The pace picks up considerably towards the end of the season. They spend a lot of time world building and developing characters on the front end. It looks like it'll pay off even more in S2 (judging on how it's set up and the teaser trailer), but if you're not enjoying it at all there's not too much of a reason to keep watching.thekad said:Stopped watching Boardwalk Empire around episode 5. Does it get any better?

The dude who plays Smash does a fucking great job. This season is killer already. Buddy is a dick.
brucewaynegretzky said:Ok I'm watching Twin Peaks. On episode 3. Seriously what is so great about this show? Every character is a over exaggerated stereotype and everyone is overacting.
beelzebozo said:i didn't get it either.
brucewaynegretzky said:I just feel like its trying really hard to be "deep" but is just being cheesy in the process. Solving crimes by dream? I think I may have just been expecting a real crime drama.
No i think thats the interpretation everyone has. I thought the same thing. Trick to the show is that it is not to be taken seriously. Its pretty evident they were trying to be comedic.brucewaynegretzky said:Ok I'm watching Twin Peaks. On episode 3. Seriously what is so great about this show? Lord forgive me. I want to do filthy, filthy things to Janine Turner.
It doesn't matter that she's old. It doesn't matter that she's incredibly right wing and incalculably stupid. Nor even that she is more botox than flesh.

Ate up Eastbound and Down. Wish there was more of it watch. Hilarious.
Also watching Louie right now. Looking forward to starting The Shield asap to see how it compares to The Wire.

He seems like the perfect amount of dick for a partner at the firm...if that is what he is. I would have that hair in an instant, no question. That mole on his forehead just screams authority.Rage Kage said:I saw an episode of The Suits yesterday. Good humor, but I feel like it was totally unrealistic. Harvey is a dick but not a super dick.

If not, assuming you purchased them somehow and aren't streaming them/doing it another way, what do you do with the dvds/blurays?
Do you keep them in your collection or sell them after?
The only show I own right now is Lost, and that's because I want to go through it again in a few years. I've sold off my Sopranos dvds, Wire dvd, Breaking Bad, and Fringe blurays. I'm the type of person who watches something once and is done with it. With a few exceptions like my top 10 favorite movies.

beelzebozo said:i had far less luck enjoying THE SHIELD than i did THE WIRE. SHIELD felt very much like that edginess was being forced. i have heard it's a wonderful show if you can get into it, but i have been incapable of doing so thus far.

A lot of the cases I didn't find all that interesting and there are only a few early on I really enjoyed. So is this just one of the weaker seasons or is it just me?
