I'm not saying there's a direct correlation, but there was definitely a notable influence. An overwhelming majority, in the US and globally, were supportive and/or understanding of the initial action taken in Afghanistan. However, Bush's future foreign policy, specifically the whole ordeal in Iraq and his seemingly blatant disregard of the UN, assisted in creating that rift, IMO.
