Ubi Turns Turtle Deal

Ubisoft has landed the license to publish games based on the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles feature-length CG film.
It's expected that the games will be available in conjunction with the movie's planned release in early 2007. The movie is being produced by Imagi Animation Studios and Warner Bros. The licensing deal was handled by 4Kids.

Alfred Kahn, chairman and CEO of 4Kids Entertainment said, "We're confident Ubisoft's commitment to quality, strong international distribution and presence in the worldwide video game market will complement the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie experience and help generate added excitement for the Turtles brand."

4Kids latest TV show on the Turtles is broadcast in 90 territories.

Ubisoft has a poor track record with action games, but, what the hell, Konami hasn't made a good TMNT game since Turtles in Time for God's sake. Konami can't even get the 2D handheld games right.

Let's see if Ubi can do better. They can't do worse.

At least this gives me a chance to ignore the new Turtles games. I get a little confused as a gamer when all the old Konami TMNT games were awesome, and all the new Konami TMNT games were terrible. Them being made by Ubi Soft lets my geeky mind relax and ignore them......

....unless they somehow make a great game, in which case, praise the new developers!

I love Konami for all their past TMNT games.

But as a huge TMNT fan and big fan of the new show, they have put almost no effort into their last 4 attempts at games. The handheld versions weren't as bad but they were bland and almost all identical. UBI has a pretty good reputation I'm hoping we get some quality games for all the TMNT fans.

Ubisoft on the other hand has been making some kick ass games all this gen (or last gen now that 360 is out), so i couldnt think of a better team to get it.
