I have feeling a real reckoning is going to happen after this election.

Between Anti-Christ Hillary, rigged election claims, increased partisanship, and well, minorities existing, a decent portion of the population is going to flip once the results come in. You basically have a small subset of people, who are incredibly confrontational as well as armed, who think they've been robbed of their country.

These people have always existed, but they haven't had popular leaders in office for a long amount of time. Until now of course. The GOP infection of racist and far-right individuals has exploded in recent years, and they've voiced their opinion by electing folks such as Trump, Le Page, and Palin. Hell, even the moderates have gone crazy! John McCain, who was often portrayed as an example of a respectable republican, has gone on record, saying he want's to deadlock the supreme court for four years.

The last time I can remember something similar to this happening was in the 1800's with the whole slavery fiasco, which eventually culminated into the civil war. Now, i'm not saying it's going to get that bad, but I definitely feel things are going to get a lot worse in terms of political tension in the next few years, as the Republican Party continues to wane.

Thoughts?

So I work in a shop of about 35 people. In the south. About all but 5 (myself included in that 5) are voting trump.

Even if Hilldog wins, I gotta work with these people. Save me guys.

If there wasn't a mass revolt after Obama was re-elected I doubt it'll happen now.

Despite the hateful rhetoric most Republican's quality of life is too good to encourage a violent revolution. I'm sure there will be slight pockets of problems but nothing major, no.

The election will probably be called in:

Do the right thing today, America. I will be so pissed if that orange disaster somehow manages to win this. I'm not American, but the outcome of this will obviously affect the rest of us in significant ways as well. So please, don't fuck this up.

Regards, Sweden

One of my friends is staying home tomorrow even though he voted for Bernie because "both are terrible candidates". I told him he could at least vote for local and state positions and he said he "wouldn't bother because both parties are a mess"

:///

One of my co-workers just told me that women shouldn't be trusted to govern because they have "far too many hormone induced mood swings "...whatever the fuck that means...smfh..

Sounds like a lot of Bernie supporters.

Hillary is like 60+ ... And I thought I was bad with women biology.

Another one voted for her local Republican rep despite him having a voting record that aligned 90% with the majority of Republicans because "he's a moderate". We're in the age where anti-abortion, anti-climate change, anti-common sense gun control, anti-LGBT candidates are considered moderate because they're not flaming racist. Ugh.

I wouldnt be getting too excited about a Hiliary win to be honest, the way Trump has been continually pre-empting the masses to believe the result will be rigged will just further justify red state anger.

I'm honestly predicting that should Hiliary win, there will be riots and unrest.

Hopefully it won't go that far, but I fear Trump has done enough damage.

He basically made blatant hatred into a viable national platform for the GOP. Hillary should really be winning by a bigger landslide than Obama but since she won't, the GOP won't completely abandon Trump's ideas since the people who voted for him are the ones who control the party now and the rest of the party will fall in line.

People were hopeful that the GOP would take 2008 and 2012 as a lesson to change and to appeal to a wider voting block. I don't have any hope of the GOP changing soon and I wouldn't be surprised if there's a Tea Party like movement in 2018 with Trump supporters. Plus with an "unpopular" president in office, Democrats might not be motivated enough to go to the polls which could end up costing whatever gains Democrats get this year.

I have no doubt there are conservatives who don't like the way the GOP was heading this election, but at the same time, I'm not sure there's enough of them that outnumber the Trumpers and the ones who may not be huge fans of Trump, but think he's good enough to get their vote.

Here we go. Don't care who you're voting for. Just vote.

In any ordinary election I'd agree out of principle. But with this one I just can't. One of the choices is so extreme, and would be so bad for both the US and the rest of the world, that I'd rather you just don't bother if that's who you would vote for.

I gotta say, going from "lol Trump is running for president" to "OMG he might become president" has been the most interesting thing to watch for the past 2-3 years. No one cod have predicted this

Oh, I think we know exactly what that means.

It means someone's wife is voting for Hillary.

It's going to be closer to 11pm EST

Could be, but:

Traditionally, 11pm is correct (this is when the west coast polls close).

However, because California is locked in for Clinton... if she wins both NC and FL then the election can actually be called this year at 9pm EST.

Everything in gray literally won't matter. Trump can win all of that and will still lose.

We can even lose NC and still call it at 9:

The only wrench in the works is if we lose FL and NC. Then the night might be a few hours longer.

I voted for Bernie.

Bernie is still in the senate and he's gonna need help.

If you're not voting Democrat, you're not helping Bernie.
Tell that to all the idiots who don't give a damn about policy who are voting Trump, Johnson or abstaining after voting Bernie.

I know that isn't the majority of Bernie supporters (I voted for him too) but goddamn it's frightening that it's as many as it is.

I can't sleep. I live in Louisiana and my vote is virtually useless, but I can't wait for 6am. I won't be able to live with myself if I can't say I voted against Trump.

I'm not expecting some country shattering shit or anything, but even small pockets, of say, republican militias or what not, can snowball into pretty major issues. John Brown I think is a good example of what i'm fearful could happen, aka increases in lone-wolf attacks, or politically motivated terrorism. I do agree that most republicans are pretty sane, and won't resort to tactics like the above, but a small subset will, and as we've seen in the news already have.

Hillary Clinton wins Dixville Notch midnight vote

4 votes Hillary, 2 trumps, 1 Gary Johnson, 1 mitt Romney lol

With eight residents voting and five times as many reporters watching, Dixville Notch has spoken.
On a frigid night in the largely forgotten region about halfway between the Maine and Canadian borders, the small northern New Hampshire town came alive for several minutes of kitschy democratic conflict. This latest round of wee hours voting extends a tradition that traces back more than a half-century.

Tuesday night's result will hearten superstitious Clinton supporters. The town's small collection of dedicated voters have correctly picked the eventual winner in three of the last four contests. In 2000 and 2004 it broke for George W. Bush and in 2008 it delivered a victory for Barack Obama.

Man if we lose NC and Florida it'll be a long few hours filled with whiskey, if Ohio, Pennsylvania or NH are lost as well... the whiskey will be doubled and it'll be interspersed with a few nervous breakdowns.

Driving around my county, and seeing so many goddamn Trump lawn signs, makes me not have a lot of hope that she will win Florida. It's only one county and one that has gone red these last two elections, so it doesn't really mean anything, but I can't help but still worry.

If it makes you feel any better I live in NJ and still see a decent number of Trump Signs and I don't think NJ has gone red since Reagan, if that.

It's a damn shame. I voted for Bernie knowing full well he wouldn't win the nom, but there's no doubt of the impact he's made on the Democratic Party platform. It showed that even if your candidate doesn't win, if there's enough votes, it can make a difference.

Ad for betting in today's The Sun newspaper (UK tabloid). A guy I was chatting to at the train station showed me this, it made me laugh:

Apparently there's issues of Newsweek out now with Hillary on the cover saying she won. Trump supporters on Facebook are using it as "proof" that the election is rigged.

Yea. They have a Trump edition ready to ship should hell freeze over and he actually win. They did print and ship Hillary ones already apparently though.

As posted multiple times in this thread, there are two covers, one for Hillary and one for Donald.

As evidenced multiple times in the past couple of years, Trump supporters are dumb idiots who lack the faculty for critical thinking.
