The combos aren't really that crazy.
Game starts with Easy, Normal and Hard difficulties. Easy would be more managable than Normal.
Mind you I'm no Platinum action games pro but I managed to beat Normal with few/minimal deaths.
Once you get a handle of the combat system you'll be able to deal with battles much faster and easier.
Man, if only this game could sell well enough to justify a bigger budget for a sequel. Could you imagine if Platinum Games made a Transformers: The Movie game?
The worst thing about TECH is when you nail the timing minigame and Wheeljack goes "THIS IS LEGENDARY!" but instead of a +20% or whatever for a bonus, it says -20% instead. Who thought that was a good idea to troll players?! Lol.
Good point about the weapons. I never thought of that. What Is everyone's goto layout?
I'm liking sniper rifle on the left slot. Twin swords up top (hammer is too slow) blaster on right slot and rocket or grenade launcher down the bottom.
I have a S-level Menasor sword, and some not so great guns, but one of them electro-stuns everyone but Menasor and Devastator, so that's pretty fucking good. When it comes to melee weapons I just use whatever is the hardest hitting (with attack speed in mind.) Most of the game I used a 2000+ hyper hammer, but now my 2500+ sword is all I need.
The difficulty in this game is all about what gear you have. Don't forget to level up your shit. I used a level 30 Menasor sword for the last few chapters on hard, I slayed everyone in my path, has like 2500 attack power.
I tried a challenge on Magnus diff, and got my ass kicked again. So I guess that's how difficulty evolves in this game. You just have to get better gear.
Made a Google Docs and listed whatever weapon skills I had & their effects. It's definitely not complete and eventually I'd like to test the effects of the vague bonuses (ex, "Increases the length Focus lasts. (Lvl. 1/2/3/4/5)".
Not sure I fully understand this implementation of dodge offset - do you have to hold down the attack buttons as you dodge? Seems like half the time I end up doing the charges instead. I feel like I'm getting away with just dodging as I attack without having to hold, but it doesn't seem consistent.
Yoshesque does a good tutorial and explanation of dodge offset. Even thought she's a Bayonetta player, it's the same mechanic regardless.
I went over it briefly here
It works the same as it does in Bayonetta and Ninja Gaiden. but in Transformers: Devastation it's much easier to do with a greater reward.
If you do the regular 3 hit heavy combo in the air, you get this:
However if you do Dodge Offset, you get this:
To do the dodge offset, simple press an attack button as you would normally, then press dodge, then press attack, then dodge to cancel and then attack which will give you the finisher. You don't need to hold the attack button.
However in TA, you can cancel during early frames of the animation, basically meaning, so long as you pressed the attack button, you can cancel it instantly into dodge and the game still thinks it's part of the combo.
The reason why you would want to do dodge offset is to keep a combo going into a finisher.

It's the same theme but a different version, I think phase 1 of that fight is the theme I was talking about. Laser cage fight is chapter 1 after chasing him, same theme I believe. Theme is awesome regardless though, thanks!

I know. This is definitely a budget Platinum game. That's not to say anything bad about it, but when you publish under such a scummy publisher such as Hacktivision, then they will charge full price for it. Again, I'm getting a lot of out of this but it's clearly not on the levels as Bayonetta and Wonderful101 in terms of content.
Really liking what I've played so far on the whole. Ch2 was a bit annoying in places with some shitty platforms and stupid door things but the combat system is easy to pick up and plays really well. Also has depth. Some hidden collectables but mainly art. Fun game.
You should. Before Devastation it was the closest you could get to G1.
Anyway the weapon drops are random right? Because man, I only have one A rank weapon and a few B ranks. Upgraded one B weapon which had no attack stats, but I removed that feature. Synthesis seems random as well hehe.
just finished Transformers Devastation with my friend on PS4
this is really good game, how ever,i felt its too repetitive , and many places are used again, it felt really lazy
the combos are good , but not that deep
if you wanna play it , only use 1 character per full play , don't change the character all the time
and like everyone noticed , the game is really short
So the data logs you collect shed more light about
Nova Prime and his space Odyssey.
And of course, Jhiaxus is one of his crewmates lol
@LORD, regarding the ending
they're either gonna borrow stuff from the comics or he might be corrupted by Unicron somehow.
In the comics Nova Prime was the first Prime, having united all of Cybertron and ushered them into a 2nd Golden age, he then leaves Cybertron with other cybertronians to explore the galaxy. His crew enters a wormhole which leads to a world that corrupts him and turns him evil. The corruption in the comic was known as D-Void, so maybe that one would be used in a hypothetical sequel?

i am not familiar with the comic or even the old cartoon
but , if they gonna make a sequel , they should make section of the game where you combine all the good guys together just like power ranger

Thinking about buying it today. Just want to know how much gunplay is in the game. Transformers to me as always been about robots shooting guns. I saw some of it in the trailers, but is it just like 99 percent brawler, 1 percent shooter?

I always thought the dodge window in Bayo 2 was pretty generous compared to Bayo 1.
Regardless, what messes me up sometimes are the attack flashes. In Bayo, the flashes go away as soon as the attack comes out right? Here sometimes enemies attack instantly, other times it's super delayed. It's tricky. I love it, but it's tricky.
Also, I realize that holding the dodge buttom to transfrom is probably for the benefit of dodging in vehicle mode, but I dunno. Maybe an option for that in the future would be appreciated.
OMG this ass whupping I'm laying on Megatron right now with Bumblebee. These drums in the background absolutely killing it. This is...this is the best.
And I just finished him with a vehicle mode FLASH KICK.
The lack of multiplayer can't be helping. It seemed to be a popular feature of the WFC/FOC games. Not being able to play as any Decepticons is also a point against Devastation over HM's games.

Citing IDW would be the best thing. And hey, it's one of the more current sources that continues the G1 story, so at least taking a few cues with a Platinum twist would be something I'd expect.

Just found a sweet trick with this game that lets you farm items, weapons and money incredibly easily! Very simple to do and you get very rare weapons quickly + item drops and obviously lotsa money. I forgot to add, it helps if you have additional bonuses on such as extra EXP, Money and Item drops as a well as a farming weapon. But even still, lot's-a fun. Not sure if Activision will patch this.
It's probably my favorite Platinum combat system for that reason. The feedback/sense of impact is unmatched. I could rush attack guys for days
The game just really clicks with me. Unlike Bayonetta, the art design and soundtrack really tickle my fancy. Prolly my main issue is the weapons not being distinguished enough from each other, but I'm finding the combat depth satisfactory. I hardly use the shove, spin attack, ground pound, and reversal - and I still have a blast with it. Guns and rush attacks add a lot of utility. The amount of named enemies/bosses is mindblowing to me. The repeated environments are suspect, but thank god this is a character action game or I might really be bothered by them.
Right now, at this point in time, Transformers: Devastation is amazing! I love it!
