I like new moons because it makes for great stargazing

full moons are also cool. I like to hike in the desert under the light of full moons. if you have a UV light you can find tons of scorpions.

I do. I go out in my backyard every night with the dog before bed and look up at the sky. I'm in a suburb, so the light pollution is bad, but I still get inspired.

Not really.

I did see the Great North American Eclipse in 2024, so that was cool.

Yep, always. I live in the country where star gazing is easy and unobstructed. Often it's the last thing to look at before falling asleep. I do miss having a telescope to watch the sky though.

I love the moon, I want go get a good telescope some day and buy a cabin at a place where there isn't much light pollution.

Also, I wish my country had deserts. Those look cool in American movies.

Not as a general rule, but sometimes it does catch my eye. I live not far from a designated dark sky area, always kind of wanted to go but never actually got around to it. I'm dealing with some stuff at the moment but when it's sorted maybe I'll put the effort in.

Yeah, I've got a moon tracker on my phone and usually try to go out either on the nights around the new moon, or on the night of the new moon to try and get some milky way photos. Unfortunately it's been too cloudy the last couple of times I've wanted to go out.

How can I not marvel at the majestic beauty of the moon? Its gaze is inescapable.

The sky and the cosmos are one.

Used to be very useful to have a full or close to full moon to go walking in the forest at night, but rarely in these recent years do I pay it much mind.

Yep but not just the moon, stars and planets too. The smudge that is Andromeda, Jupiter and Orion (more specifically the Pleiades) are my goto things to look for.

Yes, sir. I have a deck build in the peak off my roof, that my granddaughter and I sit every night and watch the the sky's at night, talking about life and her day.

Started night sky watching my first deployment to Al Anbar in Iraq. In a fighting whole you usually lay on your back, so you can see in coming and tell if a grenade, or any other throwable object lands in your hole and you can plug in your secondary tube you dug out.

Spent years staring at the heavens outside of CONUS, thinking of my family and folks back here in the states. No matter if I was in Iraq, Afghanistan, or the Horn of Africa, it brings everyone together looking at the same sky's wondering if they are looking at the same star or at the moon when you are.

Absolutely love it and probably always will till I go loudly into that starry goodnight. I'm pretty damn stoked there are others that enjoy such a wonderful activity.
