff to the new stuff including the live action movies. I was very skeptical of Transformers One not being what I watched Transformers back the in the day.

The 80’s Transformers cartoon is still my all favorite cartoon of all time. The Michael Bay’s Transformers movies had a lot of problems but it kept me wake with excitement and explosions. When I heard that the original voice actor who voiced Optimus Prime and many of the others well know Transformers.

I was like nope I’m not going to see that but I gave the movie a try because deep down my childhood me would have not let go this year or next without seeing Transformers One.

I was laughing and rooting for Bumblebee the whole way. The comedy, the action, the story, the characters, the betrayal, and new beginning came together all too perfect in this movie. Easy 10/10 for me. I can not wait till they make a sequel to this movie! Transformers Two.

I think Hasbro should greenlight the sequel regardless of Box office performance, because those trailers for this movie bombed it so fucking hard. I didn't have the intention of watching it as they looked childish, but we saw it on matinee here in the UK. Holy shit that was one of the best "Grimdark" transformers movie in awhile. Megatron's origin was the best thing ever. I was surprised how they made Optimus this risk taker, but Megatron was actually a "Trust Authority" person.

I felt the same way. I'm not sure that the trailers did it any favors. I also caught it at a matinee and I enjoyed it so much I bought another ticket and watched it again.

Those trailers were the reason I was not interested in the movie at all and was trying to talk my kid into seeing something else.

We ended up with Transformers and I was blown away how good it was and how bad the trailers made it seem.

Same, the trailer turned me off because I thought it was gonna be a corny kids movie. And not like oh Disney/Pixar kids movie which are generally good.

Like 7 years and below kids movie. And instead we got lots of action, really funny jokes, and actual story and themes.

Watched it last night. Given the word-of-mouth I was expecting this to blow my socks off but it didn't. Still a good movie, though.

Gave me the itch to rewatch the original Transformers movie, which I probably haven't watched in like 30 years.

Yeah. That is what annoys me about the movie. They did not bother to make them look like the original G1 Transformers.

The old, animated movie is still the best.

It was good but the word of mouth is kinda overblown. It's just a good, straight to the point TF movie. The original Bay trilogy really is a different type and take, you can like both.

The trailers definitely let it down a bit, the visual style probably being even more to blame; why couldn't they just go with the War for Cybertron Netflix look (it looks excellent).

I'm so used to long, overly drawn out movies that Megatron's fall into madness seemed really dramatic and sudden, in my honest opinion. That's not to say there weren't good parts of it, like his scenes of raging violence were impactful, for sure. But it felt rushed, again probably because it's a normal length movie and not a drawn out 2+ hour mess.

Other points:
Keegan is annoying, as per usual
Hemsworth' voice often sounds phony, like pretending to do his best Cullen impression, and often just sounds like dumb-Thor.
Similarly, Megatron doesn't have a great voice
Starscream though, that was good
