2 months on, who finished Assassins Creed Shadows?

The seasons are cool in that they change up the visuals, but not being able to advance the season or time becomes tedious for sure.
Is there really no way to fast-forward time to a specific season and time of day? Even MGS5 had that, and that game is like 10 years old at this point...

None. It takes between one and two hours to move from one season to the next. You can't force it. Some of us talked about it in the OT....

I love the change of seasons as it changes up the world a bit, but then they went further and said "let's make it so some activities can only be done in Summer, etc." I'm done with the game. I have one trophy left to get platinum. I got Naoe standing in a safe house waiting for gotdang Autumn so she can take a picture of some fox at night.

Who thought this shit was a good idea?

Same problem here, except Naoe is waiting for Winter instead to kill some group of raiders. There's more stuff that is simply not working, for instance I'm pretty damn sure that they said you'd be able to use Kunai or Shuriken to destroy lanterns, another lightsource that you frequently see. It NEVER worked. Not in my game atleast.

Topher Topher just summoned me. Listen up here OP, if you feel like reading an insane man's thoughts about how godawful AC Shadows is, you can just take a look at my post in the OT:

It's bad. Some people have mentioned that it's atleast better than Valhalla but I can't agree on that front. It's bad even by Ubi standards. It delivers exactly 0 of anything that you'd want from an AC game outside the stealth and visual beauty. It's metastory is fucked beyond belief, it's soundtrack is puke inducing awful, it's story and characters suck and the gameplay doesn't even work half the time. The world is way too big and continues to be bland and static, its missions are as unmemorable as they can be and everything blends together after you've played for around 20 hours. It's all window dressing, there's nothing in it. An empty experience that drains your hours away because its fundamental gameplay loop is simple enough to keep you going when it works, but by the end of it all you'll wish you'd played something else instead. You can probably tell that I really dislike it. AC Shadows poisoned my water supply and kicked my dog.

I finished it in a month(Main story + alot of hours in my Hideout). Due to wanting to have a clean slate before Indiana Jones.
Love the game and plan to return. Im not some AC fanboy either since i havent loved or completed one since AC2 and came close with Origins.

Got the platinum in 75 hours. I really enjoyed the game, but there is a lot of copy and paste, and some head scratching systems are missing from previous games like the bounty hunters. It felt about half as long to 100% as Valhalla.

Dropped it and sold ps5 disc after 5h of gameplay. Way too repetative with similiar locations and enemies already early on. Also some cutscenes are so fucking poorly done

I didn't, but I almost never finish AssCreed. I play them for 50-100 hours, and stop when I get bored.

I played this for 90 hours, I got my moneys worth.

My god....

Reading some of these posts, the same Ubisoft bloat and predictability.

Why do you guys spend your money on this crap?

Because I can play it at my own pace. I like exploring and finding things on the map and not everything has to be yeah finished it in 2 hours what's next mentality.

Not every game is for every one man. I'm sure I could look at your game library and find stuff I wouldn't buy either.

You can force the seasons. On the map top right when the circle is half filled you can press the right button on the D-pad and it will go to next season.

You still have to wait some time though I admit.

First mainline AC I will be skipping. Got burned out with both Odyssey and Valhalla already, and Shadows just looks dreadfully boring, its mission structure and story especially.

To each their own but I liked the missions - yeah it's an Ass game but using scouts to find your targets etc. made a change.

I'm enjoying it , As with all ass creed games I end up wondering around for hrs on end just taking in the scenery, stumble upon targets from quests I have not started and become terribly op.
Then it gets boring to me and I will play it for an hr every now and again for a yr ..origins took me 2 yrs to finish I definitely get my moneys worth :messenger_mr_smith_who_are_you_going_to_call:

Finished it but only because I paid money for it. It became boring after 5 hours or so but I had nothing other to play so I let it bore me for 70 hours...
I liked Valhalla way more 🤷🏻‍♂️

Reading your epic post, I would really like to know what you'd think of KCD2, which in my opinion is polar opposite of Ubislop, while in the similar genre (large open world RPG).
You didn't ask me, but for what it's worth, KCD2 is my 2025 GOTY, by far - But I also very much enjoyed my time with Shadows 🤷‍♂️

$9.99 is my target price. Even then, it's gonna depend on how much hard drive space I have when it goes on sale. This is coming from someone that bought every single previous AC game on launch day.

Oh man believe me. I finished KCD2 before AC Shadows and yes it's basically the polar opposite. *Fantastic* sequel that really elevated the already great original. I spent over a hundred hours in that game wishing for it not to end. When I did finish it I was looking up all sorts of threads to read people's posts while desperately looking for a clue to a possible sequel, a leak or a sort of easter egg or whatever. Absolutely fell in love with the series especially because I pretty much played them back to back, meaning I spent around 200 hours in Bohemia and STILL wanted more. Bless Warhorse!

30 hours and stopped. Had my fun with it and felt like I had done/seen it all. Got my moneys worth.

I DID want to just focus on story at that point but it was far too long for each main assassination needed like 10 hours of content I'd already done on repeat.

I do think I prefer the length and flow of Mirage but everything else goes to Shadows. Hoping the next game is another shorter focused title that looks as good as shadows in a unique setting. Next year up is the mirage team again or is it black flag remake? I have no interest in an AC game remake.

Did not finish unfortunately. Just couldn't stay interested.

Shadows, Veilguard, and Avowed all followed a really similar trajectory for me.

The first 10 hours or so I was actually really impressed.

Hours 11-20 the flaws really started grating me.

Then at about 20hrs I was just over it.

Series should have died with Enzo and Black Flag should have been it's own Pirate franchise.

I think Ghosts ruined my expectations for a game set in Japan created with passion. Shadows is something else entirely.

Unfortanately I think Ronin was better in many ways. Ubisoft should have made the game based on the Shogun TV series ;)

I've played ~5 AC games all the way through. The other ~5 that I started felt like more of the same, and I dropped them, wondering why I ever bothered.

I learned to stop giving them a shot.
