Uhh, if it was literally ANYOTHER developer, GAF would have their pitchforks and torches out. Not sure how this stuff works, but if they got the ok for it, then that's cool, still weird. But if it's in the final game then I smell a lawsuit and somebody is getting canned.

Maybe people are learning very slowly to not jump to conclusions (some of us that is) They could well have asked for permission to use the art. The only thing i'm impressed by but also at the same time find a little sad is people spotting this one piece of art so quickly that is from some ACIV art book..

I would sincerely consider giving ROTR or QB's previews a watch, especially considering that they started out with keyframing, and are using a more traditional performance capture setup compared to CD or Remedy who're both using incredibly high quality capture methods, CD especially, they used MOVA. In-game character animation is ND's specialty, not specifically facial.


There are so many nuances in that webm that it kinda disapproved your point. ._.

I own Rise of the Tomb Raider and have pre-ordered QB. They both look fantastic and I don't plan to take anything away from them, despite my view of Uncharted 4's elements being superior.

Chromatic aberration. Its a defect caused by shitty camera lenses on pictures taht for some reason game developers are copying. This is an example I always give. Life Is Strange. You cannot turn it off in game settings, but you can force it off with a config file, and the game just looks so much better


One of the more extreme examples, the other would be bloodborne. A lot of games try to use a little CA because it gives an illusion of anti aliasing, but in reality is just blurs and distorts the image and looks like shit

Pointless comparison when one image is filled with motion blur while the other has none... just flags annoying downgrade posts crying worse textures. Only things to really notice in this is time of day is (possibly) different so colour grading, contrast and saturation is affected, and density of foliage has improved... Also compression.

Amazing what compression and a non-direct screenshot can do.
