my email said i was going from about £700/year to £1,000.
i don't think the prices in my meter have changed yet. i put £50 in on the 31st march so the day before they were to go up. i have a prepayment meter. still got £59 left which should last me another month but i think once i top it up again then the new prices will come in. just moved into this house and it had the key meter. it's taking £2.05 off a week for fucking nothing so will be getting them to rip it out and put a new one in and change it to direct debit. that's what i do with gas. that was £61/month but now down to £50. that's on a set price to november. that'll be going up a shit load this winter.
and that's just energy! council tax is up. rent is up. prices of food going up. national insurance going up. pension contributions going up. but wages won't fucking change to keep up. well, apparently there is payrise coming but fuck knows when and it won't be enough to keep up. i'm fortunate enough to be in a really good secure job but still i've been doing what i can to improve my wages. my hours have been increased a bit and been doing a lot more over time. spoke to HMRC and they said i was eligible to increase my tax allowance so im saving about £25 a year. it's not a lot but it's something. quit the union which is saving me ~£116/year. i know it's good to be in it but the cunts kept raising the prices and i've not needed them in the last decade i've been in this job. if anything happens i can join again.
i'm quite good at saving but i've been sticking about 10% of my wages away each week for the last month or so. i set up a standing order to take it out as soon as my wages are in. i'll be keeping that aside incase i am struggling to pay anything.
That plus high london travel prices and food going up. This because of brexit or some other BS the tories had a hand in ?
brexit, covid, ukraine, climate change. lots of factors.
