There's a difference
While we're on the subject of chips and foods the Americans seem to lack generally, I always find it weird when their 'pickles' seems to only refer to Gherkins.
How, in the 2 and a half centuries since buggering off, did they lose the other two chip shop staples that stand so proudly besides pickled gherkins; pickled eggs and pickled onions?
Or my personal favourite, home cookery King of pickles, pickled beetroot?
And one of the best simple meals you can make with just a couple of slices of bread an a good mature cheddar, actual Pickle
It's like sure, they gained independence, but they also seem to have lost so much.
