President Donald Trump has signed an executive order that will roll back restrictions on oil drilling in the Arctic.

Trump says at a White House signing ceremony, "Today, we're unleashing American energy and clearing the way for thousands and thousands of high-paying energy jobs."

The order also directs his energy secretary to review regulations overseeing drilling and former President Barack Obama's five-year drilling plan.

It's Trump's latest move to undo his predecessor's environmental protection efforts in his first 100 days in office.

Trump's mission of canceling out pretty much anything Obama did continues. It should be expected that if something was passed by Obama, Trump will get around to canceling it out. If Trump could he would erase people's memories that Obama was ever president.
I honestly think that is mostly what drives him. Not what the policy is about, just that if Obama supported it, it needs to go.

This does not actually do anything, like most of his EO's. It's an order to "review" regulations, basically a photo op.

Read that, he's not actually undoing anything for the most part. Most of Obama's signature moves can't be undone with the stroke of a pen. The Clean Power Act for example for example is still in place, Trump just can't get rid of it. Not without following the same process Obama did to institute it. Trump is basically signing these orders for show, a few of the like H1B order might have real impact however.

The problem isn't restricting offshore drilling. The problem is OPEC & America fixing prices to be low to fuck over Russia. If he really wants the industry to do well, he'll work on getting oil prices to go up. Not that he'll do that, because he's not a madman.

Incorrect. This executive order actually does roll back restrictions on oil drilling in certain areas while also ordering a review of other areas to allow drilling.
