Erdogan moving that bit closer to restoring the Ottoman Empire.

Can we now please end EU accession talks?

What's even more depressing is the amount of support Erdogan has. The Turkish citizens are literally digging themselves down to "hell".

Not much we can really do as outsiders :/ RIP Turkey. Welcome in your future of insane human rights abuses, Sharia law and become a brother of some of the rest of the worlds worst countries/governments.

Time to start investigating which politicians enjoy the much too young ones. No way you go home to your spouse and be like "we annulled a terrible law today. Our country is better for it don't you think honey?"

I don't......I don't even know what to say. Fuck all of this. I'm out. Anyone who tries to justify Erdogan or how Turkey is like right now can just fuck right off along with the annulment of this law. Christ.

"Hey guys, what about theocracy and fascism? I really think we should try it again. I'm sure it'll work out this time."

Why do these pieces of shit never learn, you're just going to go down in history as yet another insane dictator who ruined his country and made millions suffer.
Hope it's worth it you narcissistic prick. The world would be better off with you dead. Go ahead and sue me.

Technically 12-15 isn't pedophile range, there's a different word for it.

Messed up regardless. How the hell did they think this was a good idea?

It is still legally defined as pedophilia. I studied almost 5 years of criminology and psychology a few years back never even hearing the other word for it until I read it here or on Reddit trying to say there is a difference saying because they are not infants or young children but older tweens it shouldn't be called Pedophilia but something else. Don't even remember the word for it. Most people call it pedophilia if you are an adult and sexually attracted to people 12-15.

Even tho the punishment should be more severe when it's about children, if someone was caught raping a child he still can be punished for rape right? As if he raped anybody older than 15?

Given their trajectory I expect them to annul the rape laws next.

Fucking disgusting. I can't even imagine what kind of monster you have to be to actively work for something like this.

The report somehow contradicts the needed age of marriages in turkey, which is still 18. I guess the article is pretty biased, because I know that turkey (judges and government atleast) is extremely hard against "child" abusers.
Furthermore, the report was already published a month ago. We would certainly heard a way bigger shitstorm if the reform would be really against the protection of minors.

We should wait for another source to have some context, Hurriyet is close to CHP.
I don't remember seeing such a shitstorm when France canceled the law against sex abuse in work, canceling the case of thousand of women. That was because the relatively new law was not working so well and many sex offender remained free. So before going rampage against Turkey the pedophile country, it would be better to search for some explanation in more than one article.

EDIT: there you go, "Zero tolerance for child abuse, Turkish family minister says".
Apparently, they are looking to make a new law against child violation who will entail harder sanction.

is that site reputable ? i cant seem to find any other usual site reporting it. just weird looking ones filled with ads

It's the official website of one of the largest newspapers in Turkey.

Yeah, journalism in Turkey is that bad. Well, happens when you jail all the legitimate journalists I guess.

Feels absolutely fucking disguisting to be sharing the same earth, let alone the same country, with these vile assholes.

edit: Hürriyet Daily News is the English version of a reputable Turkish newspaper, Hürriyet.

I read this and still have trouble understanding what the ambassador wants an apology for.

Is he denying the changed law?

He seems to be saying that "No, it is not true, stop saying false stuff."

Sweden is most likely gonna answer with a "Fuck Off", I know my personal experience of people around me have been that people were sorta pro-Turkey when the coup happened (cause, most don't like the idea of military coups, understandable) and then it just did a total 180 once Erdogan started go crazy dictator.

Apparently they've never annulled this law to begin with. The "annul" was in fact a proposition to change a certain paragraph that they deemed unconstitutional. The Turkish constitutional court made a statement about this, saying the law is still very active and they say they're convinced the facts weren't presented factually on purpose. Sexual abuse of minors is still 8 to 13 years, penetration is a minimum of 16 years, and stalking is 3 to 8 years. Seems much more strict than, for example, here in the Netherlands, which I always considered as the paedophile heaven. It's... weird that the initial "annuls" had tons of media coverage, but the statement is getting very little attention.

Thread title should be changed.

Rest

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.
I can see some logic in the reasons stated, but to just throw out the law instead of making reasonable amendments? What the hell are they thinking.
Edit: Nevermind, read the posts on this page.
What kind of bullshit hoax is that?

Sadly the original source came from one of the Turkey newspapers of the turkish opposition.
Some of those newspapers (like in many countries) would make The Sun and other british tabloid seem like the peak of intellectual refinement and moderation.
