Ultra clear look for the iPhone is wild. Here's how to get it.

It's little changes like these is why I like Apple.

"This is not, however, the default look on the iPhone in the new iOS 26, which is now available as a developer beta."

How iPhone became the preeminent smartphone is extraordinary, for communications, the apps, I can sit with an iPhone and have fun, kill time. I could go android with Sonys nice devices, or moto but they won't give me the kinda perspective Apple devices do.

Using the iOS 26 right now it's quite the operating system and just a good look.

Discuss.

I'm too old and lazy to switch to iOS and I have become too used to the PC-like app freedom of Android. But I'm sure the user experience in iOS is top notch.
I've had a Samsung galaxy s3 and HTC phone and was disappointed by then, kids would get mocked in school if they were seen with android phones. I think Apple and android connecting their messaging systems (bubbles, dots, blue/green) would be amazing for the world.

In terms of the most brain dead sheep off a cliff cuckoldry, trying to act like transparent icons is the second coming of Christ quite literally has to be the most pathetic thing in all of human history. Just abject embarrassment personified.

This is sadly why I opted for iPhone for my nephew.

That is just sad - and I mean that about kids mocking others for their choice of phones. If that story is true, at least. Kids shouldn't carry phones around anyway, at least not expensive ones.

It's like I've been transported to 2006 when people were discussing Windows Aero and their favourite KDE themes.

So on a serious note I think the tech world is really going to go for a second attempt at "Google Glass" devices with AI hence why there will be a push for transparent UIs again. I believe Meta will change the formfactor for the next quest into a smaller AR-like device you wear out and about and Apple will try to push Vision Pro OS designs with another attempt at it with a peripheral type device. Just a hunch. As AI begins to get more popular devices will become more like humane's AI Pin but in a glasses form factor that has AR like features instead of a small laser projector.

Windows Vista, my beloved

Hah, I love this reply.
Just by looking at the picture in the OP, it wasn't obvious what I was really looking at.
If the point was transparent icons, then LMAO.

What? Like iOS 18 was the first time you could fully arrange your home screen icons without the auto-snap auto-grid garbage? My God.

I´m on iPhone since the first one, wife and kids on Android. I hate it every time I have to use her phone, the unresponsiveness, the lag - its just not as snappy. Sure, after 18 years I´m also fluent in the Apple ecosystem, so every change is difficult for my monkey brain.
What I appreciate is the openness of Android, although it led to some minor problems (especially regarding security) with my familiies phones.

All in all you should use the OS that fits your needs and that you feel comfortable with. Some people drive Tesla, others BMW. But you won´t find any discussions about car usability and design on Gaf.

What phone does your wife have becaue when I use an iPhone its so choppy and unresponsive with those 60hz screens. My coworkers have the peasant models I know that the top of the line iphones have a 120hz screens

Samsung Galaxy Whatsoever. Even my old XS was snappier, and her phone is from last year.
But I must admit: I just bought a under 100 dollar 11" tablet for my daughter to play on and it´s fast as hell. Recommendation from ChatGPT, lol, but it works. Even Minecraft runs more stable than on the Switch.

IPhone is required hardware for ios smartphone

As of 2025, Android is used more worldwide than iOS. Android holds approximately 70-72% of the global smartphone operating system market share, while iOS accounts for about 27-29%.[](https://www.statista.com/statistics/272698/global-market-share-held-by-mobile-operating-systems-since-2009/)[](https://www.bankmycell.com/blog/android-vs-apple-market-share/)[](https://twinr.dev/blogs/android-vs-ios-market-dynamics/)

i'll never understand apple people, the bubbles got less bubbly or some shit so lets add $500 to the new product hahaha, but i guess if you enjoy it then im glad for you, it doesn't effect me in anyway.

It's fun and I think it looks good. Hopefully it'll work well once it's out of beta. Don't think much else on it to be fair.

I think in general there's not much to get excited about when it comes to phones. Wether it runs on Android or iOS. Whenever I'm in the market for a replacement I'll just get what I find the best choice for me. My current phone (13 pro max), is my first iPhone ever. I like it well enough, but I don't like it more, or less for that matter, than any Android phone.

Just needed a change of scenery so to speak. And maybe these new icons will do that as well for the upcoming year We'll see.

I have no problem switching between android or iOS. It's easy, but I hate both so I use custom a OS. Hopefully more Linux phones come out and do better than they have.

I don't let my daughter take her phone to school, so I couldn't give a jolly fuck about how other kids feel about Android devices.

I would personally absolutely never use any sort of Apple product whatsoever, but that's just me.

They already did that.

Not liking the look of that in the OP at all.

I've gone back and forth between iOS and Android multiple times and am likely going back to iOS later this month with the whole family. They're so similar nowadays that it really doesn't bother me. Family Link works OK on Android, but the family stuff just works better on iOS. There are lots of weird things with Family Link, like I can't send my kid money on his Android device to use when he goes somewhere with friends. Watches don't work right if a kid has Family Link on their device. They can't use Play store gift cards with Family Link on the device. Just a bunch of BS that people have complained about with it for years and Google doesn't do anything about it.

I have an iPhone and an Android tablet. In terms of functionality these days the two OS are very similar. But the tablet does do weird stuff, is more laggy, has dodgy updates (Chrome was a total mess for two weeks and then it just got fixed somehow), just more inconsistent overall. But the differences are vastly, vastly, vastly overstated at this point.

Wish I could give this post more reactions.
