Tron: Ares | Official Trailer

Interesting to see Jeff in the trailer, especially after the last movie. Flynn lives!
But the trope "fantasy world comes into our real one" is soooo old. Destroyed Masters of the Universe and other franchises. Very low hopes on this one, especially since I LOVE the Tron movies.

Soundtrack will be trash. Should have gotten Aphex Twin, Kode9 anybody really. I'll probably skip it due to my irritational hatred of nine inch nails. The 90's ended 25 years ago and this guy still sounds exactly the same it's tired and dated.
This track sounds good though:

I'm probably going to just find the instrumentals if they layer too many lyrics on these songs. I feel like Tron songs don't need lyrics.

Still don't know how I feel about the overall plot, but I love Tron so much, so I'm keeping an open mind. The new trailer is kind of… too good, imo. Like, it feels like a polished Star Wars trailer, and not as scrappy as I'd like it to be.

Pleasantly surprised by the music so far. I was pretty nervous about NIN getting the gig, but it seems to suit the style of the movie so far.

I just hope Disneyland revives the Tron World they had circa 2013. Playing four hours of Donkey Kong and Space Paranoids in a replica Flynn's Arcade was literally like living in a dream for me.

No hot chicks detected…

End of line….

There are some fit chicks in very tight, form fitting tron suits, so I think we are gonna get some fan service.

Season 3 Smiling GIF by The Simpsons

This trailer vaguely hints at the story being somewhat reminiscent of Blade Runner. At least in a small way. Even a couple of visual shots are similar.
I wouldn't be opposed to that, considering Denise Villanova fumbled his sequel so badly.

Definitely seeing this one and looking forward to the NIN soundtrack. With Leto's supposed off screen er…antics…Disney doesn't seem to GAF.

Trent released the soundtrack on his youtube channel. Here it is.

Daft Punk original to compare

Oh damn, I've been excited for this. I wanted Daft Punk, but NIN is a good alternative. But I'm not sure if I should listen to the soundtrack before I see the movie…

You might want to wait. Some songs hint at what's going on.
Yeah would have been nice to have more Daft Punk. I really like "the grid"

I'm pretty psyched for this, probably need to get imax tickets soon. My son is iffy on it, so I'm torn between reading up on the film to see if he may like it or going in blind myself just to have a better experience. Damn kids ruin everything :P

I saw NIN last weekend in Fort Worth. I've been a fan since 1992, but I was honestly questioning if it would feel like old guys past their prime.

NOPE!
  • Trent's voice is still the same, and he's still got the same energy he had almost 20 years ago.
  • Josh Freeze is back and he still hits hard.
  • They played a bunch of old hits like Reptile and Heresy. The crowd was super into it. Tons of energy.
  • I was surprised how good Boyz Noise (the opener) was.
Fantastic show. Probably the best I've seen in many years.

I see this a lot as I got to a bunch of 80's acts.

But I cringe thinking about guys like Marilyn Manson, who isn't that old but had an act that would feel REALLY dated if he put it on now. Does he still tour? Do women show up to lead their dad bod husbands around with collar and lease?

Lotta 90's 00's acts were so full of angst and rage, not sure they can successfully pivot to middle age. Glad NIN is going strong, I don't recall ever seeing them back in the day.

I saw Tool and Deftones a couple of years ago, and A Perfect Circle in May. All of them still "had it". I guess I always thought when guys hit 60 they wouldn't be able to sustain the energy to jump around, interact with the crowd, scream, etc., but that doesn't seem to be a problem with the bands from the 90s.

As for MM, Live Nation shows he's on tour right now. I haven't paid attention to anything they did after Mechanical Animals, which was okay-ish at the time.

I am in the process of building a top 10 list of "coolest looking most boring movies of all time". It's not finished yet, but here are the top 2:

1) Tron: Legacy
2) Tron

Considering that Legacy's director is still involved (edit: as a producer, thanks Bloodsent Bloodsent ) on this one, I'll keep a warm spot open at #3.

Listening to the music right now, it's really good (as expected) but it's still not God tier like Daft Punk (as expected).

I just saw Weird Al live, and that dude is 65 but performs like he's in his 30s. It was nuts. I'm half his age and I don't have that much energy.

I also find Legacy's soundtrack boring. Most of it is variations of Hans Zimmer bwaaaaam that was so cool in 2010.

I loved Tron Legacy and I still listen through the OST sometimes. It's the perfect midnight movie when you just want to feel the vibes. I got a really good feeling from the trailer despite not liking that lead actor, he's a bit cringe. Hopefully it also goes all in on the atmosphere

No Olivia Wilde is a tragedy.
She was perfect in that role. Her gorgeous eyes, man. 😌

What's the word on this film? September totally slipped past me and now this flick is coming out and I haven't bought tickets. Seems like it is still under a review embargo, which is RARELY a good thing unless there is some big plot twist they are trying to hide. Might wait a week if it stays in imax for a bit.

How many movies have there been now?

I loved the first one as a kid. I watched another in maybe the early 2000's?? But couldn't get into it. Don't remember anything other than it failed to grab my attention and I switched off.

Been listening to the NIN soundtrack for a week or so, and it's honestly great. Not as good as daft punk, but it's still fantastic.

Even if the movie sucks, we got a dank NIN album out of this.

That Daft Punk sound track is complete bliss, so good and have had it on my phone for years. I just re-watched Legacy. I was rather hard on it years ago and thought it was just okay. It's actually a really good movie especially compared to a lot of shit out there now.

Sound track just improves the movie in every way. The NIN return to form? is pretty good too.

Zeus/Castor was amazing really good performance.

They have these awesome ads set up here on the electrical junction boxes

I haven't listened to the NIN stuff yet, but if you're a fan of Daft Punk's Legacy soundtrack make sure you check out TRON Legacy: Reconfigured, it's a remix of the film soundtrack with some great tracks.

Going to see this on Friday. I have not been to the movies in months. Before that, years.
My Friend is dragging me out for this one, but I do think the visuals are quite stunning and I want to see where, Trent goes with the soundtrack.

I hope to take my kids to see this soon-ish. Since Disney isn't releasing 3D on disc anymore, I want to try and see it that way. I really enjoy Legacy in 3D.
