For you guys it was the most important moment in your history, for us it was one part of a larger war against your allies, the French, that we went on to win.
It did teach us valuable lessons in how to manage colonies though, as well as effecting the opinions of those in charge on the right to vote and self determine both at home and abroad, and spur on the abolitionist movement that went on to end slavery for almost 2 centuries throughout most of the world.
Today though, I think we mostly admire you yanks for it.
You're our rebellious eldest child that took your temper tantrum and storming off to do your own thing, and became a world power off your own hardwork, all while keeping the same values of fairness, responsibility and equality you get from us.
We like you a hell of a lot more than your loyal but boring brother Canada, that's for sure.
We still like Australia the most though.
