Trump v. Bernie Debate

The Democratic primary started off civilly enough, but when Bernie began to win some states (not enough!), he shifted from being a one issue candidate into someone who felt like he had a very good chance of bending the rules for a win. For the last few months his attacks have been more pointed, and some of his supporters have behaved badly, with harassment and threats. Since he has refused to drop out (he still has money), Hillary Clinton hasn't been able to start her general election campaign, and it's made her supporters mad with rage online.

As an aside, once the convention is over you'll see the party come together, I think. Sanders supporters might not like her now but, running against Trump, she will seem far more palatable.

Bel

Where are these 'Attacks'? Asking Hilary to release the transcripts to her speaking engagements with Wall Street? That a legit question: (The bolded portion is false. If it is more convenient, I will erase it, at request.) *Why is an acting US senator giving private speeches to Wall Street*, and refusing to release that transcript? What was she telling them, with her extensive knowledge of the inner workings of the government, that she can't release to the public?

She asked Sanders to release his tax returns, he did so the same night/next day. But, I guess the winners write the rules.

He released a partial return of a single year. She has released full returns spanning many years. The transcript is already a double standard to begin with but the equivalent to Sanders "release" would be to release a couple paragraphs of one speech.

On this issue, you are lacking critical information.

I wasnt aware she spoke when she was an active senator. Do you have a citation for that. I tired googling. As far as i know, she only spoke while not in any office.

Just Trump v Bernie or GTFO

We don't need no-names, has-beens, and nonfactors mudrying the waters

So then why's Bernie in the debate?

Pretty sure it wasn't. Far as I know the speeches were after her time at State.

However, this does show that she at the very least recognizes the problems facing African American citizens. Whether that translates into her policy, I don't know, but its a start.
It won't. She'll pay it a little lip service and nothing will change. Best believe she'll be back in the hood next time she needs some votes though.

She's got that hot sauce tho

Is it working?

How is this still a snarky joke from people who think they're being clever when there are newspaper clipping from the 90s showing she's been doing this for years. That's just an embarrassing disregard for reality to fortify the image of Clinton that only exists in your mind.

"People are going to say she's pandering to black people."

"Is it working?"

I don't know about always carrying hot sauce but that response definitely didn't help.

Pandering?

Hahaha j/k ;P

And Hillary's not very good at joking.

Honestly. Whenever she tries to be funny (impersonating Trump) it just doesn't work out. Obama's takedowns of Trump on the other hand are hilarious.

Wait, hold on a sec.

*grabs car keys*

Give me five minutes to drive to the goalpost?

There's been a definite shift in the Sanders campaign from early in the race to the last few months. It's been much more vitriolic. You don't see it?

The way she eats crackers is really annoying too. Wouldn't you agree?

Would you call Hillary Clinton's public demeanor warm and personable? There is something to what you are saying, but the narrative is that she's not very charismatic. I think she's had some good moments (debate question answer about the email was great) but that narrative is generally something I'd agree with.

Who gives a shit? Let the clown cars that are Bernie and Trump have their little demolition derby. Those two shit bags deserve one another and I'm sure there's a ton of entitled white men just eager as fuck to watch two old white dudes bitch about a woman far their intellectual superior.

The irony of Trump wanting this to be a women's rights charity is great, since this debate would basically amount to two spoiled little brats picking on the smartest girl in school for making them look bad on homework assignments.

Glad I wasn't the only one who saw the funny irony in Trump demanding it all go towards women's health charity, LOL. Let's get together for an unprecedented debate that will bash the first and only female candidate for President, but then give all the proceeds to a woman's charity -- it's like a sketch comedy. The fact that Bernie is enabling this clown show is terrible.

If people tell lies about someone and make false accusations it's not that someone's fault just because they're not charismatic enough.

People are literally attacking her for liking hot sauce for fucks sake.

I know the Clinton camp likes to white knight her at every opportunity here but Hillary's really only got herself to blame for how awkward that joke about pandering was and how people took it.

Doesn't change the hot sauce thing and that people's first response was "She's just pandering for votes that LYING BITCH" even though you can literally pull up articles from the early 90s saying the same thing.

Just admit your snark was stupid and move on.

I bet Obama making jokes about his birth certificate is pretty awful too?

People make hilariously unreasonable accusation at Clinton -> she makes an off-the-cuff joke that's kind of funny -> "Wow, she isn't even good at telling jokes! How can she expect to earn my vote if she can't even deliver a punchline?!"

Seriously, I didn't even know anyone cared that she said that, and I don't know why they would.

The hot sauce bit was awkward and came off pandering, probably because Hillary has a history of pandering. I give her the benefit of the doubt here, and it's actually charming, because I'm a fellow spice lover, but in general Hillary isn't winning awards for her public presentation. Let's be real. She's not a charismatic candidate like Obama or Bill, or even Dubya.

Technically he hasn't yet. And Hills on a down slide.
Don't let them know that though, personally I'm fine with all these Hillary campers telling people they don't even need to bother voting in California and the remaining states.

This. Trump easily beats her regarding charisma.

Technically he hasn't yet. And Hills on a down slide.

A downside that hasn't been helped by Bernie attacking her and driving a wedge between him and his supporters and the rest of the Democratic party. Especially when the Republican party has had a monthish with Trump as the guy and all focused on tearing down Clinton (with Trump also pandering to Bernie and his supporters, something that will surely happen if this farce occurs).

Technically he hasn't yet. And Hills on a down slide.

Technically, Jill Stein and Gary Johnson haven't lost yet either. He's clearly lost and would have dropped out ages ago if his army of supporters didn't keep pumping money into his campaign to keep it afloat.

They can vote all they want, just like Republicans can still vote for Ted Cruz. Doesn't change the math of the situation.

Stupid analogy. Ted Cruz was completely and factually (actually factually this time) mathematically eliminated long ago.

I'd be really happy if every one voting for Clinton had your confidence, though.

When you have to make the other candidate nonviable in California or win 70% of the vote in all the remaining contests, you're knocking on the door of mathematical elimination. The analogy is more right than it is wrong.

Yes, it is unlikely, but still not like Ted Cruz's situation at all, especially with super delegates which even the pro-Hillary commentators on CNN think could switch to Hillary with the IG report and a California win.

This post by Bernie on Facebook is great:

We all agree that Trump would be a disaster for this country, and I look forward to asking him why he favors more tax breaks for the rich, why he opposes raising the minimum wage, why he thinks climate change is a hoax, and why he thinks it is okay to insult millions of Muslims and Mexicans.

He is going to debate Trump on the real issues and absolutely not be focusing on Clinton. Since he's not the nominee, he doesn't even have to move further to the centre debating Trump. Hillary's supporters here need to realize this does a lot more good than harm for her for the general election.

Why do you have to "give her the benefit of the doubt" when it's just true?

"Oh well she's awkward anyway" is not an excuse.

Is it more like the Cruz situation than not? That's all you need to ask yourself.

I'm sorry, anyone trying to knock her for something as fucking innocuous as this and then defend it because "well she's awkward anyway" is acting like a moron, full stop. There's not a fucking conspiracy behind everything, Jesus Christ.

I hadn't seen that, thanks for the link. Hot sauce is a necessity, so good on her.

Pandering isn't the same thing is a conspiracy, calm down. All politicians pander. That's fine. It's ok to acknowledge groups of people, or their culture. That's a non-issue and separate from discussion of Hillary's public presentation.

If you genuinely think this you're a lost cause.

I've known too many people just like Trump to give him a single point for "charisma."

Taking such a nothing statement like "I always carry a bottle of hot sauce in my purse" and instantly assuming dishonesty is borderline conspiratorial. It's ridiculous. No other politician receives this level of scrutiny from so many people.

Oh but she's awkward so it's ok.

If you genuinely think this you're a lost cause.

You're deluded if you can't see it. The level of Hillary fanaticism here is genuinely astounding to me. Pretty much anyone can see Trump easily has way more charisma.

Is it more like the Cruz situation than not? That's all you need to ask yourself.
Than what? Seeing as how Cruz couldn't win with even 100% of the remaining delegates (about 150%?) I'm leaning towards "not".

I guess if you find a frat boy going around telling everyone how high he is and bragging about how many women he's had sex with charismatic. That's all Trump is.

He's a small, pathetic man with no genuine accomplishments to his name, so he tells everyone how great he is in the hopes that people will believe it.

If he's so charismatic why are his favorable ratings even lower than Clinton's?

Dude, if I was a Sanders voter on the fence between Hillary and Trump I'd hope most Clinton supporters wouldn't have your attitude because it would be absolutely off-putting.

Just the fact that Trump has no real accomplishments, no political history, lack of policy, and flip-flopping on issues but has made it this far should tell you something about his charisma.

You can argue that Hillary is the better candidate while still acknowledging the strengths and weaknesses of both, or you can live in a bubble.
