Trying to play other games after TLoU

I tried a bunch of new games this weekend but they all seemed stale and boring. Can anyone recommend a game like TLoU that will grip me and make me play for hours on end?

I've really missed that feeling and I had it for the past 2 weeks. :(

PS: The games I tried were Spec Ops: The Line, Max Payne 3, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 and The Walking Dead. They are all decent but I'm just not enthralled lol

I also have Uncharted 2 and 3 to play but I'm wary of playing them so soon after a newer ND game and being let down. :

I don't think you'd be let down by Uncharted 2. It has similar gameplay from what I remember, but more crazy action sequences.

how about max payne 2? now that's a fucking fantastic third person shooter.

it holds up incredibly well and is, like... what, five bucks these days?

This has happened to me after Bioshock Infinite and The Last of Us both. I can't find anything interesting to play in my backlog after playing those two games. :( It's frustrating because I really do want to start something new, but... I dunno.

I've gone back to playing old point and click adventure games.

Currently replaying The Longest Journey.

I'm in the mood for games with a strong story focus.

Try to not let it distract you. I'm able to play Okami just fine after finishing TLoU even though I'm dying to replay it (I let a friend borrow it)

Hahaha, really? Come on. It's an incredible game, not a life-ruining experience.

I finished Resident Evil Revelations yesterday and I throroughly enjoyed it. Not every game has to be a life-changing event.

In 2005 I played Beyond Good and Evil, Oddworld Stranger and MGS3 back to back.

That was very difficult to find something to play afterwards. In hindsight, I should have played different genres in between.

I don't think Uncharted 2 would let you down. Its tone is so different than TLOU so comparisons shouldn't be so easy (storywise at least). If you play it just relax and enjoy it. Don't be too tough of a critic.

Animal Crossing.

For entirely different reasons.

For some reason, TLOU + Animal Crossing = video game bliss. They just complement each other so well.

rofl just wait a day or so and there's no need for this thread

how ridiculous

No, I agree. Life after TLOU is hard. My expectations for pacing and fun gameplay are on high alert right now.

And yeah, you could also just play the game again. I'm on my fourth playthrough.

Metal Gear Solid series maybe?

I also recommend Ico and RE4 - two games in particular that ND said influenced TLOU.

Hmm.. I had this exact same feeling after I play To The Moon.
Maybe I should start looking into Last of Us...

Metro: Last Light

And I had a hard time playing Tlou for the first few hours, game was just average. Just clicked with me halfway through but then it was an amazing experience.

I feel the same way. I don't really care for other games besides TLOU. I just started playing Hotline Miami though and it's nice. Other games pale in comparison.

I went back to replaying Super Mario Sunshine directly after beating TLoU. Currently going through Super Mario 3D Land.

Try a different genre or just go in a different direction like others have suggested.

It's a case where no game quite scratches the itch TLoU does. The worst part is when you get near the end and you realize you're on the final stretch. :(
