please delete if a repeat, i searched but couldn't find anything

In an exclusive interview, Zatko ['Mudge' -Tsch] said he will examine “information security, site integrity, physical security, platform integrity -- which starts to touch on abuse and manipulation of the platform -- and engineering.”

Zatko most recently oversaw security at the electronic payments unicorn Stripe. Before that, he worked on special projects at Google and oversaw handing out grants for projects on cybersecurity at the Pentagon’s famed Defense Advanced Research and Projects Agency (DARPA).

Zatko's colorful career began in the 1990s, when he simultaneously conducted classified work for a government contractor and was among the leaders of Cult of the Dead Cow, a hacking group notorious for releasing Windows hacking tools in order to goad Microsoft into improving security.

This is an interesting move, is it not? I wish to be educated:

- What kind of cyber threats must twitter protect against?
- Does twitter historically have problems with security?
- In what way do you think this guy might do things differently?
- Do you know this 'famed' dude? If so, for what?

It feels like a hire to reassure people they are serious about security, because Mudge is a bonafide superstar in that realm. cDc might be what gets his name in regular media outlet articles but the work done by the group at L0pht is much more important and a better gauge of his character and talent. Twitter gets a big name that will attract a higher level of talent to their company, and Mudge gets PAID. Win, win
