Twitch Plays Pokemon Thread 3: Return of Red... Aussies win again!

We're now using democracy to go through battles....I don't think I can watch this anymore.

It's the hourly democracy system. It's not that people want democracy per se, but when it happens it's so easy to use the temptation becomes really hard to resist. The best system was still that used at the end of the Red run.

"We'll only use Democracy for impossible parts!"

"We'll only use it for time-consuming and boring parts!"

"We'll only use it for risky parts like the PC!"

"We'll only use it for switching the party in the right order!"

"As long as we don't use Democracy for battles, everything is good."

To be fair, the stream has gotten progressively worse at playing the game, so they're not really going anywhere with or without democracy.

I dont remember pidgeot to be so useful.
Each time I caught a flying type, near endgame I got him out of the party since he became lame

Yeah, I have to admit I'm amazed at how both times a Pidgeot has ended up being an absolute powerhouse on our team. Also, Brian's lore is amazing. Him and General Lazor between them are easily up with the last gen in terms of character development. Brian > Bird Jesus.

But Brian and his lore exist only because of Bird Jesus and what a freaking anomaly that was, always pulling us through and surviving PC madness. An even when most of us were certain he would become redundant due to crappy move set he kept on delivering. But yeah, as I character, Brian gives off more empathy, the sort of ultimate underdog anyone would want to root for, while Bird Jesus in his prime gave us the HOLY SHIT BASED PIDGEOT DID IT AGAIN, WHAT IS THIS I DONT EVEN.

Man, those were the days. :P

Was last time you checked a week ago? Because aside from day 1 and 2 of crystal, views have been hovering around 15-30k the whole game. In the last few days its dipped down to 10k or lower late at night.

Yes it was, at this rate if they do end up doing a RSE playthrough I might end up playing it by myself.

I launch the stream with the PC advancing toward on NPC, and thought "I wonder who this is"

"Hi, I'm the MOVE DELETER..."

Oh gods. Democracy appears to be holding.

Oh god, why are we talking to the move deleter?
The main reason was to get rid of all of Espeon's moves except Bite, so he will learn Psychic at level 47, and not overwrite Bite. Since they went to all the trouble of going out there, the hivemind decided they might as well forget Gator's Whirlpool, Brian's Whirlwind, and Katie's Agility while they're at it.

Didn't even know Brian knew Agility, but that's gone now too. And we made it out safely. Looks like we're gonna fly back to Indigo Plateau before Anarchy returns.

KT still has thunder wave correct?

It'll be like when we switched Zapdos to the first slot in democracy, much much easier to beat the E4. Less of a challenge. Idk, I don't feel removing the moves was really necessary. Seems kind of cheap, whether it's "within the rules" or not.

Should be called Twitch Can't Play Pokemon Without Making It As Easy As Possible.

You mean the way that basically everybody plays Pokemon?

What, do you try to attack the Elite Four with nothing but unevolved Pidgies or something?

You know, maybe I don't miss Lorelei so much after all.

Stream's having trouble with me for some reason... :-\

Goddamn that umbreon took the hit like a champ then confused us. Even though we chain surfed successfully we weren't able to circumvent the confusion.

I'd like to remind everyone not to get excited if we beat Karen (thus defeating the Elite Four), because

And don't forget Lance packs multiple Full Restores.

Which is why we have icy wind. At gator's level it should 1HKO the dragonites, and surf will deal with the rest.

If I wanted to see the way everybody plays pokemon I'd play it myself.

Well we just had anarchy do its due dilligance and run our collective face into Koga's fist for a solid day. Now you're seeing 14k+ people coordinating together to execute a plan. Hardly "easy mode".

I agree. Anarchy and democracy both have challenges, they are just different. Even when one person plays Pokémon alone, there are trade-offs with challenge. When Nuzlocking, catching Pokémon is easy, but battles are harder because you don't necessarily have optimal 'mon, plus having to replace those that faint. But the opposite - seaching over and over for that one special Pokémon to catch, with the nature & ability you want, checking IV calculators, repeating until you find the strongest - that makes catching Pokémon a challenge, but battles are easier with your godlike Pokémon. It all depends where you want the challenge.

Between Umbreon's ability to resist sweeps and inflict confusion, Vileplume's Stun Spore, and Gengar's Curse and Destiny Bond - all of which stack - Karen is Koga 2.0.
