  • Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has reportedly moved to assemble a "Transformation Committee" whose main goal it will be to both "guide the evolution" of the Assassin's Creed studio and help them find a "new lease on life".
  • The ten-person committee, as hand-picked by CEO Yves Guillemot, will spend the next 100 days formulating the best ways to help the studio recover from their recent string of failures and chart a new direction for their future operations.
  • Notably, one of the committee's members is none other than Yves Guillemot's son, Charlie Guillemot, who will co-lead the group alongside Ubisoft's Chief Studios & Portfolio Officer Marie-Sophie de Waubert.
  • They confirmed in their Full-Year 2024-2025 Earnings Report, to undertake a "fixed cost reduction of at least €100 million to be achieved over the next two years."

I see absolutely nothing about addressing their garbage wokeness and their inability to evolve gameplay whatsoever.

Maybe they should just go on youtube and watch any of the 1000s of videos with millions of views on the subject and get the answer right away 🤷‍♂️

That would mean admitting they were wrong instead of doubling down on the shit that has them in the coffin, about to close shut.

Hopefully they are self aware and able to pivot. Would be a shame to see another studio bite the dust because they were oblivious to their own mistakes.

Here's a wild idea: move on from Assassin's Creed. The franchise has clearly hit local maximum. Give people time to miss it and try diversifying while at it.

tbf, asscred japan would be the biggest hit if ubisoft didn't do what ubisoft does

uh? Shaodws was a massive success, that's their new direction.

Ubisoft should use this "discovery" for their next historical accurate Ass-Creed
Sales numbers came out and it under performed. Financials were not great.

They need to do something new. Fresh something people want. They need to do an AC where you meet JESUS.

Wording of the article is retarded. "The Assassin's Creed studio" is referring to Ubisoft generally and is not specific to the teams making Assassin's Creed. The article even says "reflections around this transformation of our brands and studios". It's like calling Microsoft "the Halo studio".

It's just so annoying, Ubi used to be so damn good in the 90s and early 2000s.
I feel that. Honestly, they were great through the 2010s. They lost their way more or less in the same way other developers did, only worse, and they keep doubling down.

It's sad to see, but what can you do?

"Can you just make games that feel less soulless?"

The new product line the Transformation Committee of "experts" comes up with:

Wow, you need 10 people to figure out what's wrong with Shadows and the franchise in general?

What a waste of money, share holders should be upset. Obvious is obvious. How do you mess up an Assasins Creed in Japan, what everyone wanted for years. Unforgivable.

If people still think Shadows was a success after this, I'm not sure what to tell you.

AC Shadows is so successful they had to give up 25% control of the franchise and assembled 'transformation committee' to find 'new lease on life' for the franchise :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy: :messenger_tears_of_joy:

C'mon where's AC Shadows defenders at?? I wanna hear what their takes on this

Tencent got acammed by the Guillemot crooks, those three franchises are not worth 4 billion euro

I mean, they should try playing Ac Shadows themselves, the issues are almost immediate.

I bounced off AC shadows so hard bc the feeling of "been there, done that" set in just 10 hours in. Rinse, repeat and fills these bars... Not to mention traveling sucks absolute ass in that game. Good luck cutting through that forest for a short cut lol.

Graphics were good at least..

Bringing back Splinter cell, without compromising Fisher's character, and making a sequel that stays close to the original trilogy's gameplay and thought out narrative beats would be a start. It would give them some much needed good will.

This series is a prime example of creative bankruptcy.

How we went from a potential trilogy to the Madden of action games I'll never know

What the hell is this source ?

I read the french article, the tone is a bit different:
- AC Shadows' success and Tencent putting money in the company will help them to find a new « wave of success »
- they creating a committee with 10 people to find 100 million in 100 days by reducing the costs
- it's a strategy for Guillemot to put his son back in charge

Basically Ubisoft is doing its own DOGE and French Musk is Guillemot's son

It's quite simple, they need to sunset the franchise as it's just a crutch for a series that has essentially become "kill people in a historical point in time".

They should make historical games that stand by themselves or another concept for moving around in time periods.

Or they could just make Splinter Cell.

The CEO appoints his own son to save the company, lmao
As my older brother always told me when it comes to buying stocks (he's more into buying small cap stocks as opposed to Fortune 500): Always be weary when it's a company run by family members.

There's always dumb shit that goes down or they rip off the company for themselves.

This applies to family run shit in general. I know of a family who run a pharma company and they are absolute cunts. Also know of a family franchise that run itself into the ground. The family were fuckin useless and had no idea how to run a restaurant. Familiar theme..

Families.

i recently bought AC: shadows special edition on ps5 cause i read there was soo many stealth bug fixes, and so far im liking playing it as Naoe, but the Yasuke otherhand i dont care which race or so he is but theres nothing AC on it i dunno why they made it

If they don't know till now, they won't know it ever.
They had half a decade to fail and learn, what's 100 more days gonna do.

You do not need a committee, you need to reinvent the entire franchise when it comes to AC to make it fun once more. You made a decent recovery on the stealth as Naoe, but there's still enough to be done to make it even better.

I hope the committee is diverse enough, wouldn't want to go back to appealing straight male customers.

The whole series should be restarted. No one cares about the assassins vs. templars storyline anymore (or about the first civilization) and I also don't think it's a good idea to have their conflict in the background, without actively participating in it like in the older games. It also doesn't take a genius to figure out why people love games like AC2.

Please read the OG source and not trash that was written by a clickbait farm in the OP.

It's not even about AC but about Ubisoft financial, operational and management structure in general, especially after the Tencent deal.

Their (what used to be) popular franchises are all martial themed (killing people in a historical setting, killing people as part of some Tom Clancy special forces unit, killing people as a lone ultra badass operator). The audience for these games is, broadly speaking, conservative-leaning males, and probably mostly white conservative-leaning males.

Their employees are purple-haired, woke-leaning women and woke-leaning metrosexual men. They despise most of their audience and are more concerned with trying to impose their world view on them than with trying to produce entertainment for them.

It doesn't require a hand-picked elite committee of ten to unravel the mystery of why this isn't working and what needs to change: it requires one person with common sense. Unless they're spending the 100 days working out how they can get around whichever laws are preventing them from getting rid of most of their current employees and finding replacements who don't hate their audience, they're basically fucked.

Sometimes people surprise you. Here in the uk we just had the populist nigel Farage steamroll the local elections. I had expected the current liberal (Labour party) leader Starmer, to just stick his head in the sand, but he didn't, he identified the grievances that led to the vote and are trying to address them, without falling to the extremes of right wing populism. I was honestly surprised.

This committee is also being led by Charles, who was forced out by the mob during the BLM era. So we will see.

I'll remain pessimistic, but I wouldn't be entirely surprised if they find the golden path and fix their shit.

Watch next they will have a white guy in Africa and completely miss why people were upset with shadows.

it's easy.

bring the budget down, rein the scope in, reboot the franchise and start again even if it's with desmond and start to really create some uniformity between the games rather than "they all have towers".

Finally bring it back to it's stealth routes. button masher open world slashy games are a dime a dozen, if you are going to make one then your gameplay really needs to shine which the AC franchise does not (it's why Far cry was generally more liked until FC6 put basically 0 effort in).

AC should basically be the Hitman reboot trilogy on steroids, that would be the ultimate AC game, and i'd pay top dollar for it. Instead of humongous open worlds that 90% people barely explore, have smaller regions filled to the brim with interactivity and new ideas.

oh and finally and obviously, likeable characters. You don't need to change the worlds perception with your videogame, just make it fun.

Shadows needs an ships/airship or something for travel. It's becoming a slog running across these massive maps, smh. Repetitive too. People just want to upgrade stuff whether a ship, boat, or other vehicle. Not sure about the whole base creation/upgrade thing in Shadows. A vehicle of some sort would have been better. It's one of the reasons why I think AC: Black Flag was so successful.
