I'm trying to figure out how I can get into a class that's already at maximum capacity. I emailed the prof, but he said I was something like 15th in line.

I'm thinking of going to class the first day and announcing that I'll pay someone $20 if they'll switch to a class taught by a different professor. Anyone ever tried anything like this?

Definitely show up the first day, and even before that just keep checking if anyone drops out. But show up, show that interest and effort and the prof might be lenient anyhow. Depends completely on the individual professor though. I'm not sure if paying someone $20 would really convince them to change their schedule though...
