The fact is this lawsuit already had the intended effect: many journalists and even people in general will be careful when criticizing Turkey or Erdogan out of fear of dealing with a lawsuit. That's the very reason this guy is getting sued. So the self-censorship is already being applied.

Huh?
It seems to have had the opposite effect. The fact is this lawsuit already had the intended effect: many journalists and even people in general will be careful when criticizing Turkey or Erdogan out of fear of dealing with a lawsuit. Because this shouldn't even have went this far. I understand that there is a law on the books that makes this type of thing "illegal" but even if in a year the courts throw it out, it's still appeasing Erdogan for the simple fact that it even considered it.How so? Say Erdogan loses in a year and all that time Erdogan is in the press for being a fool. How is that a win for Erdogan? He is being attacked left and right, even US comedy shows now have him on their radar and make (more) fun of him. If anything, this shows that Erdogan is a fool.
Rad.It has been fully recited in the German parliament now:

Ahh, those Germans, so obsessed with their sausages.Next lawsuit incoming?
Cover of a satire magazine in Germany: "Erdogan stressed: Now even his penis stages a coup!"
Translation of headlines: "Dozens of dead after attack in Afghanistan" "Many dead after train accident in Moscow" "Germans paid too much for sausage"Ahh, those Germans, so obsessed with their sausages.
AFAIW in Germany the judiciary is not fully independent from the executive branch: http://home.broadpark.no/~wkeim/files/separation_of_powers.htm
and the Chancellor is kind of both in the executive and legislative branch?
Next lawsuit incoming?

They should be used to it. Didn't the Vatican sue them a few years ago?

In a turn of events, Erdogan now criticisms Germany for a lack of freedom of expression lol
Titanic. Never seen a magazine that varies that much in quality. Sometimes they are just amazing. Sometimes they are just utter garbage.
It seems they don't give a fuck. They keep pulling those jokes out of their asses until that one gold nugget comes out.
And man, some of their covers are made for eternity
Yupp, I mean... This is a classic:
The erdogan cover seems to be a cheap bait.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he was inspired by the feelings of unity in the wake of the recent failed coup.
Mr Erdogan said at the presidential palace: "I am going to withdraw all the cases regarding the disrespectful insults made against me."
He said it was a one-off gesture of goodwill.
Maybe he finally...Turkey's Erdogan to drop lawsuits against people who insulted him

On topic, this doesn't apply to this particular case, lawsuits outside of Turkey will remain active. Still, that's a whopping 800 or so court cases, not bad. Gotta lighten the load on those handful of remaining judges, huh.Turkey's Erdogan to drop lawsuits against people who insulted him
By saying this you're only making yourself look like a bigger fool if that's even possible. He said it was a one-off gesture of goodwill.
The prosecution announced that the case will not go to court. They said that a president acting like Erdogan needs to cope with such satire. The prosecution says it is very evident that the comments are not meant serious at all.
There's still a lawsuit going on where Erdogan tries to ban further publishing of the poem.
