While these tweaks go a long way to helping the gameplay feel authentic, a dip in the default difficulty counteracts that. If you've ever played Madden before you'll want to start at All-Pro, and All-Madden will be your regular choice sooner than later. Some old balance issues have also crept back in, most notably in the passing game. You can pretty consistently throw over the top of any secondary, regardless of how strong the cornerback out there is. And zone defenses are back to being a liability as it is all but impossible to knock the ball free from a receiver once it touches their hands.

Bottom Line
There are some things missing from the game. No pre-season camps, a very basic Franchise mode, and the fact that you can't do small and meaningful things like challenge a play on the field! That I still don't get. However, that said, Madden is still a pretty solid pickup for your Xbox 360. You will not quickly get over the graphic quality and the controls with the new shoulder buttons. When you pick your jaw up off the ground you'll understand. Madden fans will likely be disappointed with the lack of depth in the game modes and such. But it's still a solid first start for EA Sports in the next generation! Now let's see what the other launch titles are like!
