I was looking through the 52 games thread and wondered how the hell people do it haha, this is much more my speed.

Kicking off with Dead Space Remake, just finished chapter 8 at ~8 hours in so will tick that off soon. Having a lot of fun with it.

Then the plan will probably play out a little like this, bar anything new popping into my library and demanding attention. In no particular order:
RE 2 + 3 + 4 remakes
Cyberpunk 2077 (2nd playthrough, first with PL)
Immortals Fenyx Rising

Spiderman Remastered + Miles
Persona 5 Royal
Gotham Knights (got it cheap and gotta try it for myself, may get abandoned)
Destroy all Humans 2 Reprobed
Callisto Protocol
Alan Wake 2

Would be pretty happy to get through that as a starting point.

January - Dead Space Remake PC 17 hours - 4/5, Resident Evil 2 Remake 16 hours - 3/5
February - Cyberpunk 2077 + PL 70 Hours - 4.8/5
March
April
May
June
July
August
September
October
November
December

Does beating a game without the true ending count? I just beat DQ11 and after the credits you can still continue to get the true ending.

I was running a little behind, but I finally wrapped up my January game, Mario Wonder. It was better than I expected. The wonder flowers and purple ten flower coins give you incentive to go through the levels again. There were probably about 7 levels that provided a good challenge. It's cool that you can switch between characters. Although I spent the majority of the time as Mario.

Just started Ducktales Remastered for my February game. Something I always intended to play, but never got around to it.

Thought this sounded interesting and I wanted to give it a shot. My game completion percentage per year has been way down.
  • Pokémon Scarlet
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Suicide Squad:KTJL
  • Baldur’s Gate 3
Finished Baldur’s Gate 3. Was quite the ride.
If I get Rebirth and Dragon’s Dogma 2 then I will be halfway there!

Ticked Dead Space Remake and Resident Evil 2 remake off for January. Dead Space was an absolute masterpiece that I highly recommend. RE2 was good and I can see where it earned its praise for the most part but I never really settled into it, I've heard 4 is a completely different style of game so hopefully I will enjoy that more.

On to my 2nd Cyberpunk play through (first with pl dlc) for Feb, currently 12 hours in. Will probably bleed well into March, *just one more gig*

*UPDATE 3*
Finished the Diablo IV campaign, which wasn't on my original list because I was pretty much done with the game before that big update and a buddy re-introduced me and gave a little jump start. Really enjoyed the playthrough

*UPDATE 2*
Finished Uncharted: Drake's Fortune on PS5. It wasn't on my original list but my wife loves to watch me play that game and it's too much shooting for herself when she plays. But she likes the settings, areas and graphics and the whole adventure, exploration vibes.

*UPDATE 1*
Finished Max Payne 2. It must have been like the fitth or sixth time. The gameplay is smoother and more refined than in Max Payne 1, but I think I like the overall style and direction of the first one better, although it has some bullshit levels and enemy spawns in the very late game that doesn't happen in Max Payne 2. I hope they fix that in the remake.

*RESERVED*

Cool idea! No way in hell I'd manage to finish 52 games, even small indie one, in a year. Last year I think I've finished 10.

What I've planned so far for this year:
  • Diablo IV - DONE
  • SKALD: Against the Black Priory
  • Wasteland 3
  • Baldur's Gate 3
  • Resident Evil 4 Remake
  • Tomb Raider 1 - 3 Remastered
  • Max Payne 2 - DONE
  • The Outer Worlds
  • Fallout New Vegas
  • System Shock
  • The Last of Us 2 Remastered
  • Alan Wake 2
  • Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
  • Cultic
  • Blood West (I releasied too late it's a stealth shooter and it feels very janky, especially when monster attack with melee there is a weird hitbox and it's badly telegraphed. I don't think I will continue playing this.)
  • KotR 2
  • Planescape Torment Enhanced Edition
  • The Case of the Golden Idol
  • Roots of Pacha
  • Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores (Expansion)

Realistically, I will only manage half of that list because Wasteland 3 and BG3 is taking soooo much time (although I'm already in act three in BG3), and I'll be playing Wasteland 3 only once a week in online co-op with my brother, so this is going to take a while, too. On the other hand, games like Max Payne and Alan Wake should be rather quick, and with RE4 I'm already in chapter 13.

That's a reasonable target so I'm in.

(2023 November? Starfield, December GOW Ragnarok)- Proof that I have what it takes:)

2024
January- Lies Of P-- One of the best soulslike games--9/10
February- Dead Space remake completed. It was better than I expected--9/10
March- Zelda Ocarina of Time--It was magical, straight to the point, no bs, and it has great music-- 10/10
-------- Undertale--It was an ok teenager game--7/10.
April-- Venba--It was short but good. Last part could be longer though, felt rushed-- 8/10.
-------- (SMT 5--Still playing it, probably going to be a May candidate---------09/2024 dropped it long ago)

May-Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice- Best walking sim-with enjoyable combat?
June-July-Shadow of the erdtree- hardest souls ever?
August-Alan Wake 2- one of the greatest survival horror games
-------- Monster Hunter Rise: I saw the credits but this game never ends lol.
September-- Silent Hill 2: EE--- a legend that can evoke fear and sadness together
December- Shovel Knight-- It was great but a little bit annoying sometimes. Platforming is much harder than bosses. Some levels are not that cool. But overall it was an enjoyable sweet little game.

This is awesome and right up my alley. Getting back to some consistent casual gaming after a long unintended hiatus. Reserving this spot!

January - Final Fantasy 15 (XSX)
Initial Inpressions - Just got started and it’s different. Combat takes some time getting used to but switching from the default active to wait mode helps.

Decided to do another playthrough of NSMB 2(3DS) alongside Ducktales Remasted in February. I just can't get enough Mario, it seems.

Beaten a few more games this year, like Onimusha Warlords (PS2), RE4 (GC) and RE4R (PC), but I'd say those posted above have been the "major" ones.

Specifically for RPG players, this thread is better suited than the 52 game thread.
Absolutely. So far I have tackled Evolution (but it's relatively short) and Octopath II, but I plan to play Unicorn Overlord, Fire Emblem Engage, and Shiren the Wander 6 sometime this year as well. This thread feels much more doable especially since I still play a good bit of Splatoon 3 MP all the time lol.

Completed main campaign in co-op and side missions. 905/1000 gamerscore.

Game #8
Diablo IV
Completed. 1000/1000 gamerscore. Still will participate in seasons but I consider it completed, will come back for a month to do each new season

Game #9
Star Wars: Jedi Survivor
Completed main campaign. Didn't really feel the game was gripping enough to do the side missions/collectibles etc

I’ve hit a little bit of a wall.

7 down.

ALttP, Minish Cap, Hollow Knight, Divinity II Original Sin and Portal 2 are the remaining 5 games I’m going to play but I need a little breather I think.

I’m only using a Switch at the moment, and it’s been great overall, however I’m missing the none-Nintendo multiplayer games to fill my time outside of single player games. Gears 5, eFootball etc.

Just finished this night at roughly 3am. I didn't expect the story to be that much engaging towards the end that I simply couldn't drop it. Great cinematics, voice actors, atmosphere. Once I've got used the skill system and tweaked my Rogue I was having a blast slashing through all those monsters. The levels look fucking amazing. I'm not sure how much longer the endgame content will keep me busy, but I think my priority will now shift towards other games on my list.

Baldur’s Gate 3

Dragon’s Dogma

Dragons Dogma 2 Final Mix
Damn, those are pretty huuuge games. I guess I'd almost need a year for those three games alone.

This is what I came up with for my new year's resolution. Stumbled on this thread just today. I set a goal of beating atleast 12 games this year with atleast 1 on each of the systems I have active(PS5, PS4, PSVita, X360 & Switch)
Jan-
1.DMC5(PS5)
Feb-
2.Red dead redemption (NX)
3.Bayonetta(NX)
Mar-
4. Steam World Quest(NX)
5. Bayonetta 2(NX)
Apr-
6. Bayonetta 3(NX)
May-
7. Bastion(PSVita)
8. Hogwarts Legacy(PS4)
Jun-
9. Killzone Mercenaries (PSVita)
10. Mario Odyssey (NX)
July-
11. Metal Gear Rising(360)
Aug-
None
Sept-
12. Resident Evil Village (PS5)
13. Resident Evil Revelations (NX)
14. Zelda - Breath of the Wild (NX)

On my list are:
1. Tlou2
2. Gears of War(1-3)
3. Killzone Shadowfall
4. Resident evil revelations 2
5. Chrono Trigger
6. Doom and Doom Eternal

I am not focused on hitting the target as much as I am seeking games that are fun to play. Dropped a few games that were just not clicking.

All the best everyone & have fun playing games.

Edit(23rd sept): dropped gta4 on 360 after putting a lot of time in it

Fell behind a bit, but I just wrapped up on Dave the Diver. Just looked and I dropped 80hrs into it. It's one of the most addictive gameplay loops of any game I've ever played. Love it.

I'm playing a few games intermittently, but I think I'll stick with Spider-Man 2(PS5) for my next game.

Beat:
- GTA V
- God of War (2018)
- Little Nightmares II

Playing:
- Quantum Break

Yet to Play:
- Shadow of the Colossus
- Demons Souls Remake
- Gravity Rush 2

In limbo (started but didn't finish, and may need to start over):
- The Order 1866
- Final Fantasy VII Remake
- Bloodborne
- The Last Guardian

Lmao, I have made pretty much zero progress since I posted this 6+ months ago.

Didn't finish Quantum Break (it's a disjointed mess with the live action episodes), but did finish FFVII Remake finally.

Almost beat Doom Eternal, but then lost my save data on PC Game Pass.

4 games completed in one year is not great... But at least 3/4 are high profile games that I've been meaning to get around to, so that's something.

Added GTA V to my list and shared my thoughts.

10 down, 2 to go.

Got lots of options in terms of what to play but need a couple of weeks downtime first. Games like GTA are pretty exhausting, as fun as they are.

First one down!

Death Stranding: Directors Cut: 9/10
Total play time: 98hrs

2021-death-stranding-dn.jpg

I really really enjoyed my time with this, the beginning of the game drags on a lot and the UI is very convoluted at first glance, hence the docked points. However, there aren't many AAA games as unique at this, there's something really therapeutic about treking across a desolate america, most of the time completely alone, but not really. To be able to interact with the stuff other players have left in the world not for you specifically, but for their own travels, gives you a sense of community within your loneliness. I can't wait for DS2.
February:

2. Alan Wake 2
OIP.yPFA7HvbuGr4vrYfBuw5tAHaEK

Platform: PC
Play time: 30hrs
Rating: 8/10

I have a lot of mixed opinions about this game. I was really looking forward to a conclusion or continuation of Alan's saga after so many years, the visual presentation was awesome: I played at 4k60 maxed out on a 4080 with path tracing and the game looked phenomenal. Chapter 4 "We Sing" is one of my favorite moments in gaming as of late and I really appreciate what they tried to do here. However, for me the game has many problems that prevent me from ranking it higher, the gameplay for one is not much to write home about, to me this was disappointing because Remedy are known for good combat, here it is slow and doesn't feel that great, a complete 180 from Control, which I loved. The pacing suffers from the structure of the game of being able to swap characters around and play in whatever order you please. I found Saga's chapters boring and very long at times, the opening of the game for example takes about 2 hours or more before you get into combat for the first time. Saga as a whole to me feels like a net negative as a second protagonist, I was unable to relate with the character, I couldn't care less about her plight or personal journey and was only interested in the larger plot. Alan's sections have issues too, but here I actually was invested in his journey as a character. Some of the set pieces are legitimately great though I must admit and the soundtrack is 10/10.

I also want to say that locking out the true ending before a new game plus mode feels like a kick in the teeth as someone who has no interest in replaying games straight after finishing them, so I ended up just youtubing the differences and the true ending.

3. Les Mills Body Combat VR

OIP.uaGRpQgYVK3Ju9ABjsF1mAAAAA

Platform: PSVR2/Meta quest 2
Play time: 15 hrs
Rating 8/10

I ended up buying this game as a way to get some excercise in during the winter when I'm too lazy to drive to the gym and I was pleasantly surprised, this game will make you work up a sweat like no other and it can really be brutal at times, definitely recommend it if you want to work out at home. Hit detection sometimes doesn't register properly and that is a bit frustrating but not game breaking. The trainers can become cringe at times and the song variety is not the best but the game serves its main purpose and more.

4. Helldivers 2
helldivers2.jpg

Platform: PC/PS5
Play Time: 30 hours
Rating: 9/10

I am one of the few people who was looking forward to this game before release and was interested from the get go, a coop online adventure with starship troopers vibe? Count me in day 1. I am satisfied to say the game did not disappoint at all, I managed to convince my friends and wife to get it with me and it brought us endless hours of fun spreading democracy across the galaxy. The gunplay is satisfying and friendly fire is always a welcome addition in this type of games to add even more chaos to the madness. I docked it a point because of the server issues, but aside from that I really love it and recommend it. First battlepass I have bought in years.

5. Final Fantasy VII (Original)

wp8183218.jpg

Platform: PS Vita
Play time: 35 hours (with speed up mechanics)
Rating: 8.5/10

i will start by saying that this was not a replay, I actually had never played the original Final Fantasy VII, going in for the first time in 2023 (ive been playing it on and off since around october of last year) was a very interesting experience, first of all the game has not aged gracefully at all, it looks like shit and it can even be kinda confusing to make out stuff on the small Vita screen. Many of the controls and mechanics are very dated as well. However, I can appreciate that had I played this back then in the 90s I would have been blown away by how it's filled with content and how complex of a story it has specially for its time. I was captivated by the plot and it was the main reason I pushed through to the end and I don't regret it. I really wanted to finish this before tackling the remakes.

Forgot to add yesterday:

6. Warioworld

SI_GCN_WarioWorld_image1600w.jpg

Platform: Steam Deck (via Dolphin)
Play Time: 4 hours
Rating: 6/10

I was always curious about this game back then in the early 2000's but never really got around playing it when the gamecube was at its peak, so I decided to give it a go and see what it was about, I can't say I enjoyed my time a lot, the game has aged pretty poorly IMO and while it can play alright at times I didn't really find it fun or challenging. The "story" feels like a fever dream and it's actually not that complex at all. I was going to force myself to finish this but I'm actually just done with it as I wasn't really having fun, the one thing that was awesome was performing WWE style moves on enemies lol. I got to around 60-70% of the game is my guess.

Crossposting with the 52 games one.

7. Pokemon: Scarlet + DLC

71d2d64a-402e-4552-8fb6-8ab906bf3ddd.jpg

Platform: Nintendo Switch
Play time: 50 hours
Rating: 8/10

I didn't play this at launch due to all the bad reviews and memes about technical performance but my wife picked up Violet and got helplessly addicted, so I said fuck it I wanna share the experience with her and picked up Scarlet. I'm really glad I did as this is the most fun I have had in a pokemon game since maybe heart gold and soul silver. The game has a lot of problems, too much exposition, not really that hard but the story took some wild turns towards the end and I completed the Pokedex for the first time ever!. I really recommend it.

8. NBA2K24
8/10
play time: 400 hours

First NBA game ive ever played, I enjoyed it a ton to be honest, found a group of people to play an online league with and stayed away from the predatory bullshit

NBA2K25
8.5/10
play time: 20 hours

More of the same as with 2k24 but I like the gameplay better and I can win games now lol, still running the same league.

EAFC24
7/10
Playtime: 50 hours

I love football so cannot stay away, don't have much to say except it was pretty meh even tho there's fun to be had. Hoping 25 is better.

MLB The show 24
Xbox series X
Play time: 5 hours
7/10

First time playing a baseball game, unfortunately it didn't resonate with me at all so I dropped it.

Super Mario RPG
Nintendo Switch
8 hours
7/10

I really thought I would have liked this game more, but truth be told it was hard to get back to after dropping it for a bit, I'm going to push through and complete it but Paper Mario is far superior IMO.

I'll update with pics later and post more games, there are a few more.

Finished the main campaign on Astro Bot and ended with about 250 bots. Game was fantastic. Will definitely work on collecting all bots over the next few months.

Probably going to play the Starfield Shattered Space expansion next.
