Ubisoft Silently Pushes Far Cry 4 Update That Adds Censorship [UP: Technical error tied to a specific regional build, and it's now been corrected]

That character isnt nude so there is no need to censor anything.

Find me a character that has nipples showing.
Some of the enemies have nipples showing, and you can make your female character go tits out. Don't ask me how tho, I played a male. :goog_relieved:

You couls also check Baldur's Gate 3. Lots of nudity in that game with Tencent owning like a third of the studio.

I mean it could depend on game)studio/influence they have

and the gooners lose another one. Far Cry Primal has lots of unga-bunga tits and there was even random cave-people laying on the floor openly fucking. Bet it's next.

There happy to do this petty shit but not pump out a 60fps high res version of FC4/Primal for Xbox/PS . I have it on PC aswell so I can play it like that but just thought I would make the point.

I honestly don't get purpose behind this. Some overseeing authority at Ubisoft suddenly had the urge to patch out nudity in a 10 year old game...? Why?

Where are all the "based China will remove DEI" posters now?

I'll gladly sacrifice nips in exchange for forced DEI and lectures with subtletly of a jackhammer by characters like T(r)aash.

I'm at a point where I don't want to see most western developed characters naked anyway lmao.

Both can be true, China can remove DEI while also being censorous.

Why do internet brains operate like this, like for people who scream non-binary all the time they seem to only think in binary about everything

Getting ready to port it to Switch 2 maybe
There are games with nudity on Switch without censoring. Watch Dogs was on WiiU and has titties and that's 2014. 11 years ago. Times have changed a long time ago. This has nothing to do with Nintendo and everything with Ubisoft.

Why would China "remove DEI" when they invest $4.56 trillion into ESG and have a $1.4 trillion wealth fund directly backing ESG in the States?

Why would China "remove DEI" when state media CGTN praises the system as being similar to social credit?

Why would China "remove DEI" when last year they published the "Corporate Sustainability Reporting Standards ("CSRS") - Basic Standards", which outlines how Chinese companies now have to disclose on ESG, and eventually align with global ESG frameworks by 2030?

Why would China "remove" DEI when state-owned Tencent, who now have a minority stake in the new Ubisoft carve out, literally have a page outlining their commitment to DEI in the ESG section of their website?

maybe you should pick up star gazing or something.
Wow, such an elitist hobby. Also, the stars a re racist - you see black stars anywhere? It's always white, yellow, red, or something else, never black.
Overall I think that if the Americans want to push their woke puritanist sensibilites on the world we might just as well skip the tip-toeing and go full burka instead.
Puritan sensibilities imply male, white.

People trying to blame every entity (Nintendo, Tencent, CCP) while it's most likely 100% Ubisoft's decision. Today's Ubisoft is full of DEI garbage that I wouldn't be surprised if they are trying to "correct" sins of their past. You know like female nudity or attractive female charaters. Or this is a distraction so social media doen't talk about their stock which is tanking right now (alrrady down 11.3% today)

What could possibly prompt them to do this at this time?

Tencent's requirements, maybe?

The most effective distraction is one where no one's thinking or talking about you at all. This definitely isn't that.

It's like getting caught stealing, and while everyone's arguing about whether to throw you in jail, you loudly fart and go, 'Hey guys, I just ripped one, maybe focus on that instead.'

They are doing exactly the same as Disney, revisionism and self-censorship.

People still seem to not understand that Tencent doesn't push creative decisions, they just ask for results.

Tencent has invested heavily in Shift Up and Kuro, to name two studios with notorious female designs. The mental gymnastics of Ubisoft's white knights is really something.

Funny cuz Eve would be considered too dressed in FC4 and 6.

This hobby isnt for you....saying "our hobby sucks" is an insult to anyone who actually enjoys games.

If you are currently having trouble finding games to play that dont "offend" you, maybe you should pick up star gazing or something.
Cuz i dont know anyone who doesnt have a backlog.

Do you guys spend all day just playing games, cuz how are you able to eat through everything and still have enough time to complain about the hobby as a whole?
this hobby isn't for you either if you're okay with censorship. Complaining about the people that complain about censorship means you're supporting it.

maybe you should take your own suggestion and go star gazing instead.

They are promoting something in a RIVAL COUNTRY that will destroy its cultural influence.

It's called trojan horse for a reason.

You should wonder WHY China would promote such a thing in the USA? It can never be for good unless you believe in magical pangolins and other fantasy creatures.

You would have a point if you didn't ignore everything else I said describing how China are pushing it internally.

It's really not hard to understand why: people who want DEI/ESG in the West tend to be heavily left leaning. China is also heavily left leaning, but being a totalitarian state and not just a jamboree of oddballs like the purple forum, they actually have the means and the capital to enforce these measures. The CCP are quite literally the ideological fellow travellers of western Marxists.

Instead of acknowledging this, we get harebrained narratives that China will buy Ubisoft, remove DEI and save gaming. Or that them supporting ESG in the West is just a 4D chess move to destabilize them, when the reality is they're balls deep in it themselves. I even linked linked to the CCP's own English website describing their push for ESG disclosure by 2030.

Hence I ask the question, on the back of speculation about whether Tencent pushed for the Far Cry changes:

Where are all the "based China will remove DEI" posters now?

because "based China" has been so provably false for years now and yet people still have their heads in the sand.

And don't confuse my description of the situation as endorsement. Just because I didn't think Assassins Creed Shadows was the third nuke to hit Japan doesn't mean I want to see any censorship happening.

This is why most AAA games will never be considered art. Besides too much monetary interests involved, just think about it. Someone came up with a character design, sat down for hours and countless iterations and put creative work into it. Several other people, also spending time and resources on an evaluation process and thought the design good and fitting and lead the whole process until implementation.

Just for someone to look at it almost eleven years later and enact creative revisionism.

We see this in other media as well, especially literature. But once a copy is printed, it's out there. You can only alter it by releasing another copy. Facsimile are still a thing and some publishing houses even reprint classic books as they were, e.g. Sherlock Holmes using cocaine on daily basis and having Watson use the n-word.

With video games, it's not preserved, it's overwritten. That's not how you treat art.

Those big companies have only one "creative" vision: dollars, and what sells most.

This just in: China talks the talk to foreign investors who stupidly continue to do so.

You do realise you can't take Chinese companies to court, you literally can't enforce them to do anything they are saying they will do.

They have literal sweatshops with literal human slave labor. But here you post commitment to DEI articles as if it means anything; all they have to do is promise, that's all.

One blue haired angry employee wrote an angree letter about this game, and now this happens. DEI overpowering logic, because this will in no way help sales or add life to the game.

You guys are all about boobs, but this is real news:
Yup. Falling or the easy rage bait again and missing the real "fuck you" from Ubisoft here. This used to be the perfect context to advise people to "stay woke", but that's a slur now, apparently, so...enjoy the installer, I guess.

"update to Far Cry 4 that removes nudity from the game"

I don't believe it. I'll need before and after pics please.

Good. I found the nude/sex scenes in the Far Cry games to be cringy and forced tbh. Like I was playing a part in some fat weirdo game developers wet fantasy.
