Udon should make SFIV

It's a capital idea if you ask me. Udon's been picking up Capcom's slack as of late on spreading the word bout their 2d fighting legends. I mean, they're just about involve with everyone of their 'newest' fighters.

SOMEONE should make Street Fighter 4.

Capcom Japan. Capcom USA with character design from Udon. I don't give a crap anymore; I just want to see something NEW from Capcom. Powerstone was the last original fighter from them, and that was 1998. It's time for something new.

I don't even care if the game is *gasp* 3D at this point. :P

Screw that.

XS+ or Shogmaster, IIRC, summed up my thoughts on it a while back in another thread.

Udon is only capable of cribbing from Capcom Design Works and the rest of the Capcom artbook library.

I'd rather have the talented and proven designers are Capcom Japan back on the job, or not at all. :X

It just seems silly to mark an anniversary with a re-release like they did, especially when SFIII Third Strike is so ancient by video game standards. It really is time for a genre busting Street Fighter IV.

If there's one thing I give Sammy with Guilty Gear Isuka, it's that they at least were trying something new and going all out to add something to the 2D fighter. Capcom should take the hint.

A 4-player Street Fighter... now that's something i'd like to see!

On a side note, i think SNK should take a hint from Capcom and develop some new IP. Seriously, they've become worse than Capcom when it comes to rehashing sequels (that are all BUT fighting games).

SNK has created more fighting game series than Capcom has. :) They also were the first (yes, BEFORE SF3 SNK made sequels with new casts like Art Of Fighting 3) and continue to introduce lots of new characters into their games, so I'm okay with them.

I would like to see something new besides KOF, but they seem to be ready to do something new with the series anyway.

It's not ancient by fighting game standards, and I didn't mind its rerelease, since it only came out for Dreamcast originally. I would have liked to have seen a Vampire Chronicle-style take on the game, with three versions of each character, all the BGMs, all the old backgrounds, etc.

True, but the thing is, developer Arc System Works is also now guilty (no pun intended) of sprite rehashing; there's ONE new character in GG Isuka, and the 4P fighting system they went with didn't exactly turn out that great.

If developers are too lazy to start making brand new, well-animated sprites for their games, move to 3D. Make the game PLAY 2D, but use polygon characters. They could easily be made to look 2D with cel shading, too.

I don't mind crossover games if they're done right (see Neo-Geo Battle Colliseum, with its large roster, NEW sprites, and characters not seen in a decade in some cases), but games like Capcom Fighting Evolution reek of complete laziness.

Make a CFE sequel that uses characters like Dante, Mega Man, Strider, etc., and no shitty art/horrible use of old sprites, and I'll be okay with it, but really, MAKE SOMETHING FUCKING NEW ALREADY. 3D fighting games are guilty of the same thing. Tekken 5 is awesome and all, but there's only THREE new characters, and one of them is just a new version of a previous character.

It's time for all these games to start fresh with new characters. Just include a few older faces for the whiners and you're set.

BTW guys, The Rumblefish releases for PS2 in Japan next week. I thought it was only an average figher when I tried the arcade version, but I'm still looking forward to something NEW and hopefully it will be a better game than I thought ater I spend some time with it.

SF3 on the PS2 was more or less arcade perfect (sans some wierd Aegis unblockables .. I think), wheras the DC version was completely screwed up. But yeah, your point still stands.

At this rate, I'd gladly take Street Fighter Alpha 3 remade with Third Strike graphics. ANYTHING new to play would be alright. :(
I can't even picture how that'd be. With the difference in animation frames things would definitely feel different. It'd be interesting, to say the least.

*wild speculation*

-Capcom Studio 1 is working on a Capcom Vs Namco 2D fighter, set for System 246 release with PS2/PSP/Xbox ports to follow. Fighting system molded after their Marvel fighters rather than later Vs games, with more emphasis on non-fighting game characters and less SF/DS regurgitation.

-Capcom Studio 8 will start work on SF4 for next generation platforms in cooperation with Udon Studios after their PS2 Bionic Commando revival finishes up. The game will be fully 3D, cellshaded and takes place 10 years after SF3.

I think they should do away with the regular Streert Fighter and focus on a new Street Fighter spinoff combining all of the most popular and diverse SF characters and a few new ones.

They did. It's called Dark Stalkers :D

We might hav to wait around another century for that to happen.

If something is worth doing; it's worth doing right.

Uh, reading what the Abdominal Crunch Snowman wrote - Darkstalkers has nothing to do with popular SF characters.

Personally, I would prefer Capcom to just expand on the World Warrior theme. Keep all of the original cast from their unique countries and add characters and fighting styles from new countries.

It would certainly eliminate the need for screwball filler characters like Twelve and a few of the other screwy-er SF3 characters that would have been better suited in the DS universe.

Besides - I want my shovel swinging Polak fighter. :P

I hope Rumblefish gets released in the States. For no other reason than all the Garnet pr0n I've downloaded has got me interested in knocking her clothes off. :D
