It was the padding that happened to have more character than the main characters. And then it caught on.

Pretty sure they were just popular. They almost got their own spinoff. They weren't in the sentai.

They were like, the only kind of trained actors and yeah they were popular.

Popular and they offset some of the "seriousness" with their comedy. Besides that, they're great actors who the Rangers can play off of. Earlier on they were sort of assholes but they get closer to the Rangers as the shows progress. They needed humans they can play off of besides themselves.

Probably easier to devote time to filming comedy scenes than fight scenes as far as american stuff is concerned. They have no sentai counterparts

Pretty sure the departure of Kim and the Shark Cycles is where I officially checked out as a kid.

The show was already in a bad place and then the departure of Kim was a huge blow for me.
The new and flashy Zeo brought me back for a while but I didn't follow it nearly as closely as before. I dont think I made it to the end.
Turbo was DOA. Totally out.
In Space brought me back hard.
I got one episode into Lost Galaxy and called it quits for good.

Zedd and Rita stole her power coin, so Zordon cut her off from the coin so they couldn't use it for evil. She's siphoning power from the others so she can still morph. RIght now, she's trying to train for some big gymnastics thing, but juggling that and Ranger duties is tiring her out.
