A 2005 Ford Ranger XLT Supercab, 2x4 V6 3.0, fully-loaded w/ bedliner?

(answering "I wouldn't, trucks and/or Ford sucks" will net you a free pass to riceboys.com courtesy of my foot and your ass)

15 grandish? I dunno. Keep in mind I'm drunk and am slowly phasing money out of my day to day existence as I embrace Marxism and bartering more and more.

14-15k is actually about right. You could probably haggle for less, though. :p

Ummm...invoice price on a 2005 Ford Ranger 2dr SuperCab XLT Rwd Styleside SB (3.0L 6cyl 5M) is $16,656 according to Edmunds.

Or am I looking up the wrong model?

...or...

You could buy one that's a couple of years old, for wayyyy cheaper, because Rangers have some crazy depreciation. Even moreso than Cadillacs! :(

Why don't Rangers hold their value?

because they are fords and most ford that aren't mustangs drop in value super fast... Sadly enough Toyota trucks hold their value... it is so backwards! :lol

That's weird cause intellichoice has the Ranger for 2004 and 2005 listed among the top ten in have the lowest depreciation.

Why don't Rangers hold their value?

Because they haven't changed significantly since the mid-'90s; compared with comparable modern trucks they're small and gutless; a significant number of them go to fleet buyers (resale values drop sharply if there are tons of lightly used '03s and '04s on the market); and like all American cars, the chances are all too good that you'll have to replace some cheaply designed and executed part at extortionist prices. If you don't believe it, you should; I regularly see late-model Ford Rangers and F-150s on the side of the road with hoods up, usually with broken belts.

If you absolutely must have a Ranger, then a) I feel sorry for you, and b) you should buy one of the many used '03s or '04s and aim to pay less than $9K. Better still would be to buy an '01 or '02 Toyota Tacoma which would cost a little more (although if you see a dealer charging $20K or more, walk away.. it should be close to $10K). This would be a much better investment.

Edmunds.com says:

http://www.edmunds.com/new/2005/for...id=edmunds.n.mipmake.pricetable.num12.1.ford*

There is a $1000 incentive for their rides right now. Fully spec'ed out, the Ranger would be around 23k, before TTTL. You can negotiate that, I'm sure. That is the range where they would begin negotiation.
