It's pretty terrifying from what I'm told, it's far more mutated than it should be and they suspect it's already the main variant in that region in just a matter of days. Probably not umbrella corporation level bad, but I hope you are all prepared for another lockdown.
Supposedly it barely resembles the original variant, and almost every change is for the worst - they are questioning if Rockstar games released it

Luckily here in japan people are getting vaccinated (80% in 6 months?) and virtually everybody is using mask, even in big parties, not only client but even the dj

But if that is 100 days to push the start button on mass production that is too long as it'll be many more days before you've got it into any meaningful number of arms and you're still just hoping that regulators go 'sure, why not' instead of waiting for trials etc.
I still find it strange we're jabbing people based on the original Wuhan sample and not a tweak for Delta. Whilst the efficacy is still good for hospitalisations and deaths, any bump is surely worth it and can be a trial run for such tweaks.

Because Europe doesn't do much testing compared to UK. Germany is one of the worst, hence their figures are likely way, way worse.

i am Dutch and our numbers are terrible , we went into evening lock down since yesterday . Hospitalization is also bad , this is with a close to 87% vaccinated population btw Germany has lower vaccination numbers .

Bizarelly in the UK, we hit 50k cases, but the hospitalisations are still going down. Hopefully if that trend continues we might escape total lockdown. Omicron not included.
Wife had it a few weeks ago, 1 day feeling shit, and then was fine. It's screwed up her sense of taste which she's pissed about. Few other friends have it at moment, all pretty much same feedback. Light flu and sense of smell/taste gone. All double vaccinated.

The question isn’t whether they are evil. The question is whether someone should be required to take a medication they don’t want to hold a job or function in society. Whether they should have to provide “proof” to eat in a restaurant or sit in a theater. Whether that is a direction you want society to go. Because it’s not a power I want the government to have personally.
I don’t have a problem with the shots. I got my first two. I might get another, although I also had breakthrough covid a month ago, so I don’t need to worry about covid for a while. Regardless, the question isn’t whether requiring shots is a good idea or whether it will help the pandemic. Covid isn’t really that big of a deal compared to completely changing the nature of human society.
Maybe you don’t remember 2 years ago, but I do. The idea in 2019 that the governments in free countries would be forcing people to take medicine against their will or remove them from society was completely unthinkable. I am fundamentally against giving the government that much power over day to day life of people. The government doesn’t need to know whether I’ve been a good boy when I’m going out for lunch.

I am/was all for getting vaxed, im double jabbed, will get booster when im called up for the following reasons:
1. I want complete protection
2. I dont want to suffer severe Covid
3. Protect others (if im vaxxed, my immune system will suppress and or not worsen by symptoms thus reducing the chances of me spreading it)
However, given the Omicron variant and many other inevitable variants that will come, it will lead to further boosters to counter these new mutations............ where does it end? How does it end?
I'm not keen on getting booster shots every 6 months to battle every variant that causes issues, along with possible restrictions.
We'll see how Omicron changes Xmas this year, the way govt and the world is reacting now i can see restrictions being brought back in within weeks.

If you’re all for lockdowns, then why should it matter how many? Or how many boosters? You clearly aren’t all for them or you wouldn’t even ask. You’d just dutifully comply like a good boy. What difference does it make how many or how long? You’re all for it anyway.
And yes, you speak with your votes. Stop voting for people that refuse to answer basic questions. Stop voting for people who treat basic rights like leaving your home as a privilege you only get to exercise if you validate that you’ve complied with their rules that haven’t worked out like the promised anyway. Talk to you friends and family. Don’t preach. Just get them thinking about where this is all headed and whether that’s a place we want to go.
I’m not saying to march in the streets. Im saying ask the right questions. Talk to people around you. Don’t just sit back and passively go along with everything. Your question about where this is going is a reasonable one and we all deserve an answer to it.

I ‘comply like a good boy’ because I believe that measures such as lockdowns were the right response to the pandemic.
I’m free to change my mind on lockdowns whenever I want dependent on the information at the time.
I don’t see the Labour Party offering much different or any other party for that matter offering alternatives to how things are being done now.
As far as I can see, you leave the nation to go about restrictionless and no encouragement on getting vaxxed then the NHS is overrun and cannot function as a service

Hospitals from dying out? I assume you mean becoming overcrowded? Oh I don’t know. But there are plenty of places with lax restrictions where that is not happening. So I don’t think it’s a choice we even have to make.
And look, if this omicron shit turns out the be the Black Plague, so be it. Shut it down. But I am not just taking the word of these people who have been wrong time and time again. South Africa will need turn into Europe circa 1350 for me to be on board with this lockdown nonsense.
