Today, Ubisoft quietly pushed an update to Far Cry 4 that removes nudity from the game. Key change in the update include adding a loincloth to Ajay (a male character) in one scene with full frontal nudity and modifying multiple female characters to wear bras. The character Yuma has also been given a bra, despite her previous attire already entirely covering her breasts. According to SteamDB, the update also adds an installer for the UPlay launcher and Ubisoft Connect. The changes only affect the Steam version of the game at the time of writing.

The update has sparked online discussions, with many fans expressing confusion about the sudden censorship in a game that's more than ten years old. Others speculate this may be the result of Tencent's increased investment into Ubisoft. According to some reports, the new update has also broken mod integration.

Going back to a ten years old offline singleplayer game to cover boobs? What's going on here? You don't touch code that old unless you're working on it anyways... for, maybe, a remaster? Switch 2 port, as mentioned in OP?

Who is interested in fucking FC4.

Even for Switch 2.

This seems Tencent waving the no nudity wand

Even if its a switch 2 port. It's kind of fucked up to update the other games. It's a tiny thing that I don't care about but it sets a shit continuous precedent where old games can be changed.

No exclusives, too many gaas, garbage politics in games, censorship everywhere and now even recensoring old games. Our hobby sucks nowadays, don't think it will get better, the golden era is long gone unfortunately.

My only hope is the eastern devs, games like Stellar blade is where I am at. Fml

There I was. Sweating furiously in heated passion. Treating my loins to a little FarCry 4 like I usually do on Thursday nights. All of a sudden, my UbiSoft Connect software prompted an update. "Sure" I thought. I wanted to edge a little more anyways. Got up to pour a 58oz Mtn Dew and let the software update (I demand the most modern and best experience when I use UbiSoft software). Game loads back up and I take my Pikachu onzie back off for more adult stroking and WHAM! The beautifully rendered UbiSoft women are now clothed! What the fuck is this? What luddite prude thought fit to remove booba from my entertainment software!? GAF, I won't stand for it. As sexually desensitized alpha consumers, we need to rise up.

While they are at it they could patch the online requirements of ghost recon wildlands and it's sequel and denuvo out of their recent games before those games become unusable when they go financialy under.

here's the reality of it, the only way to send a sign is to request a refund and sue if it gets declined.

but noone will do that, and so shit like this will continue to happen

Censoring games outside of China is unacceptable, they tried this with Siege and from what I know backed down after the outrage. But of course they'll try again, especially now that Tencent/China have a lot more to say.

It's a lose-lose scenario. Ubisoft was pissing off the anti-woke crowd and now they'll be pissing off the anti-china crowd.

At least you can still kill thousands of people leading an uprising to put a goddam brainwashed zealot child fucker or a cunty drug lord who loves child labor at the helm of the country.

Puritanism is an ugly disease.

This is just as likely to be some woke devs lashing out because of anger over recent developments as it trying to appease China. What utter ridiculousness to go back and censor a 10-year-old game. The demise of Ubisoft continues apace.

Is China really the problem when this censorship could have been done months before the merger?
I heard it's because they might be consolidating their SKUs for a rerelease. This censorship was already present in the japanese version of the game, apparently.

Likely part of the tencent deal, although I do not know their history with risqué content, but seems like the only explanation

It says the changes only affect the Steam version - does that mean the console versions are not censored yet? I noticed the update also added their installer. Does that mean you didn't need Ubisoft Connect to play it before?

They should make a statement on why they're doing this. People have a right to know why a company is going in and altering a product that they already paid for.

Funny cuz Eve would be considered too dressed in FC4 and 6.

Our hobby sucks nowadays, don't think it will get better, the golden era is long gone unfortunately.

This hobby isnt for you....saying "our hobby sucks" is an insult to anyone who actually enjoys games.

If you are currently having trouble finding games to play that dont "offend" you, maybe you should pick up star gazing or something.
Cuz i dont know anyone who doesnt have a backlog.

Do you guys spend all day just playing games, cuz how are you able to eat through everything and still have enough time to complain about the hobby as a whole?

compared to what?
Compared to any example you could ever find of censored characters.

Point I was trying to make is that they aren't scared of showing off some skin in their games.

That character isnt nude so there is no need to censor anything.

Find me a character that has nipples showing.

Where are all the "based China will remove DEI" posters now?
On the contrary I think it's more likely for China to push DEI in studios that aren't Chinese to make them less appealing to the global market.

Overall I think that if the Americans want to push their woke puritanist sensibilites on the world we might just as well skip the tip-toeing and go full burka instead.
